My husband ordered the carbonara with gnocchi for his meal and was disappointed, saying it had very little flavor. I ordered the crumbled calamari dinner. I wanted to substitute the french fries for vegetables of some kind, but they wouldn't let me. She said for a $2 charge I could get some seasonal veggies. I did that, but didn't realize that meant I didn't get the salad. Disappointing, but at least the veggies were barely cooked, just the way I like them. I got a huge mound of breaded calamari which was tasty. The garlic aioli as a dip was also very good. The fries remained uneaten. Went here for a decent priced pub meal and left a little disappointed. Rump steak was okay, except they laid the entire steak across my Caesar salad and chips. All I was left with was a soggy mess. Salad seemed to me pre-made hours earlier and resembled a soup more than a salad. We both love steak, and Beach house has got the best steak plus mushroom sauce by far. We've been trying a lot of other steak around brisbane-goldcoast but we always come back to Beach House. I think the reason the Beach House Bar & Grill is so perfect for such shenanigans is that it's really a group atmosphere. It's the perfect location to go for a meal or a few beers with mates when you want to stay in the throng of the action. It's also in a prime location in the middle of the city, so it makes for a great meeting point and central venue. I have actually never had a bad time at the Beach House Bar & Grill, but maybe that's because I've mostly gone there with boys? It's definitely a boy atmosphere, but girls will still get a kick out of the fun-loving ambience and live Friday night music. Beers are pretty cheap by the jug and the place is a great buzzing hive of activity when the weekend rolls around. Beach House is always a starting venue, never a finishing point. Great place to hang out for after work drinks, they have a nice patio in the Myers center overlooking Queens Street Mall. It definitely gets packed though so I recommend getting there as soon as you can! Seating does get really limited. There is usually someone playing live music which is always a plus! Before 6pm, they have great happy hour prices and some beers are $4 each! It's so hard to find places that serve drinks this cheap! The food is alright though. I got the chicken parm and it was just alright. The chicken was okay, a bit dry and I think it needed some more sauce or cheese that didn't dry up so quick. The chips were not as crispy as I hoped they would be, but still good if you want something to snack on. The best part about the night was when they raffled off a meat platter. I have never heard of such a thing before visiting Australia!! What an amazing thing to win, the platter had patties, sausages, sirloin, and another kind of steak. The bar is nice though because you can read each liquor bottle and see the prices they charge for each. This is by far the worst meal I ever had. I ordered the $40 beef rib expecting it to be amazing. It came out dry on the inside and covered in a thick layer of fat. The meat was bland but soft but still not enough to make up for everything else that's bad. Really disappointing Oh and 3 garlic prawns in an ocean of sauce for $8 is just ridiculous. If you're in the city, this is a good place for drinks with friends before or after an event. We've been here on occasion and never had any issues. We tried to order food once but the kitchen had already closed but finding late night food in Brisbane is hard to come by. Depending who is playing, the live music can be a great backdrop to your conversations. To order your drinks, just head to the bar and then sit wherever you'd like. It's not the most comfortable chairs or the cleanest and most orderly place but it'll do. I probably wouldn't take my parents here but have had a great time with a group of friends. read more

Every time I went there, they had a Live Band/Live Musician on and they were great, you just need to make sure you get there early because the place can get busy in a matter of seconds, so it is very hard to find a free spot near the band. Add onto that the live music on a Friday night or a Saturday night with all the songs I love from the 80s and 90s combine to make it a fantastic atmosphere. It does get quite busy here and they have like 3 Litre beer pipe looking thing so get in earlier to get a good seat on the balcony open air area. Not a a bad place on a cold winters day. I came here with a mate of mine and wanted to go here for lunch as I've always walked past it but never knew what the name of the place was until quite recent when I was in the city for something else. The food was surprisingly good as I originally didn't have high hopes on this place when looking at other reviews and thought should I try it or not but glad I did. The staff here are quite friendly and wasn't a long wait for the meals to come out. Only thing I found was that my fish was fairly large and while it was nice, I couldn't eat it all as I was so full and would suggest cutting down portion sizes on all their meals. Overall I would definitely come back here again and what I like about it is the view you get from sitting out on the balcony looking across the city and having a great time catching up with friends or family. read more

