In the two weeks i worked for them i witnessed and questioned several unsanitary business practices. Including reusing dirty mop heads, rags, and disposable dusters at multiple residences. (Example 1: Cleaned a local "Ranch Store", floor was extremely dirty with a weeks worth of animal hair, mud, dust, and horse manure that the mop water turned to mud after cleaning just a few aisles, mop heads were not changed out after the job, nor was the mop water changed out even once when mopping the over 2000 sq. foot building.The mop heads were rinsed briefly under a outside water faucet and reused at the next private residence, and a bed and breakfast.) Having worked in both the residential and commercial cleaning business before and managing such businesses, I immediately questioned the unsanitary practices and asked why the mop heads were not changed out and replaced with clean ones before entering and cleaning the next job. I was meet with attitude, told "not to speak over others", and then told changing out mop heads created "too much" laundry for the owner Catie West. When I questioned why the muddy water was not changed out to clean water during mopping, the reply was, "Catie (the owner) said this job isn't a money maker, she just wants us to get in and out of this one." This continued the whole two weeks I worked for them, dirty mops used at multiple houses and businesses daily, the same dust rags, sponges and disposable dusters used all day long at every job we were assigned, and when questioning this dirty practice i was told, "costs needed to be cut on supplies." When I decided I could not in good conscience continue to work for such an unprofessional company, because I didn't believe in attaching my name and work to such unsanitary practices, I contacted the owner Catie West and told her I could no longer work for her and the reasons why. I was then meet by harassing phones calls and texts, and complete refusal to turn over my last paycheck. She claimed I had not turned in the appropriate documentation to receive a paycheck (copy of social and drivers license), which was a lie because that was given to her my first day of work (and I had had no problems previously receiving a paycheck). The harassing phones calls continued all day long, Catie West would call me repeatedly, one phone call after another, ( which I did not answer) then the insistent text messages began, insisting I meet with her regarding "some sort of miscommunication" regarding the issues I deemed reasons for not working for her, and if I did not do as she wanted my last paycheck would not be released, I told her there was not any miscommunication, I was very clear on the reasons why I could not work for her, repeated my reasons for my doing so, and asked politely for my check to be mailed to my mailing address. She refused and continued with the texts and phone calls, till the point i had enough, and had to tell her three times to not contact me further. Catie West's last text message to me called the unsanitary practice complaints I had "petty",and she had "no time for petty."
