Lately, there seems to be a boom of banh mi places in Duluth. I love seeing how it's easy to get a sandwich especially if one place sells out, there's surely another shop to get a sandwich. This isn't my first time getting Be Banh Mi, but my first time at this location. I ordered to go and picked up via DoorDash. Unfortunately, some choices run out close to the end of the day, but the sandwiches were still good. This particular location has also sugarcane juice and you can get it without flavorings. I had ordered a bunch of options and ultimately, this place is ok to me. Don't get me wrong, their ingredients are fresh for sure, but the flavors were just ok to me. Some sandwiches were surprisingly spicy because of the jalepeno which was no bueno for my kids who are spice virgins. I thought I had ordered non-spicy options. It's the self-service kiosk where you order and they call you by your receipt number so there's no bussing or wait staff. Now for the for banh mi. It's not that it's anything necessarily special. It's a banh mi. Your proto-typical Vietnamese ingredients from grilled pork (what I got!!!) to BBQ pork to crispy pork belly and the works! The ingredients are one in same with any place that specializes in banh mis. What sets this place apart is that they offer the stick version of the traditional banh mi. Yes!!!! The stick version. Banh mi is traditionally served in a toasted buttered French baguette loaf that acts like a submarine sandwich open hot dog bun style then all the ingredients are shoved in the opening then wrapped up for you to open and enjoy. The stick version however is a long, thin, yet equally buttery, flaky, soft bun but it's almost a foot long and thin but they don't skimp on the flavors of the banh mi! That's what makes this place so interesting and worth visiting time and time again. Plus the price is so affordable for a banh mi. The traditional banh mi's run you at $6 per sandwich. The stick version runs you at $5. Between the two versions, you're looking at roughly a $12-$14 with tax. My mother and I stumbled upon this place and were not sure what to expect as we tried other banh mi in the area and some were hit or miss. You have plenty of parking In The plaza but it can get busy due to other fun places in the area. When you walk in it is very spacious with some seating but not a lot. You can either order at the self service kiosk or through an employee. You have the option of fully customizing your sandwich which is super helpful! I ordered a glazed chicken banh mi and the wait was little to none! They give it to you wrapped up in a bag. The flavor was incredible and very delicious. So much flavor, bread wasn't burnt and the portions were great. The price was super reasonable. I left wanting another one! Do yourself a favor and come here! Craving banh mis on our way to roadtrip, my friend and I stopped by. There was no line so our order only took 10 minutes to come out after placed at their kiosk. We got their Classic stick banh mi and Bbq pork banh mi. Being a bit of a stickler for the bread. I found the stick bread to be more consistent with the banh mis I have had in the past texture wise. But taste wise, I definitely preferred the bbq pork when I am usually a classic fan through and through. Already I have been back twice and look forward to being a regular. Staff are friendly and try to accommodate to all the customization that can be selected when checking out. Place is clean but a little empty for all the space they have. We ordered a grilled pork and they were offering a special on the Fried Pork Belly Banh mi (it was actually the last one ) and boy did we get lucky . It was not only fried to perfection but fresh tasty and perfect . The grilled pork was great also but I'd say put the fried pork on the menu permanently. The veggies (cucumbers, jalapeños , cilantro , & carrots are the freshest I've ever seen ) the bread had the perfect crust and the softest center. My only suggestion is you should definitely be consistent in cleaning the tables after everyone leaves . This place is certainly worth the stop as long as you don't have folks that need a clean spot. You have to kinda wipe it down as tables become available, just super sticky. Don't hold your breath on a warm welcome.. But on the plus side they do have a kiosk you can order from, but its easier sometimes to be able to speak to the cashier. The order- Only if they have the stick bread available, otherwise I skip and wait till another time. I have had the other sandwich breads and its fine.. but to me the "stick" bread is what is unique to this place, and its worth the wait to me. I usually either get #3 or #2. A great little spot for lunch, it's quick, clean, and delicious! In fact, I would go as far as to say it's probably my favorite banh mi I can get in GA. The baguette has a beautiful exterior and is airy, filled to the brim with whatever you order. The cucumbers, pickled carrots, cilantro, and jalapenos are fresh and crisp. You can tell they made their own egg mayo/butter based on the color, and it's yummy! It adds a nice savory creaminess to the sandwich, much more than regular mayo, and it makes me really happy to see it here. For which banh mi to get, I always get dac biet (classic) or thit nuong (grilled pork) in the regular size. Both of them here are so good, and I struggle to pick one, so I get both. Oops! But