Our hair is our crown, particularly for women who wear their own, home-grown hair - relaxed or natural. I've worn mine both ways and I am very particular about who I allow to touch my hair. Like many women in the Washington DC Metro area, I am still heavily medicated due to PTSD from "hair practitioners" who have fried my hair and my nerves! Either they can't style your hair, they overprocess your hair, or they have poor business practices - if not a combination of all of the above. She is a fantastic stylist who really invests in her trade. Everyone's hair journey is different so some people spend a lot of time in the salon while others of us may visit less frequently. She's cool with either type of customer and I like that. Absolutely Amazing!!!! After an extensive search for a stylist that not only knows how to style hair, but is experienced in Hair Care, I found Vicki! This was my first time and she did not disappoint. Her consultation (named The Chat) with me allowed me to tell her my hair needs. She listened to every concern, did not rush me and explained everything about the steps we would take. Back story: I had long, full locs for about 7yrs. After experiencing horrible breakage after years of relaxers, I had a sew-in weave for 2 years to let my hair rest and the relaxer grow out. My hair had completely grown back and I decided I should not relax again. After reading blogs about natural hair care and styling, I was ready to embrace my texture! This has my third visit, which is rare for me, given my work schedule and lack of patience in long Salon visit Times's Its hard to find a good natural hairstylist that truly listens and knows how to treat my thin/fine, natural hair. I followed her from a previous Sola location. She takes great pride in her work; her Salon is always so clean; she's very quick and meticulous. I leave the Salon in about 45 mins-1 hr. She times her bookings so perfectly, so customers don't waste half a day waiting. Most importantly, she's a big advocate of the Sola Salon system. I had no clue what Sola was unit I stumbled upon Vicki. It's refreshing to hear someone constantly speak so positively as a tenant and a business owner. This tells me a lot about the company that operates these salons and if I were ever to invest in any or such a company, it would be because if business owners and people like Vicki. I've been trying to find the stylist and shop I went to in Springfield where the stylist gave me heat damage (in 2016) and it took 1 year and a half to correct it. Vicki was fine at first and I only went a handful of times but the last time was the problem. She knew she did too much with the heat because I never got the usual, "it's time for your next appointment" after that particular visit. I really couldn't figure out why my natural curl pattern wouldn't bounce back. My previous stylist that retired let me know what was going on with my hair. I could've driven back to the shop (two months later) to show her what she did, but at that point I didn't want anyone to touch my hair at all. I got it back on track but it wes like getting a perm (she used the flat iron and hot comb) on 15-20 years of natural hair that hadn't been permed since the late 90's. I now have a different texture of natural hair since that experience, but I'm even more cautious as to who I allow to touch a strand on my head.
