Lovely spot to stay at with your dog. We had gone to the dog beach and didn't know that the ocean was loaded with tar and oil. Our Border Collie was filthy and the owner of the Beach House Inn, Pam, did everything she could to help us. Baby oil, dishwashing liquid, hose, paper towels. Who does that? Stayed here in June during COVID for our wedding anniversary and we were able to bring our dogs! Check in was super easy. They have a few spots on the street and they have sanitized pens out when you have to sign and plenty of hand sanitizer. We parked in the back and they were never full. Our room was cute and cozy. The bed was comfy and our dogs would agree. The room was clean but I'm a bit of a clean freak and I brought my own wipes and wiped everything down. The kitchenette was everything we needed. We had room for our water jugs and dog food. We grabbed dinner from nearby spots and there was plenty of room in the fridge and freezer. The bathroom was also a good size. The walls are kinda thin but hey, it's a hotel. The other guests were respectful and quiet. We brought our two Pomeranians and the streets around are enough to walk them around to do their business. This hotel is within walking distance of a park and a few eateries. We were able to walk to places with our dogs to grab food. The beach is also within walking distance so you don't have to drive. I highly recommend this place, most especially if you have dogs! read more

I'm definitely a fan of Beach House Inn! This is a cute cozy friendly Motel with pretty much everything you could need. You have a nice patio outside where you can enjoy free coffee and your pet can hang out too. Inside you have a huge screen TV with a nice selection of movies for free. There is a small desk for working and small kitchen with all the appliances you need for food and cooking. There is also free parking in the back. The rooms are somewhat quiet so you won't be disturbed at night and other guest's dogs don't bark. You are given a map of the area so you can easily find your way around Santa Barbara beach. The beach is 5 minutes walking distance and cafe's and restaurants are literally all around the area. The room we paid for was a total of $227 with pet fee included for 1 night and we thought it was worth it. I highly recommend this little Inn and I'm sure you won't regret it! read more

I loved this wonderful, cheery, romantic inn; but really they are more like cottages. The grounds were lovely, beautifully decorated with lush plants and the tranquil sound of water fountains. Included in this hidden gem are plenty of areas to relax outside and enjoy the Santa Barbara nights with your family, friends, and that special someone. The host and staff were friendly and accommodating and the location was absolutely prime - I walked everywhere! Inside this fantastic gem were well appointed rooms with a fully stocked kitchen. My favorite item about Beach House Inn was the Dutch doors - well done! Not only I'm I referring Beach House Inn to my friends, but I'm also I look forward to returning. read more

My husband and I absolutely loved this place for so many reasons. The courtyard pictures are what attracted me to book the room and it was even better in person! It was full of beautiful plants and trees that attracted hummingbirds, sparrows, finches, bluebirds, butterflies, dragonflies and more! It was comfy and peaceful. A great place to relax with coffee or a glass of wine. Who needs a pool! The room was so quaint and homey. It had a split door that was great because you can leave the top open for the view and airflow. There was a separate fully stocked kitchen area with fridge, stove, seating, toaster, coffee pot, and microwave. There were two comfy leather chairs with ottomans that we moved in front of the TV so we could watch a movie in the evening (from their DVD selection). The bed was comfy enough and the new windows have security stops so you can safely leave them open at night (but there is an air conditioner too). There is also a nice electric fireplace. My only issue is that there is no place to set your things in the bathroom to get ready and the dresser area is too dark so I kept walking back and forth. The staff was super friendly and helpful and everything is in walking distance. We parked the car in back of the hotel and left it there for the weekend. We cannot wait to come back and bring our dogs with us (and a lighted makeup mirror). We have stayed at a lot of nice hotels and I do consider myself a bit of a hotel/B&B snob (no hotel 6 or comfort inn for this girl!), but I can honestly say this was one of my favorite places to stay. We had a fantastic stay at The Beach House Inn over the holiday week. The location is in a quiet residential area that's close to the beach and State Street. The grounds were beautiful and the accommodations were just right for a casual, but comfortable stay. I felt like I was staying at my parent's house, but with way more privacy! We also love that the Inn is dog-friendly. Our dog loved snoozing in front of the fireplace at night and we enjoyed walking her through the neighborhood and looking at all the beautiful houses. I really liked this place. I parked my car in the loading zone while I checked in. I was immediately checking and given a key to my room, a quick run down of where my pups can go to the restroom, and a list of dog friendly establishments in the area. I thought the patio area was very colorful, clean, and spacious. There were lots of seats and space to enjoy the sun. Dogs are not allowed to relieve themselves on the patio in order to keep the plants and grass green. There are lots of other places for your pup to go potty so this was not a problem for me. I took my pup to the sidewalk and they had lots of bushes and grass to sniff. The room was really nice. The bed, chairs, and small kitchen are we're great. Everything was super clean and comfy. The fireplace was a bonus. it heated up the room nicely. I did not like the small sink. It was very very small and made it hard to wash my face or dishes without spilling water every where. The shower was huge though. Go figure. I love that each room has its own wifi connection. This made Internet speed fast and convenient. The internet connection was included and I did not pay extra for it. I recommend this dog friendly hotel. It was very friendly and clean. I will definitely come again. read more

