First off, I want to say that the hair turned out great; it's mainly about my experience with Karla. I requested a black bob with money pieces. From the moment I sat in the chair, I expressed what I wanted with inspirational pictures, sharing previous experiences where stylists hadn't followed my requests. I was initially told that I couldn't get money pieces because of my bangs, which was fine. Instead, I was suggested highlights, but those are completely different styles. I had to ask twice to at least try the money pieces below my two front pieces. When it came to my haircut, I requested a shorter style but faced some resistance from the stylist. She asked if I was sure about the length, and while I understand that this can be a concern for some, I made it clear that I have experience with shorter hair. Additionally, she inquired whether I wanted my hair texturized or layered. I politely declined several times, but she continued to insist that texture or layers would make the cut look softer or less harsh. I appreciate that she is a professional and knows her craft, but I believe a customer's personal preferences should be considered, especially since she accepted the job and was aware of my requests. Overall, it felt like I was being pressured into someone else's choices. I would also make sure to ask for prices beforehand. I was surprised that the total came to $365. The haircut cost $85, which was reasonable, but the money pieces alone were $135, in addition to the overall black hair dye. read more

I was uncertain because it is a salon on whether to move forward with scheduling because I'm a guy, but said what the heck and did. Glad I did. She recommended some ideas that worked with what I wanted and when it came around the time for me to see the final product of my hair, I was speechless. I was soooooo happy with how my hair came out Karla made the entire process extremely comfortable and fun. I really wanted this place to work out.. and Karla, she's super nice but my color was inconsistent. I unfortunately had to go somewhere else and they showed me the top of my hair was the only parts that were colored, my hair underneath wasn't even touched and it was inconsistent. I did reach out to her prior to going somewhere else and showed her these exact pictures of my hair told her, she did my hair last but she sadly didn't acknowledge it. I understand everyone is human and things happen but I wish she acknowledged it when I directly contacted her and tried to fix it but sadly she cancelled couple hours before my appointment for medical reasons which I also get and understand but due to my schedules I couldn't hold out any longer. I had to go to another salon and pay almost double to get it fixed. Karla cuts very well but when it comes to coloring she may need to allot more time to make sure it turns out correct esp if you're paying 200-300$. I knew she was rushing at that time cause it was getting late and she had another person waiting. But I wish her all the best cause I really do like her. I have spent ten years trying to find a great hairstylist/colorist in Chula Vista. I needed someone that would understand me and my hair needs. I am happy to say I found her at JOCE Hair Studio. Karla is AMAZING. What I love about her is that she takes her time consulting with you and your needs. At my first appointment, I went in looking for a change that was noticeable but not super drastic where I was going to hate/ regret it. So I showed her pictures. She kindly warned me that although that style and color would look good on me, she was afraid I would not like it because it would be a drastic change. Since I had already mentioned my reservations and thoughts about it, she then provided me with some options. WHICH I LOVED. She did an ombre and told me that next time I can go lighter (if I wanted to) so this way it would be a gradual process instead of BAM..super drastic. I was in love. So six months later, I went back and went lighter. I loved it. This review is in regards to Karla . My appointment was scheduled for 2:45 she text me at 2:30 that she would run 15 minutes late in reality she was 30 minutes late . She sat me in a chair and had another client at the same time so she was working on two clients at the same time . After the consult she placed the foils in my hair she placed the dye in my hair and left me for an hour with both of these on not checking the foils once . She had went back and worked on her other customer .I had text her that my my scalp was starting to become itchy in the end when I looked at my hair I noticed there was a lot of breakage in which she tried to blame on other products. I did get half of a refund which I appreciate but I would never recommend using Karla read more
