I came in with three friends/family to get flash tattoos, but I was denied service because I brought my legitimate, trained service dog. I was told I could not enter or that my medical service animal had to be left in the lobby, separated from me. When questioned, the management blamed local sanitation and "DHEC." Under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), federal law preempts state health department regulations regarding service dogs. Tattoo shops are clean environments, not sterile operating rooms, and service animals are legally protected to accompany their handlers in client areas. Separating a service dog from their handler or turning them away denies essential medical access. It is incredibly humiliating to be publicly turned away--taking three paying clients out the door with me--from a shop that literally posts "Welcome All Disabilities" on its entrance. If you claim to welcome people of all abilities on your front door, you need to follow federal civil rights laws inside

When we arrived the shop was not super busy, Sharla checked our anatomy and told us to pick out our jewelry, returning to the back to sanitize the room. When she came back up to the front she did not inform me that the jewelry I had picked would be improper for a starting piece and cause future complications. She pierced us and we left. The actual experience getting pierced by her was good, she was patient and talked us through it.. very anticlimactic and not scary. Unfortunately 3 months later my piercing began to embed quite badly and it became infected. I sent Sharla photos and she recommended to switch out the bar to a longer one. After clearing out the infection I went to another piercing shop and asked what to do, got another bar and switched it out. It's doing a lot better now, but am still trying to heal it. The skin that was fusing to the jewelry Sharla had pierced me with is slowly receding. I am not sure why she (as the shop owner) pierced me with that jewelry in the first place. #do not go for any jewelry not circular also, it was $90 for the piercing and jewelry that I ended up having to take out and pay more for a new one to switch into.. kinda expensive.

I was thrilled to walk in the next day and look through his huge portfolio of decorative designs. I picked one out that I loved, and then he worked with me to make some alterations as well. He had a great attitude and was fun to work with. I'll admit that I was cynical about going to a tattoo shop that only employs men, but the vibes were super good and inviting, and funny, and I had a great time. I absolutely love my tattoo and the price was good.
