Hey guys i'm back after 2 years, just want to let you guys know... I still have immense pain on the root canals they worked on. I am still flossing, and brushing my teeth as noted by the dentist and still have the pain in my gum. I have gone to multiple dentist and they are all curious because they see something there. Note: I do not say anything about it until they evaluate my teeth. They ask me, "does it hurt here *pokes the sensitive area*" and I say... "ABSOLUTELY! It's been hurting since I got my root canals done at Baywood dental group in Valencia, CA. I went literally after the procedure was done and the dentist told me to keep flossing and the pain will go away." Just so you know these dentist laugh and say, "What kind of dentist says that to a patient?" and I said, "I'm guessing one who seeks $ rather than the comfort of their patients." I have been a patient for years. I have experienced growing pains with some of the staff. However, I decided to stay with Baywood because their employees are consistent. They have a low turnover. I know the front desk girls lack etiquette, but they are young and don't have the maturity needed to please everyone. I do not mean that as an insult...it takes time to develop tact. My family has had multiple terrible experiences here. First, my husband suffered with a failing root canal that caused him intense, daily pain. Despite it being a clear dental emergency, the office made him wait an entire month for an opening. To leave a patient in agony for four weeks before performing a $1,000 procedure is completely cold and inhumane. Last year, I brought my 17 year old daughter in for a cleaning. She said it was the quickest, most superficial cleaning she'd ever had..they barely touched her teeth and wrapped up in just a few minutes. Fast forward to last month: my daughter needed an evaluation for a painful tooth, plus another cleaning. Due to a major freeway accident, we arrived 9 minutes late. I completely understood when Jessica, the office manager, told us the hygienist was going to lunch and couldn't do the cleaning. However, she then refused to let the dentist perform the 20-minute exam, even though my daughter was standing right there in time for the exam portion to begin, and we offered to forfeit the cleaning. On top of that, Jessica said she could get her in after lunch, but demanded an extra $75 emergency fee when she was scheduled for the evaluation that day. What??!!! When we tried to explain this and reason with her, Jessica became condescending and argumentative. She even told my daughter that she didn't like the aggressive tone when she was only calmly advocating for herself. I couldn't even believe she was the office manager w/her tone. When I asked for her supervisor's contact information, she flatly refused and literally ran off to the back of the office like she has done with others in these reviews. After this extremely degrading & upsetting encounter, I immediately called my insurance and switched us from HMO to a PPO plan so we'd NEVER have to set foot in this place again. Reading other reviews, it appears Jessica has a pattern of mistreating patients based on the type of insurance they carry, which is abhorrent. Fortunately, we found a wonderful new practice the very next day. They treated my daughter with immediate care, compassion, and respect and fixed her tooth right away. I had to revise my review. And this is the second time I'm posting this revision as this company likes to complain to Yelp to have my revision removed. I went here 2 weeks ago under the second opinion from the place I used to go. The doctor had such a mean spirited attitude towards me. All she could say was I really don't care where you go I really don't care what you do. Go get a third opinion if you want and go with that one. Because I came in originally to have a certain tooth looked at to get a possible filling and to have my wisdom teeth taken out. And she practically argued with me left and right saying that she doesn't care what I do doesn't care where I go. The entire staff in this office is amazing except for the owner. I am a minor, and I had a very upsetting experience at this dental office. I arrived exactly 9 minutes late for a cleaning, x-rays, and an evaluation on a painful tooth due to a major freeway accident. Instead of showing empathy for a patient in pain, the staff treated me with total hostility. Stephanie at the front desk immediately demanded a $75 late fee, condescendingly repeating that I was "lucky" it was being waived.  Instead of trying to accommodate a patient who was only a few minutes late and already in pain, Jessica, the office manager, escalated the situation into an argument. She kept focusing on the passing minutes during the argument and used that as justification for why I supposedly could not be seen, rather than making any effort to actually get me in for care. It felt like the priority was arguing about timing instead of treating a patient in need. Jessica also told me I was being "aggressive," even though I am a minor and was simply trying to explain the situation and advocate for myself while in pain. Being labeled that way in this context felt extremely unnecessary   Then they told me I had to reschedule as an emergency appointment for another $75 fee. Charging that much over a 9-minute delay when someone is in pain is completely exploitative. I also want to note that, during my previous cleaning, the exam felt incredibly rushed and surface-level, lacking the thoroughness you would expect from a professional practice.  