We have come to The Art Box 3 times during Open Play business hours, and they have been closed. Every. Single. Time. Nothing on their pages about being closed for the day, no sign on the door. We booked in advance the last time, a week in advance, and received no refund when they didn't actually open that day. This is not okay, and people who are excited about going here need to know that it may not work out, every time you try. Really tough explaining that to children, especially ones on the spectrum, who were so very excited to check it out. read more

We paid for the open art class that was supposed to be from 10:00 to 1:00 pm. There was no one inside the building when we got here and we waited over 10 minutes! This is unacceptable and a waste of our time and money. No one called to say that this class was canceled, total scam! read more

If you are even kind of debating hosting your kid's party here, you need to make like Nike and JUST DO IT. We had our party here for our toddler's second birthday and had kids ranging from 3 months to 9 years old--every single kid and parent had a blast! Almost everyone left with crafts they made, one kid spent over an hour playing exclusively on the shaving cream wall (yes, you read that right!); and when she started winding down, our toddler found solace in the little reading tent in the back. Not to mention, Miss Susie is the sweetest and most chill business owner I have ever met. She made sure I had everything I needed, offered to help set up, and let us know our 2 hour schedule wasnt super strict since there were no other events that day. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to bring my kiddo here, but like every other parent at my party today, we will definitely be back for story times and open play! We had my son's birthday at the original location back in May of 2019 and it was wonderful: clean, big, and loads of fun. They even gifted him a huge canvas that all his friends helped decorate which still hangs in our house. My daughter's birthday was held at their new location (with new owner) in December of 2022 and it was nothing like the original: a few small rooms, dirty, broken blinds, smelled like body odor, but granted, still fun for the kids. If you are picky about cleanliness like me, go and check this place out first. Don't book blindly like I did because it's nothing like the pictures show. The owner was very sweet, but also hard to get a hold of. After my bad experience I met another mom who said great things about this place. Although she has only been for their special events like Pokémon night. I just didn't like it as a birthday venue. read more

We had my son's 3rd birthday party here today and the kids had a lot of fun. The host was fantastic, friendly and very helpful. I believe her name was Megan. They had so many little stations for the kids to play from play-doh, painting, a tub full of "orbeez", chalk boards, large sharks to paint all over (it was an under the sea type theme going) and lots of other fun sensory stuff. My ONLY complain was it just wasn't long enough to play. We had a few people show up 15 minutes late and by the time the kids found what they really wanted to do it was barely 20-25 minutes to play. My own son took a little time to warm up and then when things had to be cleaned up, he cried because he was loving it and didn't want to stop. You get an hour and a half but they split it into two parts: 45 minutes to play and 45 minutes for food, cake and presents. When the play time is up, a curtain is closed to shut off access to the back area so that they can start cleaning for the next party, which is understandable. The front area is already set up for the kiddos to sit and eat and whatever else for the last 45 minutes. I wish they would give you a full hour and then 45 minutes for the cake, food and present part. We will definitely be back for open play soon though! read more

We attended a adult paint night at The Art Box in Orangevale, it was so much fun. the staff was amazing, helpful and patient. The had an amazing spread of snacks for us to enjoy during our party. overall I would recommend them for you kid'a party or girl's night out!! really a hidden gem! read more

Loved having my 5year olds birthday party here in November!! They have themes that coordinate with the art stations, ours happened to be Chef, which was so fun for the kids! They painted with utensils, dipped cookie cutters, played in flour for sensory and had a cute ice cream truck area with cotton balls! We were able to bring in our own food and decorations for our theme! You get 45 mins of playtime and then they close the curtain so they can clean while we do food, which worked great for us! Only thing I would change is the host position. It says on the site that it is a free for all and it's not structured, but I do wish the host was a little more Involved to at least show what the areas were because there was a lot to do and we may have missed some fun. All in all, great place for kids to explore their artistic talents and have fun ! read more

The art box is an amazing children's studio, but they double as an awesome adult paint night studio as well. We had so much fun! We are so proud of our paintings after Kati led us through and helped each of us create a unique but beautiful painting! Took my 21 month old daughter there today and she had a great time. We made an artistic pizza, played with paints, shaving cream, a water table and a fun play kitchen. My only con was that it seemed a little expensive. $12 seemed like a lot for my under 2 year old. The owner did say that they have $8 Tuesday's though. Regardless of the price we will most likely come back just not as often as I'd like. read more

