I always find something I love here. It's like my "Target" for groceries. They don't always have the produce I'm looking for, but I always leave buying way more than I was expecting the prices are amazing. I wish they carried blueberries and raspberries more often, but that's a personal problem for me lol Overall, I love their selection. They have great prices, especially , eggs, butter, bread, lunchmeat, produce and frozen foods. Many items are scratch and dent. Their Swiss drinks great prices and dairy products too. I love this place and I'm surprised at the reviewers who are unhappy that there is so much "out of date" product. THAT'S WHAT BBs IS!: Out of date stuff. The good news is that according to Consumer Reports magazine, for 95% of products "out of date" is not normally a problem. This place is such a gem. The prices here are incredible and you can find so many high end products. Sure some things are expired but the stuff is usually fine. Had a wide variety of items....just be sure to check ALL of the expiration dates on anything you want to purchase. Several things I wanted to get were already expired (some were VERY MUCH SO!) while others only had maybe a day or two left. I did get several things that were still very good. We stopped for the first time in March to see if it was worth stops on later trips. They have everything priced low, good deals, bargins to be found with a bit of a hunt. We snared pints of grape tomatoes, 99 cents, pints of blueberries for 99 cents, all breads unless marked otherwise were 99 cents, and when walking thru the cooler, we got 2 bags, 3 to a bag, small napa, 99 cents a bag. Walking from the cooler, you walk right into the frozen foods section which is nice in the summer but not in March. We definitely will return. read more

I rated this so low because it used to be a decently priced store, now it's overpriced, obnoxiously over priced, they are trying to be a walmart with expired health and beauty and General merchandise that is broken, missing parts or used, but charging, in some cases MORE than Walmart for a used item. The worst part, they are writing in large black permanet marker the price of the item, so you can't even buy someone a gift without the price being written obnoxiously large. Not sure if it's because the cashier's aren't smart enough to read a price tag or if it's to detour people from purchasing items as gifts, either way, it's bad business. Also, health and beauty, they sell items that expired vitamins, medications and beauty creams, some things have expiration dates from 2017, they used to mark meds and vitamin down to .10 cents if they were expired, now they all stay full asking price. The Newburg store is a joke, the manager is rude and the customer service is mediocre. Not sure why they increased prices so drastically all at once but if I'm going to buy an item that i'd pay the same price for at Walmart, I'm going to Walmart because my items will be new, not missing pieces or expired from 3 years ago. Read the bad reviews and think maybe they are the wealthiest among us, I'm not and always looking for a bargain. As far as the "rotten fruit" I certainly never seen that and maybe the fruit is not dyed or waxed and manly fresh picked, so, there may be some with spots, not the end of the world folks. I have been going to BB's for years even when they had the small shop in Elverson and then again at the old outlet mall. I totally disagree with S.B. who said she or he saw rodents in the store. I say that is totally false! Also, most items are NOT outdated and if you DO see outdated articles just don't buy them. Besides, a date on a product is the date that it must be sold in a store. It is NOT a safe date in which to buy a product so you won't get sick over it. As I said I have been going to BB's for at least 15 years and at 73 years of age I'm still doing fine. read more

BB's is always an adventure for us, we know we will always stock up on canned goods, Pasta sauce, plastic bags of all sizes and the rest is just a bonus. We watch dates but we also know food is still good if sealed correctly and past whatever date is on the product, you can't say that for crackers and cereal, but anything canned or jarred you can. This is a once a month type of stop for us and we enjoy it, our cashiers have always been pleasant and the store is always clean read more

I love this place. Coming here is like a grocery adventure. You never know what you are going to find. My wife and I love organic and all natural products. You can often find things like that at BB's for a fraction of the price they charge at the health food stores. You can find name brand products and obscure European imports on a consistent basis. Sometimes the products are stale...but that goes with the territory if you are going to bargain grocery store. The Amish/Mennonite staff are always very friendly...plus it's kind of cool to hear them talk to each other in PA dutch. PS...any British nationals in the area...they almost always have british cookies/biscuits and candy...like Aero bars or Yorkie bars ,6 for a dollar. Or Marmite for .50 cents. I'm not kidding. Me and my girls came here today early afternoon with my dad and good friend so he could show me around being my first time experiencing BB's. I really enjoyed my great finds with good dates as well!!! Example would be a bag of Reeses peanut butter cups good till September 2016 for $1. Canned vegtables good till October for 50 cents each. I could go on and on with what all I bought but you get the idea. It takes time to shop here to look at dates and to see through the boxes of all the miscellaneous items. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was due to the RUDENESS of the cashier!!! She was downright mean, unprofessional, and way out of line with her unnecessary behavior towards us! First of all, we are the nicest people you'd meet who would be willing to help anyone out! My dad was helping to move the groceries up on the belt and she kept saying, "okay okay", giving my dad a ignorant look then I looked at her just normal and at same time chuckling with my dad who was trying to pay for my things when I wanted to beat him to it. She stops checking out our things and asks if I'm okay. Then I said, "excuse me" and she repeated herself asking if I'm okay? I asked her, "Why are you asking if I'm okay?". She said, "because you're looking at me" while she's rolling her eyes, sliding the groceries through then so hard the cans pinched my little girls that were bagging who also said she was rolling her eyes at them. I told her," I can stare at anyone or anything." becsuse at this point I was VERY upset and hurt! She said, "no you can't because you're making me feel weird." So from that point on I looked everywhere but at her actually hoping to see a much needed manager. As we walked out into the foyer, I was debating whether to go searching for a manager and then at that point I seen her go running towards the bathroom. She obviously had some issues going on to feel that it was okay to treat customers that way. I'm still upset over it due to her making me feel uncomfortable with being questioned with no reasoning for it! It's not her place to interrogate me and if she doesn't want to be looked at she shouldn't be a cashier. She definitely needs supervision for her behavior thinking she is getting away with treating innocent people like something is wrong with them when it's her! I was told I wasn't the only one she has treated wrong! Something needs done with cashier straight bangs and straight shoulder length black hair. Couldn't get her name due to not being allowed to look at her. She worked closest to hair accessories about 3 check out down. Prices are great for most items. You have to watch the cashier's tho when they are ringing you up. Several times I've been over charged. Also I agree with a previous comment left. Not bad. You really have to be a sharp shopper, paying attention to expiration dates, condition of package and so on. The produce is usually near death's door, and needs to be consumed within a day or so. That being said, decent savings on the damaged cans, etc. I don't bother with the off brands much, but have had some surprises with some soups and stuff, actually better than the bigger brands.