This office cares way more about tracking minutes and collecting fees than actual patient care. They booked the wrong time and then cancelled my appointment after they didn't hear back from me. The email did not say if I didn't confirm it would be cancelled. It did state the wrong time so that's my fault for not catching it. They told me their number was blocked by me. It was not on my blocked list. They said they had another number they text from. I never got a text for that number. I booked this a year in advance. I know I didn't book it for the time they had because I've had a standing appointment at that time every week since March 2025. I booked this in May 2025. But of course this was all my fault and nothing they did was wrong. Like I'm going to lie. I had no reason to. Very disappointing experience with this dental office regarding a wisdom teeth consultation. I scheduled an appointment, but it was canceled because I was told I needed to pay $1,700 upfront before even being seen for a consultation. I was also told to contact my insurance. When I did, I was informed by the insurance side that I was not required to pay that amount for a consultation. I called the office back to explain this, but I was given different information again, and my appointment situation was handled inconsistently. Later, I was told the consultation could be done for $250 including a 3D x-ray, which was very confusing after being previously told something completely different. I am not thrilled going to the dentist as I have Fibromyalgia and neck issues and cannot lay to far back in the chair. There is one dentist there (not sure if he's still there) he knew my neck issues and leaves me hanging so far back my head is inches from the ground. So I'm always a little apprehensive when I go. I needed to get a molar pulled with the Oral Surgeon Dr. Liu. First time seeing him and if I ever need another procedure I would only request Dr. Liu! Dr. Liu was so considerate of my neck issues and was gentle (as much as one can be with removing a tooth) and he would let me know what was happening with each step. I have not had that great care from a dentist since I was a kid! Dr. Liu even called to check up and see how I was doing, unheard of these days. I highly recommend Dr. Liu, you are in very safe hands with him. read more

Is there any dentist out there who genuinely cares about patients in pain? I'm dealing with unbearable tooth pain and was told I need a root canal. I have two insurances--an HMO through my job and Denti-Cal--and still, I'm being asked to pay hundreds, even thousands, out-of-pocket just to get relief. This office I went to told me I needed a $500 CT scan before they'd even consider doing the root canal option given that included many things not covered by insurance. The only other option they gave me was extraction, but that also required a $450 bone graft and more charges not covered. No matter what insurance you have, they seem to find a way to make you pay out-of-pocket. It felt like I was being upsold at every turn. I asked for a doctor's note to excuse me from work until I could get treatment--I'm a bus operator and physically cannot work like this--but it felt like unless I agreed to one of their treatment plans on the spot, they only would excuse me for that day. I'm in pain, and they made me feel like I had to choose a $3,300 extraction and bridge or a $1,500 root canal and crown (yes, even with both insurances). And to top it off, they didn't even have availability for an extraction for several days--and the root canal would take weeks to schedule. As a first-time patient, they only took one X-ray of the painful tooth, never actually examined it, and quickly handed me a treatment plan. I was given barely any time to ask questions before the dentist walked off, and another sales pitch lady came over with "options," and tried to push procedures not covered by my insurance. I'm in pain, I'm insured, and I'm being left with impossible choices. This doesn't feel like healthcare--it feels like I'm just a dollar sign to them. read more

I'm writing this as a serious warning to others. I tested positive for COVID the day of my appointment and immediately called Baywood Dental Group to cancel. I assumed a medical office would not want a COVID-positive patient coming in. Instead, I was told their $50 cancellation fee would not be waived under any circumstances because of a "strict policy." I explained that I had just recovered from walking pneumonia and had now tested positive for COVID. I also explained that, due to significant medical bills this year, I could not afford to simply throw away $50. I asked very directly whether they would really prefer I come in sick rather than make a reasonable exception to the policy. After being placed on hold, I was again told the fee would not be waived. At that point, I felt financially pressured to come in despite being COVID-positive, which is something no patient should ever experience. The dental technician I saw was kind, visibly surprised, and said she would make sure Dr. Fatahi was informed. When I spoke directly with Dr. Fatahi, I explained that I was upset I had been put in a position where coming in sick felt like the only option. Her response was that I should have "just eaten the $50." There was no acknowledgment of the public health risk, no empathy, and no recognition that the policy itself created this situation. I was told that enforcing the cancellation fee was necessary to maintain their level of care and that it was my responsibility to stay home when sick -- despite the fact that I had tried to do exactly that and was given no reasonable alternative. A healthcare practice should never create a situation where a patient feels forced to choose between financial strain and protecting the health and safety of others. If you are considering Baywood Dental Group -- especially if you expect compassion or flexibility during an unexpected medical situation -- I strongly recommend proceeding with caution. read more

I just recently had a deep cleaning and full wisdom tooth removal at Baywood Dental Group. I'm always rather anxious when it comes to any kind of dental cleaning/operation in general, but the staff at Baywood have always done a great job at lowering my anxiety levels with their great care and service. Any time I've had questions or concerns, they have left me with the information and understanding I needed to feel confident I was getting the best and most professional dental services available to me in the SCV. Dr. Liu is an amazing surgeon and I can't recommend him enough. He called me the day after my surgery to check up on how I was feeling, which really made me feel like he legitimately cares about his patients' experiences, even after his work is done. Dr. Fatahi also gets my recommendation, as I've always left her office feeling happy overall with the care I received, which can't be said for all dentists! My family and I have been going to Baywood Dental for 8 yrs or so. Always had a pleasant experience until the last 2-3 yrs. The customer service, the compassion, kindness and