I had my son's fifth birthday party here, and everyone had a wonderful time! I can't rave about it enough! My favorite part was that The Art Box did everything for me, (including decorating the studio with the Lego theme I requested) and it was the easiest birthday party I've ever thrown. I was able to show up with my birthday boy, enjoy the party, and they cleaned it up for me. We all had so much fun, and it was a HUGE hit with the kids. The highlight of the party for each guest was definitely when the kids got to spray eachother with silly string at the end! I also love bringing my kids to play here as well. The kids always have fun, and there are things for every age to play with. Kati and Megan are fabulous with children, and they genuinely enjoy painting and playing with the kids. We had my son's 4th birthday here. It was the best party! The kids all had a blast and got to do a bunch of different things. The glitter water table (water gloves) was a hit and the "snow ball fight" became a very quick favorite. Kids were encouraged to paint, play with the shaving cream wall, and make glitter circles. We did the messy art party for my 2 year olds birthday. She and her little toddler friends had so much fun. There was enough play time with the mess and then time for food and gifts. Some kids wanted to take their messy paint projects home, but unfortunately they were not dry. I would recommend this studio for anyone doing a party for kids 2-7ish who don't mind getting messy with paint and shaving cream! 1.5 hours is just long enough and they clean everything up for you. You can arrive 15 minutes early and set up your food and drinks too. read more

Amazing place for birthday parties. So many options for the kids. Our guests (and their kids) loved it. My only reason for not giving it five stars is the maximum time they allot to the 'get messy' parties is only 90 minutes so it feels like everything is rush rush. Visited The Art Box yesterday morning with my just turning 4 year old daughter and her best friend, a boy who recently turned 5. They had a fantastic time! They are very active kids and I had no idea how long this place would hold their interest. After two hours they were still going strong. There was a messy room and a not so messy room, so something for everyone. My daughter and her friend played with everything but the shaving cream was the biggest hit. I had called ahead with questions and someone actually answered the phone and was very helpful. This is a BIG plus in my book. It was helpful that we were able to bring our own snacks in. Very relaxed and laid back but also clean, neat and professional atmosphere. Nice large clean restroom with a changing table. Places for moms to sit on benches on the perimeter, as well as plenty of chairs at the various activity centers. Of course playing with the kids is fun, but my friend and I wanted to chat and catch up and let the kids do their thing and that was fine too. Well laid out and not overly large, so it never felt like I might lose my very active daughter. Well run and very fun place, and pricing seemed comparable to other play places, art or otherwise. The Art Box only charges for the child, not the accompanying adult, and this is not always the case. read more

I visited the Art Box Studio with my 4 yr. old grand daughter. We spent 2 hours at the studio. They had all kinds of different media for kids to play with. The shaving cream art area was very popular with kids. Their were many different activities. The owners were very engaged with the kids and there to help with everything they were doing. Very pleasant. I would recommend for toddlers 2-5 will have a blast. My grand daughter had a great time and wants to go back again. read more

I want to start by saying that I accept some part in this bad experience. I purchased two spots for a kids camp painting event, and as life happens, stuff came up and I completely forgot that the event was happening. I realized that we had missed out on the paint camp the next morning when friends posted their kid's projects on facebook. Now, they are clear about the sale of the tickets being non refundable and non transferable. So, like I said I take responsibility for my forgetfulness, but I do think it's kind of crappy that they are unwilling to work with people if something comes up and you can't give advanced notice. Kids get sick, or accidents happen, and heaven forbid you can't make it to the class, you are now just out $50. The explanation I was given, was that it costs money for staff and materials so they are unable to refund. I am sad that my kids missed out on the experience, but in the future I will find a different place that is more flexible. read more

I brought the three girls I nanny to ArtBox on Thursday and we all had a fantastic time! Katy immediately got the girls involved with the studio - she gave them a tour and showed them the different stations available. They got busy with shaving cream first (they could have played with shaving cream the whole time!) and then moved around the room experimenting with different painting styles. They had a great variety of stuff out for kids to explore - fly swatter painting, painting with (pretend) bugs, and painting with brushes. There was also a rock painting station and an awesome spring gardening sensory table for the girls to explore; by the end of their visit they were squishing the worms and loving it! We played playdoh in the front, colored on the chalkboard and the girls loved cutting paper. :) The activities set up offered the girls different opportunities to explore art and sensory - we will definitely be coming back to visit! :) Thanks, Kati! read more
