Despite the odd location, Sacred Lotus is a fantastic tattoo shop. All of the artists are incredibly talented and friendly, and the shop was spotlessly clean. I got my tattoo from Amy Ross who was absolutely the best. She was really receptive to my feedback on her designs and was able to bring my ideas to life. She even watched an episode of planet earth to get inspiration the night before my appointment! While the artists I'm sure are talented and friendly, I'm sad to say that I had a very poor experience with this tattoo shop. I was trying to figure out an idea of what I wanted and reached out to them. I understand that part of the price you pay is the work they put into designing your tat, but they were not interested in helping me at all. :( Whoever I spoke with through email basically told me that none of the artists were interested in helping me. I get that the artist should enjoy the piece they're doing, but at the end of the day, you're turning away someone willing to pay you for something? :/ It just gave me an elitist vibe from them. We found the Sacred Lotus by doing a Google search of Asheville tattoo shops. We checked out the portfolios and emailed an inquiry as to availability. All the female artists were booked (wife wanted a female artist), but I made one with Cameron Scofield. I emailed what I wanted, a tree of life depicting the different stages of life, and followed up with a phone call. Cameron had a sketch ready when we came in and got our input on it. He said what I wanted was typically a 3 session job, but as we were from out of town, he did it all then, about a 3 hour tattoo session. He did a really great job on the tree of life for me and Roman numerals for my brother in law. I would definitely recommend his work for your next tattoo. Walking around Asheville I got a few compliments on the new tattoo. Shop atmosphere was inviting, modern, and clean, not the traditional tattoo shops you usually see around. Sacred Lotus is better than 5 stars. When you walk in, they greet you and want to help you. I walked into another place in Asheville, sat there for 20 minutes, no one said anything to me, so I left. I'm glad I went to Sacred Lotus right after. This place has it right. And it has the most important thing for a tattoo shop, it's meticulously clean. I got a sick tattoo from Cameron. I love it. He's a great artist. Was ready as soon as I got there, asked if I wanted the design changed at all (which I didn't, because it was exactly what I had in mind), and took the time to place it how I wanted it. First, I have to say that everyone I have met at Sacred Lotus have been welcoming and open which means a lot to a newcomer to tattoos. The place is clean and neat and not at all like a few places I went to before deciding on Sacred Lotus. I first met Mars to discuss a tattoo who was very helpful (my very first) and she later had me meet Jessica. We met and i found she was quite open and interested in hearing my thoughts and the meaning behind my design in order to help her vision of it. The day before our session she asked my opinion and approval or suggestions for her design, and yesterday went in to see her for the first session. It was tremendous working with her. She is tremendously talented and the tattoo is beautiful. We have some more sessions to do to finish it up and am looking forward to them. I don't write reviews. I generally don't get excited about things I purchase and have never felt the need to explain to others what I like or dislike about products/services. Sacred Lotus Tattoo is the one and only exception. I started my journey almost three years ago with Sacred Lotus when my wife and I decided it was time for me to cover up a couple of really bad $35.00 tattoos from the 80's. I was lucky enough (yes lucky) to get to talk at length with Jessica Guillory, an artist at Sacred Lotus about what I had envisioned and what she thought would be possible. I started out with an idea of covering up my old tattoos on my upper arms with some kind of armor. Over nearly three years, the design morphed into a full Roman style armor on both my upper arms, chest and partial back. Each piece incorporates my family, faith, and heritage. Understand, Jessica specializes in sacred geometry, flowers and other "girly" and artistic pieces so this was way outside of what she was comfortable with normally. She listened to what I wanted and admittedly steered me away from some bad decisions and drew up a design that blew me away. With each session we would talk and share stories to pass the time. I quickly came to realize that while I was technically paying for a tattoo, it was also a kind of therapy session for both of us. When a conservative Christian, middle aged, southern white guy can sit and talk candidly for hours with a free spirited, peace loving, artist, you know you're in a special place. Sacred Lotus is filled with this kind of people. The whole crew are like family now and I can't imagine ever getting work done anywhere else. From Toni at the front desk, to Kimi Leger the owner, and everyone in between, Sacred Lotus is a top notch tattoo shop.....and I really hate to refer to it as a "tattoo shop" because it really is more than that. I've read a couple of reviews where people were upset about the artists being booked out for months. That's understandable but we're talking about art that will be on your skin the rest of your life. Trust me, as someone who spent a few thousand dollars and nearly three years on art work, it's worth the wait. When you walk into Sacred Lotus you will see several artists portfolios on the lobby table. What