not really. Their other options are good too, but there's no beating the classic or grilled pork one. Stick version is nice as well, a bit like a snack or light lunch. One thing they do in particular that I haven't seen elsewhere is that in their classic banh mi, they add pork floss on top. Unfortunately, my first impression upon walking in was that it had a weird smell that was hard to describe, but fortunately I didn't let that deter me. This was one of the best Banh Mi I've ever had. It was packed to the brim with meat (I've genuinely never had so much meat on a Banh Mi without requesting extra) and was incredibly flavorful. The baguette itself is authentic more than most place I've eaten in the US, crunchy outside and soft, airy inside, served warm - perfect. We try their Dac Biet, Thit Nuong, and Xiu Mai. The Dac Biet is classic, packed with fresh veggies. I would recommend to get more egg whipped mayo or pate to be more flavorful. Thit Nuong was the best!!! Pork is well-marinated, full with flavor. For some reason, my banh mi thit nuong comes with more mayo. Maybe that's why it's so good Xiu mai can be more flavorful. Taste great when add chinsun hot sauce or their house sauce. There aren't many places that are just this classically good in the Duluth area. Banh Mis are on every single corner but this is the OG, original and amazing flavor that you expect. The restaurant itself is a new-age and contemporary place without many frills in the dining area. You have the option of ordering on a kiosk or ordering in person which is nice since this place seems to get packed rapidly in the mornings. And when I say "packed", I mean packed. You can walk in 30 seconds after opening time and be the 50th order in line, but the line moves FAST. I recommend the fried egg banh mi. It's a classic, it's perfectly overeasy and pairs beautifully with the butter and crunchy bread. I can't ignore how delicious the grilled pork is as well because it's a classic pork flavor without being demolished with lemongrass. I wasn't there long enough to try the menu, but in 4 days, I ate about 11 sandwiches in total. On my last day leaving Georgia, I timed departure with the ability to grab 4 sandwiches to go. This is delicious. It's more than delicious, it's moorish; every single bite leaves you wanting more. I didn't realize this was a chain, but their sandwiches are so good! The prices I thought were very reasonable. My kids and I accidentally stumbled across this while shopping in another store. This place is at the very end of the strip mall. I like the fact that you could get "extras" on some items for free. We actually made a pitstop here in the morning on our way back home to Virginia. They opened at 9 AM on a Monday. They even package the vegetable/cold items on the side if needed. Besides the typical sub roll, they also have the long skinny version that I had only seen before in Vietnam. Plenty of parking by the restaurant. It's in the same shopping plaza as Sweet Hut. I would recommend you order ahead so you don't have to wait as long. I didn't know so we had to wait quite a bit at the store. Area is nice and spacious, there is indoor dining available. Iced Milk Coffee: it was a bit too bitter for me, but if you wait and let the ice melt a little bit it's pretty good. Personally I feel like the ratios are a bit off. There is a lot more veggies than meat. If you look at my pictures, you would think all the Banh Mi are the same but they aren't. My order was to go. You do have the option to have your veggies on the side so you can add it when you are ready to eat. Be grilled pork: ordered two, one with jalapeño and one without. This one is my second favorite. Glazed chicken: got this one on a stick instead of the regular bread. I actually prefer it because it's easier to eat per bite. Still has a good texture. It is also a bit cheaper. Be Banh Mi is sandwiched between Choong Man Chicken and BB Myun, inside the Great Wall strip mall. It is a tiny shop offering a simple menu. For each Banh Mi, you can choose among 3 sizes: regular, stick, and challenger. The challenger size requires you to order the day before and only 1 per day. I don't know how big the challenger size is, but I'm curious why you have to go such length to get a bigger size. All sandwiches comes with egg butter, pickle, cucumber, cilantro, scallion, jalapenos, and sauce. I tried the classic and the grilled pork. The classic consists of pork sausage, jambon, cured pork, char siu, pate, and pork floss. It has all the unhealthy (but tasty) proteins you need. The grilled pork is your basic marinated grilled pork. The marinate was sweet and savory. It kinda reminded me of Korean bulgogi. The sandwiches has a lot of jalapenos in them. It makes the sandwich have a bit of kick to them. The bread tasted nice and fresh. It seemed like a nice baguette. The price is a bit more than the traditional places we're used to. You can expect to pay about $6 per sandwich. But it's not a bad sandwich. Sure, you can go to the classic Banh Mi places in Atlanta and get them for cheaper, but if you're in the area, it's not bad. Honestly, I felt like it fell short of tasting authentic and it was wholly compensated by being over stuffed. There are 3 bread options: a stick, a baguette and the challenger. We both went with the baguette and the bread wasn't the best. It was rather hard inside and out.
