After making a vast investment of energy, trust, time, and financial resources, I'm regretful about the damage ultimately done by the experience of working with Marshall Robinson. This was my first time in therapy . It did more harm than good . Having moved forward with a more skillful, specialized therapist who practices trauma therapy that is staged in a way that creates a sense of safety, I reflect on the many years I spent simply reliving the past in an unsafe space , sometimes at 90 minutes twice a week. I feel taken advantage of by a psychologist who should have referred my case to someone specifically trained week one, but instead went on a journey of gradual worsening of the situation without taking responsibility for that. Instead of assisting with the process of metabolizing trauma, therapy with Dr. Robinson was actively retraumatizing. While I was able to move on and make a wiser second choice, I leave this review for others to consider. I do like Marshall, and know that he is bright, clever, and well trained in CBT, short term therapy . He is openly ambitious about building his practice, and is , I think, earnest in wanting to create measurable change with manualized modalities. I do not recommend Marshall for treatment of specifically women's issues nor for fragile female clients with trauma histories or prior experiences of violence. That natural empathy, compassion, and useful understanding of attachment theory are not there, nor is the capacity to stay the course without losing sight of who is the patient. He presents as kind and attentive, but is quite competitive and authoritarian under pressure. read more