you won't see are any catalogues of commercial, pre-drawn cartoons, pick your number tattoos. If you've been drinking heavily and decide at the last minute to pick number 5 out of a catalog and go home sporting a mermaid wrapped in a Nazi flag holding an AR-15 on your left bicep......Sacred Lotus is probably not the place for you. If you want real art, the kind that you're not embarrassed of for years to come and you want to meet and spend time with some of the coolest people on the planet, the place for that is Sacred Lotus. If anyone reading this is old enough to remember a TV show called "Cheers", that's what I think of whenever I walk into Sacred Lotus. During a weekend trip, My boyfriend and I made an impromptu decision to get a tattoo that we've been talking about or 3 years. We were headed out of town on Sunday and after checking yelp and calling around to shops that were opened and whose work looked decent, we received the best reception from Sacred Lotus. Ben answered the phone asked us what we were interested in getting, told us that Jessica the artist would be available in about 30 minutes and to save us time we could email a photo of the design we wanted that we could get started when we arrived. We did as agreed and were happy to find that Jessica was ready and waiting on us. After some helpful hints about sizing and placement on the body we were started in no time. It actually took more time for her to prep and clean the area than it did for the tattoos to be completed-we were grateful for both! Needless to say, Jessica was amazing. She was super personable, extremely talented and we honestly felt like we were hanging out with one of our friends. It didn't hurt that they also had some really good music playing. I went to Sacred Lotus after interviewing a couple different artist around town. I had some work that needed finishing and decided Cameron Scofield seemed to be the guy that fit the bill. Cameron attempted to complete some previous work, although it did not visually appeal to me when he finished. I kept going back because I did feel the quality of his work to be worth the money and felt that if we collaborated together we could adjust the work that was done and turn it into something beautiful. The fourth time I had a scheduled appointment with Cameron he seemed disinterested, rude, snarky, short tempered, and over all pissed off he had to work on my tattoo. At $150.00 an hour I find that attitude unacceptable. That said, I thought perhaps he was just having an off day. Cameron proceed that day to literally rip through my skin causing damage that landed me at the doctors office, on antibiotics and almost two months later still not healed. The tissue damage runs deep into my skin and the pain is still not gone. Everything he did that day will have to be redone by another artist in an attempt to fix his "bad mood". But that won't be for some time due to the extensive healing that still must take place. This being the fourth time I went to him I am very aware that this is not his typical work. In fact, I dealt with his attitude that day (and some other days too) because I thought he was an exceptional artist with just a corky personality. I have attempted to contact the owner of Sacred Lotus to no avail. She has repeatedly ignored my letters and phone calls. There is a responsibility of all businesses to take care of their customers but especially when in the business of breaking someone's skin leaving them vulnerable to various long term, possible life altering problems. When you pay top dollar, you expect top dollar work ALWAYS. And when top notch work is not delivered after compensation, then good customer service goes a long way. I want people to know that if this can happen to me, it can happen to anyone on any day. I also want people to know that the waiver that is signed at the beginning of any service, no matter what language is in it, does not ever waiver negligence. If a tattoo is spelled wrong, if it is not implemented properly that is indeed negligence. What a waiver does cover is if you just decided you do not like that tattoo, that would not be the artist fault. Document, take pictures, and hold people accountable for mistreating (or otherwise) you as a consumer. We trust these people to do NO HARM to our bodies when we pay them an exceptional amount of money for their creative abilities. Mistakes happen, sure. But following up with customers when they do is vital to running a good business with happy customers that trust you. My hope is no one ever has to deal with what I have gone through which is why I have taken the time to write a review. It's been embarrassing, heartbreaking, expensive, and frustrating. read more

Sacred Lotus is the place to go for the best tattoo. I needed a cover up so I sent an email to Kimi Leger with a few options to cover up my grim reaper tattoo. I received a very nice and detailed email back from Kimi about what would work for the tattoo cover up. I was extremely impressed with the information sent in the email so I booked a consultation with Kimi. Once meeting with Kimi at Sacred Lotus, I was hooked. This place is super clean, neat, and has a great atmosphere. All the artist are very friendly and make you feel as if you were with family. My tattoo sessions with Kimi were put to great use. Kimi worked tirelessly to complete the masterpiece that I have now. I could not be more happy or pleased with the final result. I now have an AWESOME dragon tattoo that covers part of my chest, back, and right arm. The cover up worked perfectly and no one can tell there used to be a grim reaper on my arm.