I ordered the nachos and a jug of cider from here on a hot day. While this place is very conveniently located just off the Queen Street Mall there were a few things I didn't like about the place. The cider was served in a plastic jug which meant it got warm very quickly. The barstaff did not offer ice cubes which seemed a bit odd to me. When the nachos came out they were well overcooked which to me wasn't acceptable as I ordered them at 11:30am before the lunch time rush. I have lived in Brisbane my entire life and never known this place existed until I looked up crossing Elizabeth Street the other day and went 'Holy Moly! There's a pub up there!' I did get some funny looks from other pedestrians but whether they were amazed I didn't know about the Beach House or worried that I was going to chat to them about it I'll never know. After a recommendation from a friend, I went there with a few people to try it out. It has a pretty chilled out atmosphere and there was some good live music playing. The food let the place down though. I think it would be a great place for a few beers in the city after work but find somewhere else to eat first. The nachos was a big soggy pile of corn chips under mince, a heavy layer of cheese and some sour cream and guacamole (artificial) slopped on top. Our steak was chewy and accompanied by soggy chips. So I can't give Beach House five stars as the bar food is very important to me when I am considering after work drinks (I'm a hungry drinker). Also, being a massive fan of nachos, their terrible attempt at it was almost offensive. read more

The Beach House is a very pleasant place to pop by if you are in the city to have a quick drink. If I am ever hanging out in the city with a couple a friends and someone suggests getting a drink, I will often suggest to go to Beach House. Not only is the Beach House in such a convenient location (inside the Myer centre) but it has a great open area that keeps the place looking very chilled. The bar is pretty much placed on a great big balcony. There are plenty of tables and chairs for groups of every size too so it never gets too uncomfortable. I like sitting on one of the tables along the edge to get a view of the city. The bar will have a nice selection of local beers and a small cocktails menu too but honestly, this is not the kind of place where you should be expecting the finest drinks menu. if you come here at night, there will usually be a cover artist perfuming on the small stage, otherwise they have plenty of TV showing music videos. I am a fan of the Beach House. Even thought there is nothing too fancy about the place, I enjoy it for its chilled environment and the location can't be beat. read more

"Which way the beach bra?" While the nearest beach is about an hour's drive south (unless you count the fake one at South Bank), these guys pull off the beach house vibe with their airy veranda setting, seafood-influenced menu and cover musicians strumming chilled out tunes (think a lot of Jack Johnson, Van Morrison, that kind of vibe). I've never eaten here but have kicked back and enjoyed a few schooners of beer and cider on tap (they do some good Irish ciders here) with friends. Come night time there seem to be just as many people there for the food as the drink (and many for both). The meals looked nice and ample, with old favourites like burgers, nachos, pizza and fish 'n' chips all there. Ordered $32 rib eye and garlic prawn topper. Was then asked what sauce i wanted? Said mmmm is t the garlic prawn topper in a sauce? Reply: no we don't have anything like that Ok ill have the garlic sauce for an extra $2. Sure enough when it came out i got three small prawns in a bowl of creamy garlic sauce, and another small pot of garlic sauce as well. And the steak was maybe a scotch fillet, but not a rib eye. This bar &a grill combo is really good for a bite to eat. I had the volcano wedges and the chicken breast plate with salad and chips. The chicken was cool to perfection with the moisture still inside with every bite along with some avocado to go along with it. The wedges were really good as well with the exception that the sweet chili sauce and sour cream were perhaps a little too cold that it almost felt rubbery when I tried to dip the wedges in it. Besides the 2 sides, everything was good. The live music was very enjoyable too. Just make sure pick yourself a good table near the music. read more

Very convenient location in the Myer Centre with a good atmosphere. We went on a very busy night but got a seat straight away and our food didn't take too long to come out. I ordered the grilled chicken with chips and salad and a mustardy sauce on the side. Others had a steak and a chicken and avocado dish. My chicken was nice but not something I would go out of my way to order again, the steak was cooked perfectly and well and truly enjoyed. The chicken and avocado with sweet chili sauce was quite nice but halfway through the huge amount of sauce became overwhelming. To me the ordering set up is a little confusing especially on such a busy night and your order needs to be shouted to be heard. The servers/ wait staff didn't have the time to explain anything to us (you had to collect your own cutlery, and then collect your meal). I don't mind collecting my own food but trying to get back to tables when it was so packed became like an obstacle course. It was very noisy but I didn't mind, you know what you're getting at the beach house. If you're looking for a convenient place for brekkie, lunch or dinner while shopping in the cbd this place hits the spot. read more