I saw the reviews on a Yelp and I decided to give this place a try. The 4-1/2 star rating is accurate. The customer service was fantastic! The place itself is quiet, quaint and conveniently located to everything you may want to go. Two blocks from the beach, we walked to the pier and enjoyed an art show and went bike riding. They even referred me to a great doggy daycare so we could visit the Zoo! We stayed in the 1 bedroom suite which had a full kitchen which had glasses, dishes, pots and pans and a private patio and was humongous. They were lots of windows and two queen sofa beds and a sofa sleeper in the closet. Also in the bedroom, they was ample closet space. We definitely enjoyed our stay and I would stay here again. read more

I am so glad to have found this place when planning a Santa Barbara trip with the dogs. This is the place to stay if you are coming to Santa Barbara with the dogs. Even though they are pet friendly, the entire property was very clean and well kept. They are in a great location, within walking distance to most things you'd want to do in Santa Barbara. We spent most of the weekend walking to places. The Inn appears to be owned and operated by the husband and wife, so that made our stay felt very personalized and homey. Pet friendly, super clean, great location and great service. I think it's safe to say we will be back here when visiting Santa Barbara again. read more

We brought our dog and your not allowed to leave your dog in the inn, but that's perfect! The owner has a dog or two so they are extremely welcoming to every furry pet. We can't say enough good things about Beach House. We traveled with our dog and they were wonderful with him. There is a small fee ($10/night) for dogs but well worth it. Our 1 bedroom suite had a full kitchen which was stocked with pans, cups, dishes and many other cooking utensils. Valarie at the front desk was very sweet and was kind even though we showed up very close to 9pm, the office closing time. She spent time explaining where everything around town was and all the dog friendly restaurants. She even told us about Lazy Acres which is a health food grocery store and exactly what we were looking for when we arrived. The hotel is right near the pier and just a couple mile drive to the pet, off leash beach. We can't wait to come back and visit both the Beach House and Santa Barbara. Such a wonderful experience!! read more