the lack of just caring has gone down tremendously. They over charge you for everything!! They expect payments of $200 or more before your appointment for more advanced work which I think is ridiculous! My husband forgot an appointment one day due to having an emergency and they hounded him stating he needed to pay the cancellation fee. He refuse to and explained his situation, but they did not care or give him a one time warning. Instead they banned him from ever coming back. I have never in my life had a dentist office to that! I have been going here for about 6 years but was told today they would no longer perform any more procedures for my family. It works because they made the decision for me I was contemplating anyways. They said this after I asked for paperwork and dental codes submitted to my insurance after a cavity was filled on my daughter. Long store short, when the doctor said she needed a filling it sounded like a normal filling. After they send me the estimate I asked for with codes so I could double check with my insurance on copay amounts (learned the hard way you should always do this) I saw the filling was $150. I called my insurance and they said the code was not something my insurance covered. When I called back Baywood and asked the receptionist, shr said it was due to the filling not being a standard filling but a peice that needed to be adhered to her tooth and that they needed to use special tools to receed her gum from her tooth. I asked what other options there were and they said a silver tooth for $200. I also asked why the doctor didn't mention this and they said I should have asked him. This all seemed crazy but at the end of the day this was a permanent tooth and I wanted my daughter to not be scared so I was convinced to also give her nitrous if it was such a "hard procedure", words the receptionist used. While sitting through the procedure they did not adhere anything to her tooth, no special receding process of the gums, was 5 minutes and not even a shot to numb due to it being a very simple and shallow cavity. This does definitely not align with the orginal statement and I know things do change once they are doing procedures but I would expect the codes of work done to then change just as they would if any additional work had to be done. When I asked for this breakdown this is when they said they would refund the $150 (not $250 they charged for nitrous) and would no longer work with my family. This seems very shady and makes me think there's other things like this happening to many. Honestly speaking a couple of the doctors are great as well as a couple of hygienists but the office admin and management allowing this to happen are going to definitely loose them business. Run run for the hills with this place! All they want is to tell you lies and rip you off and take your money! I got an implant done 10 years ago. The crown broke and they tried to tell me I had to have the whole entire implant removed and to go without a tooth for three weeks and then I would need to have a flipper all totaling $3700! I got not one , but two opinions after that and wouldn't you know it I only need the crown! The bone with the implant is just fine which they tried to tell me was compromised. Not to mention the dentist, the lady whatever her name is, was completely rude! She didn't even touch my teeth or my mouth. Don't waste your time and don't have them rip you off your money! Dr Liu is such a great surgeon! I came in today to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. He was super knowledgeable and even went as far as to being super careful with my arm since it has a rash. He super quick & even checked up on me later through the day. I definitely recommend him with any oral surgery needs !! Yesterday i had my 2 wisdom teeth extracted, and Dr. Liu the oral surgeon was amazing, it only took less than 20 mins to finish the procedure, no pain, everything was thoroughly explained, and the patient teaching post-op was clear & precise. They were awesome Allison was super nice from the get go and Dr. Liu was super friendly he was straightforward with what he was going to be doing and while we waited for the numbing agent to kick in we talked about his career. He was super quick to remove my wisdom teeth (i only had 2). I was done in about 30 mins with the only pain i felt being from the numbing shots. I was a patient here years ago before moving out of town and had a bad experience with Dr Fatahi's assistant (lady with a monroe piercing "Alyssa" maybe?)...she was all about selling the treatment and not wanting to answer any questions. Now, after taking my elderly mother here while she got treatment...I can honestly say this place has gotten much worse. Dr Coddington does not know how to fit porcelain crowns. Even after my mother explained that it did not fit right, he cemented it on. She had to go to another dentist who confirmed after an xray that it indeed had an open margin leaving decay to enter. I would not even let my mother go back to Baywood dental for them to attempt to retreat...because I do not trust them as far as I can throw them...and the lady with the monroe piercing "Alyssa?" is still working there as the salesman for Dr Fatahi. I was to have a teeth cleaning on Dec 26, but on Dec 23 I was diagnosed with strep throat. I called to cancel my appointment and was told I would be charged a $50 late cancellation fee. Even though I called within their 72 hour cancellation window, I was told that they didn't count Christmas Day in that time frame. They emailed a bill and later cancelled the charge. Then they called me back to reschedule in May. I have my teeth cleaned every 4 months. I called again two months later and was told that I was still on the waiting list. Later that day, I missed a call from them. I called back within seconds and was put on hold. When they answered, I was told that the appointment was already filled. I've changed dentists. I now go to Valencia Dental Office. When I had my first appointment yesterday, I was told that I had a cavity that had been there for a while and my gums were inflamed. I had to have an antibiotic treatment for my inflammation. I'm so disappointed in the treatment from the office staff at Baywood Dental and the care I last received from the last dental assistant that I saw there. read more
