Unfortunately they function now on quantity over quality it seems. After searching for years my dentist here was amazing & we had a whole plan for regular care + cosmetics. Then I got "fired" by the office manager for coming in to my appointment. At the time I was busy taking care of my parents so missed a text but did sign the paperwork virtually prior to coming and showed up on time for my appointment with no history of no-shows. I was told I didn't respond to the text message so they gave my appointment to someone else. They rescheduled me for Friday but had to cancel on me as the tech called out sick. They would text me about appointment times but by the time I text back after checking my schedule a couple hours later the appointment was already booked. I called to see if I could make a time work with my new work schedule and expressed (not yelled or was rude) my frustration over being in the office for my appointment and not being seen and having difficulty rescheduling. The office manager said "I'm not going over this with you again I'll email you your files and you can go some where else" I never received my records, an apology, an easy reschedule. I've never not paid or no-showed an appointment. And I truly love my dentist after having some anxiety finding one after a bad experience with oral surgery a few years ago. Now this is one of the best places that accepts my insurance and I'm unsure where to go for care & cosmetics. If you do schedule here make sure you text back 100% of the time asap & avoid the office manager. read more

I had a few fillings and a root canal completed in Dec. I got lost due to my GPS not finding them but they were so gracious. Jamie works the front and is wonderful!! The staff has also been great. I had an issue with my root canal and left a message but never heard back so I called again. I also sent in a message. Nothing! It was near the holidays. I didn't hear back for 10 days-after Christmas, so I am not very pleased about how that was handled. I'm hoping things go better with my crown and future work. read more

After being a client at Bay View Dental downtown St. Petersburg for many years I have noticed that they are continually up-charging finding ways to generate additional income. Our family has caught them many times not honoring quoted prices or services. My daughter did have to get a previous written quote from just weeks prior where they attempted to cha more. If it had happened one time I would not be concerned; however, it has become routine. They seem to be trying and convince everyone that they need cleaning three times a year, not two. They have had some previous doctors that were very ethical. I don't assess this doctor and office as such. I have one paid for cleaning left but will not be using it. I moved here from Boston so I needed a dentist close by to my apartment and this is a great location in DTSP. I was able to bike here in 5 mins. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. As a new patient, you have to make 2 separate appointments - first one is an exam and X-ray and then you have to come back for the actual cleaning. I wasn't aware of this because it was never communicated to me so that was the only thing I was a bit surprised by since I've never heard of any other facility doing this. Dr Mark Sokolov was wonderful. I broke a tooth which had a crown. He was able to put my crown back on, although temporary, so that I didn't have a empty space in my smile. Set up an apt. to prepare for a permanent crown without the need of a root canal.. Looking forward to a new permanent crown. Thank you Mark. First off no one likes going to the dentist but I can't be more thankful for finding Dr. Carina Canizares. The entire team at her office is kind, helpful and do beautiful work. I've been there for about 8 visits so far and working on my care plan to restore my teeth and feel cared for each time. This is the first dentist I've been to in my 45 years that I feel actually takes time and checks in to make sure I'm clear as to what is happening. If they have an opening, they call me, if they can take me early, they call me. She is always happy to answer any questions I have, and has a great team she works with. From the receptionist, to the back office, dental assistants (Yocelyn was great), and dental hygienist (Karissa), I always feel like I am important and welcomed. They are always on time...I've never had to sit and wait! The view of the bay is amazing, and definitely helps to make me feel more relaxed. Way better than just sitting in a windowless room. While nobody likes to go to the dentist, at least I don't dread it as much as I have in the past. read more

Horrible stuff! Avoid this place at all costs. I will call my insurance to officially complain about this place. I went there around 1 pm and waited for awhile on the lobby without nobody attending me. Finally I saw the whole team of that place having lunch and very rudely told me that from 1 to 2pm they have lunch and they're not to be bothered. I politely pointed out that there was no one on the lobby and it's not good customer experience to have your clients wait for one hour without having a sign on the lobby informing clients that everyone is having lunch. read more

Edit to respond.. I just moved to St pete and was looking for a dentist and I got duped into this one because of the reviews. Anyway, I really needed a cleaning and this place is had good reviews. I called and said I needed a cleaning and they said they will put me on a waiting list. After about two months my appointment finally comes. I spent an hour and a half (I know because I had to park at a meter). All they did was xrays and Pictures and someone talk to me. Not services I really care about. They are the high margin services practices care about. I didnt get the cleaning and when I got the estimate for a future cleaning they said there's an out of pocket. I called my insurance and they cover everything (including fluoride) so this place was just trying extract extra money. Look. Think about ethics. Time is a valuable resource. Don't waste people time with just x-rays and scam "evaluation". I've moved around a lot for work and have tried new dentists over the years with new moves. This is the only place that is too incompetent to be able to clean you teeth on the same day as an evaluation. They waste your driving time and sitting time. And looks the the places petty response. read more

BayView dental was honest and even told me nothing was wrong with my teeth and these dentists were charging me for things I didn't need. As a new patient last year, I requested a checkup and cleaning - waited ~30 minutes past my appointment time to be taken back, then just got x-rays (took WAY longer than it should have - AND it was quite painful) and a 5-minute cursory look by the dentist. Was told I would have to make ANOTHER appointment for a cleaning. Never had that happen at a dentist before. Then, their website AND their voicemail both say they are open Monday - Friday 8-5. I try to use their "convenient" website to make an appointment, only to find out I have to call them (repeatedly to try to actually talk to a person) to make the appointment after all. And that's when I'm told they're only open Monday - Thursday. Wow. On the plus side: the office has a great view of the bay! read more

BEST DENTIST AND STAFF EVER!! I am very anxious when it comes to the dentist due to a trauma I experienced when I was very young. The entire staff was so kind and patient with me! Mostly my poor dentist, Dr. Clay Alviani!! I was so nervous when I was in his chair and shaking; within 10 minutes, he had got me to calm down (it's pretty hard to do such excellent work when your patient is shaking like a leaf!) and I felt no pain whatsoever. While eating a milk dud I pulled out a crown. I don't currently have a dentist, and found BayView through my insurance. They were able to see me in two days, and had no trouble getting me rescheduled. They took me in exactly on time. To top it off, I really couldn't fee when Dr. Canizares gave me the Novocaine shots. Gabby did a great job of making me feel comfortable, letting me know where we were with timing, and answering all of my questions. While not many (any?) people like going to the dentist, I am almost looking forward to my return visit. read more