We love it here. It is a beautiful home away from home. Tala is always given a dog treat upon check in and when we visit the office. She loves the doggie bowls each room has, the birds who live in or frequent the fragrant, colorful, bright, and sunny gardens for their seed and peanuts. In the summer months the blue ones follow us around. We are grateful the inn is on a quiet street close by to a large park with tennis courts, with a short walk up the hillside to the SBCC gardens and campus. Two blocks from the beach the inn is also perfect for a stroll to see the birds who live in the trees who make their interesting nighttime sounds. We love to walk to the end of pier for the sunrise. In the summer we use the showers and their lower taps for water sonTala stays cool. On ? the weekends there's craft/art booths set up along the parkway. State street (and Mcconnell's ) is another favorite walk- Tala pops her head in whenever we walk by cuz she loves her cup of dessert which they give the dogs- we especially love the Mission Street icecream location because they give her a huge cup of peanut butter yogurt. After all this walking we love to relax by the fire in our room, sit in the courtyard lounge chairs, and prepare a meal in the well stocked kitchens. When we have a room without a kitchen we use the fridge and coffee maker and have a picnic on the deck or in the courtyard. Soaking in the beautiful bathtubs or showering in the large showers with great hot water is a perfect end to the day before watching one of the million videos provided to guests. The staff and proprietors are incredibly welcoming, kind, knowledgeable about local life, interesting to talk with, patient and kind. Right around the corner is a Santa Cruz market which stocks fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, and everything else plus all the mexican food ingredients to make a fiesta. The beach house inn is a couple of blocks from the train station so it's an easy trip to make carless. They have a range of room types to accommodate different price ranges and needs,which is amazing as they r a small personal establishment. There are lots of windows which open and dutch doors on some rooms are lovely. We do enjoy the fresh breezes, the garden fragrances and the bird songs. drat did i post some photos twice?........sorry Although we have been coming here for about 7 years this is the first visit when it's been downpouring- the carport is much papaya is the enclosed walkway from it to the courtyard where overhangs allow for room access without getting soaked. read more

Extremely family and dog friendly. We stayed in the 2 queen with kitchen and fireplace. Furniture and appliances were dated but very clean. For families traveling with young child, there is a door between the kitchen and rest of the room, so I actually put my infant in the kitchen in his portable crib for naps and bedtime which was extremely helpful. Service was wonderful, no complaints from me. read more

I can't say enough about this charming Inn. For dog owners or anyone who wants a comfortable homelike vibe these 50's complexes are great. Every resort city in CA has a collection of these apartment-like places with the owners suite on property. And I have stayed in quite a few with my dogs over the years. I was so impressed I extended my stay which meant I got to see more than one room. The rooms are all immaculate and beautifully maintained. Often in the older charming places one expects sticky windows, wonky bathroom fixtures, quirky AV, AC etc, not here. Every kitchen was properly stocked with matching, organized dishes. The AC and TV's were top notch. Great bright bath with big tub shower, handheld with great reliable pressure. Everything worked properly. Outside is so cute and just invites one to sit. Guests would be QUIETLY coming together with their pets in the mornings and evenings. I love the freshly painted yellow and white color scheme with the Pepto Pink Dutch Doors and flowers everywhere. Pride of ownership shows here. Parking is easy and close to rooms but out of sight. Location is good with quick walk to beach and now hip lower State St. Beautiful neighborhood. It is next to Montecito Street which goes everywhere south of the 101 and is a straight line to the Douglas Family Preserve Which is probably the most stunning off leash dog area and beach in the world. Valery and her hardworking crew are running a master class on keeping things ship-shape. It was so comfortable and easy here. I could kick myself for not finding this spot sooner. But I am glad to have it now. . read more

Beautiful spot to stay with your dogs. The rooms are clean and well-maintained. We stayed in room 11 which is upstairs that has a beautiful balcony, refrigerator, microwave in some dishes. It was perfect for what we needed during a weekend stay in Santa Barbara. The location is ideal in just a couple blocks from the water. There is plenty of areas to take your dog to play just a few feet down the road. Obviously, there is a ton of great food within walkable distance as well. If you have dogs, this is the best place to stay in Santa Barbara would highly recommend it. Hope to come back soon. read more

What an amazing find! This place seems to be a converted apartment complex and so it has sort of a homey, "AirBnB" feel but with daily housekeeping service and onsite staff. We got room 12, one of the larger upstairs units, which was perfect for our family of four (me, my wife, and our 2 and 4 year old children). The suite is very private, with its own little patio area, a full kitchen and dining room, a living room with a pullout couch and a queen sized Murphy bed, then a separate bedroom with a King and lots of closet space. There's ample parking in the back, and there's a very nice courtyard with chairs and tables to relax in and socialize with other guests, and there's hot coffee available there every morning. They even have a selection of DVD's for you to watch in your room. It's the perfect type of place if you're traveling with small kids, or just plan on spending a lot of time at your hotel. The hotel has WiFi, with a separate router and WiFi network up in Room 12 (probably in 11 as well) since the main hotel WiFi isn't very strong upstairs. It was a great place to be for the 4th of July: a short walk from the waterfront fireworks, no need to hassle with driving and parking. When it's not the 4th, easy access on foot to the MTD waterfront shuttle and the Harbor, and not super far from Stearns Wharf and Lower State Street. We were able to do most of what we had planned without even using our car. There's also a couple of small stores around the corner well within walking distance, if you need to make a beer or wine or snacks run. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with great tips on local food and things to do. I highly recommend this hotel to families traveling with small kids. We'll definitely be back again! read more

