I've been searching for a stylist who knows how to work with my thick hair for years now. The last time I cut my hair was almost 2 years ago because I was not a fan of my previous cut. That experience made me very hesitant and cautious about trusting anyone with my hair. Yangja is an absolutely gem and I am so glad I found her. If I could give 0 stars I would. I have never had such a horrible customer service experience. She complained about my hair being too thick and frizzy the whole time. She rudely told me to use " better higher end hair products" and because of my hair texture I "100% need to blow dry my hair every day". I've always had thick hair and I've never had a stylist complain about my hair texture as much as she did. I had my first baby in May 2022 and mentioned when I was 5 months postpartum my hair was falling out in clumps so I'm actually glad it's grown back. She asked if I was still breastfeeding and when I said yes we've begun weaning, she rudely said "Wow isn't that a little too old to be breastfeeding?" People who judge breastfeeding mothers are so ignorant, I'm proud that Im providing the best possible nutrition for my baby and to be judged like that made my blood boil. Her service menu lists medium haircuts at $60, my hair is just a bit past my shoulders. She ended up charging $80 which is listed as long hair. I'm guessing bc of the thickness of my hair, which is understandable. But bc of her shitty customer service, the extra charge felt like the icing on the shit cake she'd served. I was just asking for some layers and weight to be taken off the back and at the end of the appointment she hands me a mirror and says "that's the best I could do with your hair" with a rude smirk. I'm pissed off I paid so much for a bullshit experience and that I even tipped her. I've worked in customer service and tipping is a knee jerk reaction for me. I love supporting small business and I hate writing negative reviews but considering how terrible of an experience it was, i'm happy to help others save their time and money. Stay away from this rude woman, your money is better spent elsewhere. read more

I truly had a great experience with Yangja during my visit with her for the first time. At the end of my appointment, I paid all my outstanding balance that she provided on the invoice. It also included tip. We parted ways on such a pleasant note. It was not until after I left her salon did I find out about her unethical practice of managing her business. Later on in the day she sent me a text message that she forgot to include the treatment of $50 on my payment. And she asked if I can transfer the money through Venmo. I asked her if I can see the list of services she charged me while I was at the salon to clarify any misunderstanding. I was willing to pay any outstanding balance. She texted me the list of services I received, which in fact included the treatment and the total amount equalled the full balance that I paid for at her salon. Yangja, asking for an additional $50 raised my concern. She became more demanding with requesting for an online payment. I was feeling harassed at that point and informed her that I would be addressing this problem with management and Better Business Bureau for resolution. The last text message she sent, she accused me of not paying what I purchased and that she will report me to the police. I stopped my communication with her because I was genuinely shocked by her attitude and unprofessional behavior towards her client. My rating for her reflects her overall behavior in failing to deliver quality customer satisfaction and the lack of ethical values in operating her business. read more

So, I went to ONE salon and had my hair chopped off and fried (the balayage was cute but my hair was destroyed). Fast forward a couple months and I wanted all the dead ends cut off, but because of my past two bad salon visits I tried to do some cutting at home. The first cut was cute and the second was a DISASTER!!!! I called BB Salon and Yangja texted me back with a next day appointment (I called at 4pm on a holiday). Got my Japanese straight if with Yangja, and it worked out so great! I came in with bleach ends and she told I couldn't get that part done because it would break my hair. Yangja offered to do the top only and keep the integrity of my hair as best as possible. It came out Great! After the three day wash, the part that was straightened was nice and straight with just blow drying! My hair is frizzy with some curls and thick! She worked through it and my hair needs little maintenance now. I've gotten so many keratin treatments so the ends of my hair isn't too frizzy and it worked out okay. read more

I called for an appointment being specific for v-line with layers and maybe also dye my hair so she said she has a spot at 1 tomorrow. I come in, she first greets me by saying my appointment is 1:30 not 1. Once I sit in the chair she's surprised to see my hair is not clean. I didn't wash it because you're not supposed to wash if you want to dye your hair. I reminded her of that and she says oh I put you only for dry cutting. She says she has another customer in an hr and washing my hair will take too long. She said maybe means no... umm no, maybe means maybe and no means no. I called Yangja for a haircut and deep condition and did not expect to get a same day appointment. She cut an inch of hair off (needed!) and deep conditioned my hair. Her blow drying skills are incredible. At no point did the dryer feel hot, or did my hair pull. I left with soft, silky hair and purchased a deep conditioning product. I was very happy with how my haircut came out, she trimmed it and styled it even better than I could imagine! Oh my goodness!!! I am so glad I decided to go with BB Hair Salon. Yangja-san is awesome. She fixed the damage made by another hairstylist did about a month or two ago. Yangja-san was trained in Japan and she's definitely very knowledgeable in hair science. I had to mention that she's trained in Japan because I was stationed in Japan for my stint in the Navy and have had my hair done there; it seems the hairstylists were sticklers about quality: either products or services rendered; they were "masters" in what they did. Anyhow... I love that Yangja-san gives me bits of information about why I need to blow dry my hair or why we should be washing our hair everyday with quality salon products. She didn't try to sell any of the products at her place though. I really can't say this enough: I'm so very, extremely happy with the work done!!!! If anyone is thinking about getting her/his hair done, go with BB Hair Salon. Yangja-san will deliver quality and talented work. You will not regret it. One thing I like about Yangja is that she takes her time and doesn't make you feel like she's in a rush (number one trait i love the most), she listens and she's very willing to give her insightful recommendations prior to doing any hair job. I Cut my hair with Yangja around 3 months ago. LET ME TELL YOU. I've never been more comfortable and confident with my hair than I was since this hair cut. Yangja's skills are the definition of Japanese Skills : Attention to detail and Accommodation to every particular client.
