The month prior to the party, we met at the site and walked the space to get a visual of where everything was going and all extra details. The day of the grad party, Erika and her assist, Suzy, arrived on time and ready to set up. We had ordered: entrance signage and balloons out front of the venue, five balloon bunches as table toppers, a large gold ring w/ balloons and a cream lounge chair, I even ordered tablecloths for the dining tables from Erika. The balloon gold ring back drop (for the photo ops) was SO adorable, everyone loved it. The table balloon bunches were perfect on the dining tables and the ribbons too, on the bunches were beautiful, many strings of ribbon and bows. It was beyond perfection and made the room so adorable. Erika and Suzy also came back after the party was over and gathered their items and helped tear down the balloons, which I really appreciated. We did, however, encounter communication mishaps such as delayed responses and some confusion and part of it was my mistake as I still haven't updated my Yelp account to my current legal name. We got that straightened out but communication still didn't improve much. I understand we're all busy (especially their weekends) but I wanted all the details and planning squared away ahead of the event to get it out of the way. It was anxiety-inducing for me. We had a few conference calls to make sure I was on track and that everything was in place with the vendors and wedding day, but the real test came when it was the day of the rehearsal. When she introduced herself, she let everyone know that if they had any questions, to ask them at the end so that we could get through everything quicker. I'm all for that, but how about pause a few times in case anyone does have a question. The rehearsal should start with how the wedding day is going to pan out. From beginning to end. She wanted to start with the end then move to the beginning then move back to the end. Then when all of the bridal party were walking down the aisle, they went one by one, when I had discussed with her several times that they would be ushered down as I wanted them to have some stability going down on the grass in heels. The week of the wedding, my vendors were in constant contact with me, rather than Michelle because they were confused as to what was supposed to happen. They were also in contact with me to see if I needed any help or just to see how I was doing. I never even received ONE call from Michelle. So on the wedding day, the processional order went wrong. She had no idea what she was doing. My other wedding vendors had to fill her void and all of my family and friends commented on how horrible her demeanor was, how unprofessional and inconsiderate she was. I liked her when I interviewed her, but she was also on the less expensive side compared to the other wedding planners. Like my mom always says, you get what you pay for. I would've rather not had a wedding planner at all than to have hired her.
