Captain Adam & my sweet son!
    Rachel M.

What a fun time! We are born & raised Houstonians so Galveston is in our blood. It's what we know and love when you only live an hour away. We decided to do some a little different this President's Day, play part-tourist, and for a fun getaway. I had been following Baywatch Dolphin Tours on Facebook for a moment and thought, "why not!". Money well spent! Captain Adam was hilarious, friendly and knowledgeable. We did see quite a few dolphins. My son got to drive the boat for a few minutes which he enjoyed. Highly recommend if you'd like to see a different side of Galveston, want something to do outside of Houston or just want to explore.

The Dolphin Tour was outstanding. Thanks Captain Ben for making this day outstanding. Our family endorses Baywatch Dolphin Tours.

Had great time!!!! Got to see a lot of dolphins too! I recommend to make a reservation for 10am tour! Less people and had a lot of room

Adam was a great guide. The trip was enjoyable. The boat was clean and easily boarded. It left early. We saw lots of dolphins and Adam knew their history and showed us many things in the harbor like historical ships. The kids loved driving the boat and Adam's humor and stories were very entertaining. A little pricey but worth it.

Growing up in Galveston and then living here as an adult, we never do any of the tourist stuff but now that we live in Houston and have a small child we try to do all the things. Normally, I'm a cheapo and I'll just take him on the ferry to look at dolphins but this gets you right up close and then you get to see a bunch of other things around Galveston. The captain even let the kids drive the boat for a little bit and a wide area of water where there was nothing else around. We saw at least 12 dolphins and we even saw a couple of baby dolphins and they were all in group. What a great experience and it was so much fun and it was also my husband's favorite activity.

Great day for dolphins. Captain Adam knew right where to go. Dolphins were very active. Beautiful spring day.

We did see some dolphins, as promised, but if you sit in the middle seats, you're not going to see much besides the water and sea gulls. While the captain was nice about it, he told us sitting in the middle to stay seated for the people on the other side to let the people behind you see the dolphins. Some people had a great ride for the price they paid, and us in the middle seats should have just stayed home.

Captain Adam was FANTASTIC. Very good experience for a very reasonable price. The music was fun, the captain was full of fun facts about the bay and especially the dolphins. It was so fun to learn about the dolphins that live there and all their names. Astro put on quite a show for us!! At the end Captain Adam let some kids drive the boat back towards the bay and they had a blast. Even 20y/o me got a turn! Highly recommend for adults and children alike, and I definitely plan to go back the next time I'm in Galveston. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Word of mouth is definitely one of the ways that these tours garner more people on each tour. Our tour guide for this evening was David and he was so welcoming and knowledgeable on the tour that our tour that evening went on a bit longer than it should have. I chalk that up to everyone on the tour being enthralled by the history and the many questions we all had. Plus David took time to go a little more in depth for the tour. As you can see, our tour was of the Red Light District of Galveston. This tour gave me more insight into how Galveston was in earlier times and how that shaped the way Galveston was shaped. Where we were in the city definitely embraces the red light portion of it. Some businesses paid homage to the area and the significance it played in shaping the city. Where you start your tour is basically where the Port of Galveston once stood for the many military ships that would drop anchor here and the many sailors would start their journey into town. As the name suggests, this area was exactly what it was and the buildings still bear signs of that time. Many of them have upper balcony areas which allowed for the working ladies to work. We made our way through the area to notable businesses that have been in the area a while. So much so that they have markers on the building to let you know where water levels were during past hurricanes. We were also informed about what the Blue Light District was. I had no idea about this, but that refers to the section in the city that catered to those looking for working men for some same sex fun. Learn something new every day. While this tour focuses on the Red Light District, we walked and got a lot of information and history on other things around the island as well. Some topics touched on were the mob, the railroad, the historic buildings, and how life was in this area of the city. You can almost see the lines of the neighborhood as you are walking as well. Now, this isn't necessarily a ghost tour, but it could be as we were told about chilling things that happened in this area and the outcomes of some of the people in the area. Definitely a worthwhile thing to do if you have the time.

Highly recommend this tour. Easy walk. Fun info about the area. David was excellent!!!read more

Baywatch Dolphin Tours is one of the most popular dolphin excursions on the island, taking guests out onto the Galveston Harbor on a fleet of four different pontoon boats with shaded seating and open sides for sightseeing. Dolphins often swim through Galveston Bay and are easy to spot on wildlife-watching outings from Pier 21, and as such, a dolphin-watching trip is a perfect excursion while staying at your Galveston. The outings last 45 minutes and cover 3 miles of waterfront, so they're easy to squeeze in on a busy day of sightseeing in the Downtown Historic Strand Seaport Area. On this tour, you'll be able to see Galveston's waterfront attractions, like Pier 21, 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA, and the S.S.Selma while learning about some of the harbor's history. As a veteran, I was most impressed with the history of the S.S. Selma. Fun facts: The Selma is a 7500 ton reinforced concrete tanker built in Mobile, Alabama, was launched on June 28, 1919. The ship was one of several concrete ships conceived and designed during World War 1. Construction was not completed until the war ended. The ship had a length 420 ft., a beam of 54 ft. and a draft with full cargo of 26 ft.. and loaded displacement was 13,000 tons. This vessel marked the first use of shale aggregate expanded in rotary kilns for lightweight structural concrete. The tour guides were both entertaining and knowledgeable. If in the area, this tour is definitely one to go on as it's for all ages and can please those like me who like to learn historical facts on trips, for those who love nature (the dolphins were very active during our tour) and for all those in between. * Tours happen rain or shine

An adult ticket for the one hour boat tour is $17 and you can add another tour of the adjacent sailing ship Elissa for another $8 to make it a combo price of $25 total. Tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket booth at Pier 22 between Fisherman's Wharf restaurant and Willie G's restaurant. This tour is conducted on a 50' boat with twin inboard motors. The boat has a lower deck that is covered with open sides and another deck upstairs that is open air and provides the best seats for viewing as long as the weather is good. All seats are general admission so if you want a topside seat board early. The tour makes one loop of the inner harbor along with venturing just outside near the shipping channel and on the other side of Pelican Island. There you pass by the Naval Museum that includes a destroyer escort and submarine from WW II both on land and a little further you will see the remains of the old SS Selma freighter that was scuttled there. It was a ship that was built of concrete during WW I and then scuttled shortly thereafter. For some reason, my tour only got with about 250 yards of it and no closer. Also during the boat ride you will numerous dolphins that are native to the area. There are other tours advertised as dolphin watching tours and I'm not sure how they are different from this one because my tour saw many on our ride. An added treat was being able to cruise by Battleship Texas which is currently in dry dock on the other side of the harbor and fully exposed from the stern for great viewing. The tour returned on time. The only reason I don't give 4 stars is because we should have gotten closer to the Selma for viewing and pictures and the audio speakers topside were very weak and made it hard to hear the live narration of the sites we saw passing by. If you visit the island and want to get out on the water and see the sights this is a good diversion to consider.
