They recently had…read moresome changes to staff leadership, and while I was wary at first, this group is proving to be strong thus far - very caring about the individual students and based on practices, the group programs appear to have gotten better and more creative. The instructors here are very good, and they have great connections with local venues... so if you're in a group program, you can see your daughter or son on stage at local bars/restaurants where professional acts perform. I can't wait to get my 4 year old involved next year. Will update review again after we see the next group performance, to observe how the program has evolved.

Just over a year later he has learned to play dozens of classic rock, punk, and grunge songs, played 4 concerts on keyboards. He was inspired to pick up the bass guitar and played 2 concerts, and wants to learn 6 string guitar. In short, I am impressed with Billy at SoR and his excellent instructors. They really care about the music and the kids. The SoR is a nurturing and safe place that allows a new generation to appreciate great music just like I did when I was a teenager.

Matt brought my guitar and ukelele from "Rustic Grime" to Masterpiece!…read more I brought my 20-year-old Walden Natura D550 and a vintage 1953 ukulele to Matt, and the results are honestly shocking. The '53 uke was in rough shape--old, rustic, and covered in decades of grime. Matt transformed it completely. He finely detailed the body until it was shining like a mantle piece, fixed the tuners, and recommended Nylgut strings that make it sound incredible. It went from a dusty relic to a daily player that I can't put down. For my Walden guitar, Matt performed "wild work." The action was high and the strings were dead, but he used a "cold clamp" technique on the neck and hand-carved a perfect unbleached bone saddle. He even recommended a spectacular cocobolo bridge to match the guitar's aesthetic and tone. Both instruments came back sounding "shockingly fantastic." If you have an instrument that has lost its "soul" or just needs expert engineering to sing again, Matt is the man to see. A true master of his craft and a total professional.
