a storefront on a street corner

I am obsessed with ethnic grocery stores, so I was thrilled to find this place when my daughter moved to the neighborhood recently. The selection here is primarily Eastern European and offers a wide variety of items that are hard to find elsewhere. Much of it is probably not good for my waistline but certainly puts a big smile on my face!

Awesome store featuring a huge selection of interesting delicacies and yummy treats and certainly, it's possible to do a full shop here. Huge deli counter with meats and cheeses and salads. Lots of packaged items. Fresh produce looked great and the dairy cooler was well stocked. I found a jar of taramosalata. Love this stuff and it's very hard to find. Friendly staff, the shelves are well packed. Nice shop!

Some of my faves from here!

To start, I think it is important that you reset your expectations. The bazaar is a great little local shop filled with items you cannot easily find elsewhere. For example, home cooked delicacies and other imported goods. That said, this is not Whole Foods, they are much smaller in real estate and don't have everything under the sun. Additionally, although MOST of the items are of really good quality it won't hurt to do your due diligence and double check. I live right across the street and come here all the time. I have learned so much about a different culture just by being exposed to the items in this store and I really quite like that about the experience. Reasonably priced, nice staff, don't need to speak Russian (although definitely helps)

Great stop for all your Russian chocolate needs, and the frozen pierogies are solid as well.

I love this place. It's been unlike most grocery stores in Boston as I feel that I have access to a…read morewhole lot more variety that what I'd see otherwise. It's clean, colorful, has that small market feel yet packed full with lots of items. You enter and there's a good selection of fruit, produce, cheeses from Europe, meats, caviar, fish, and lots more. Plus, they have a legit baked goods section with tasty treats and fantastic bread. The prices are pretty reasonable and I like supporting local business. Their beer selection is also great which I'm surprised they have beers most don't even carry.

Much of my shopping,…read moreand that of my neighbors and guests whom I usually invite to join me, happens there because their selection complements what I get from major US chains. For years, any rare issues were resolved quickly and politely. Recently, I bought seven 1-quart containers of freshly cooked soups as part of my purchase. One container of kharcho had almost no meat. This had happened before in another store of that chain (in Newton), and I received a replacement after showing the receipt. This time, the manager was not friendly. When I asked for a replacement or refund, she looked at me and said, "Male, why do you think I will honor your request?" When I mentioned the store's reputation, she laughed in my face. She then claimed I should have come sooner and that she would need to review hours of video footage to verify the cook's mistake -- all for a $5.94 item (after discount). Her attitude was exactly like that of the old Soviet stores: "The customer is always wrong." This is unacceptable. I feel no desire to shop at this location anymore. I prefer places that care about their reputation.

Ayse was incredibly kind, welcoming, and so helpful. I originally stopped in for their Turkish sparkling mineral water, which is hands down the best sparkling mineral water I've found in Boston. Most sparkling waters give me heartburn, but this one actually helps relieve it! While I was there, I asked Ayse if she had any hidden gem recommendations. She suggested the labneh (pictured) and these cleaning wipes... and can I just say WOW. They have completely replaced my regular cleaning products. I use them all over my house, and I'm a total clean freak! They're made with vinegar instead of harsh chemicals, the strawberry scent smells amazing, and the price is unbelievable. I've already bought packs for my family and friends because I love them that much. And the labneh? It's the best I've ever had. I think I'm on my 25th container at this point. If they ever stop carrying it, I might actually cry. If you're looking for authentic Turkish products, friendly service, and some truly amazing finds, I can't recommend this place enough. Definitely check out this hidden gem--you won't regret it!

If I lived closer, they'd take all my money! There are Turkish sodas, savory yogurt drink and other beverages, chocolates, sweets, cookies, jarred red pepper paste, and all the Turkish essentials you can think of. They even have refrigerated items like beyaz peynir (feta) and sujuk as well as frozen manti and other goodies. Someone who has spent time in Turkey will surly find some products they like, but even if you have no clue about Turkish products, you will surly find something you like. The service is really great. The last time I was there, last week after visiting the delicious Lazuri Cafe a few doors down, the lady working there, Aysha, was great. She was friendly and helpful, making suggestions but no pressure. Offering complementary candies to enjoy. One of her suggestions was a Turkish cleaning product called Cif. I know it and love it and they sell a few varieties there. Check this store out!