It's been a LONG time since I've stayed in Santa Barbara, so it was time to pay this town a visit! We scored on getting a room here from our Hotel Tonight app, and very happy with this place -- price, location, and ambiance were all great! I think we were the ONLY guests here without a dog, and almost bummed we didn't have one. We had the luxury to pick which room we wanted, and we grabbed one towards the front -- large room, king size bed, kitchenette, fireplace, A/C, & a nice sized bathroom. We chatted with a couple who "winters" here from Seattle, and this location has been their go-to spot after they tried some other hotels, so that was good to know. Mad props to the woman who checked us in -- she gave us a map of the town, recommendations on where to go, what to eat, and wine tasting in the area. Ok, so let's address the camera situation. Yes, there are cameras, lots of them. Who DOESN'T have camera these days? Our own home has 4 just on the inside, the only difference is they are pretty well hidden. You can just see all of these cameras here. My husband and I are "crazy magnets" and seriously had two hobos approach us one block away from The Beach House Inn to engage in an in-depth discussion about D.R.I. (How did these two hobos peg us to be ex-punks?) Anyhow, I wasn't bothered by the cameras, we're in the 21st century, and I think people need to realize if you're not being watched, you've just advertised where you are by owning a phone, or posting your whereabouts on Facebook or Yelp. Don't leave your pet alone in the room or $250 fine, really?? I literally just parked my car on the street and put my dog in it (January night in socal, he was comfortable) while I went to eat so you won't fine me. It's clear that some bad apples wreaked some destruction here in the past - physically, legally or otherwise...this place has more cameras than Orwell can count- and on behalf of everyone else: "Must we, too, suffer?" Your dog-friendliness is a major seeing selling point, and commendable, but not disclosing your overcompensated policy to combat dog loneliness until I'm physically there is a bit sketch. When I moved to the US my company put me up at the Beach House Inn for a month and it was awesome. First of all the location is unbeatable being close to the beach but not immediately at the boardwalk. Secondly the rooms have a kitchen area or even a full kitchen which is extremely helpful if you have to stay for a while. The best thing though is that the rooms are super spacious and clean and open up to the courtyard which is furnished with tables & chairs to hang out. I truly recommend staying here if you do not look for the typical Hotel accommodation. BTW: the couple running this place is very friendly and helpful. They totally made me feel welcome and at home especially since I had practically moved across the world and didn't know anybody. read more

It's true. Room 11's where it's at! (See Terra's review) You can get away with topless tanning here. Nobody will know - trust me. Staff is so friendly. They let us check in early. And when we left to walk around town before taking the train, they allowed us to leave our bags in their office so that we didn't have to lug our shit around. So nicey! It's blocks away from the beach. You get free coffee in the morning. You're greeted by smiling faces and brightly colored chairs and cottages. Rooms are pimped out in shabby chic decor -- I got a pink bathtub, fire place, fridge, microwave... the works! Good place in a sweet, little 'hood. Note: 7-11 & Santa Cruz Market are right around the corner for your grocery store needs! I spent more time in this room than roaming around the overrated town of Santa Barbara. No offense all! Came here on late check out and the front desk lady was super accommodating. There are very few double bed rooms for four people in SB apparently, but they had an available room so we booked it. We ended up getting the room with the king size bed and two twins which was even better for us. I was really happy with the clean room, decor and the super clean bathroom with Pantene toiletries and four sets of towels for use. We were in room 1a, and it had a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and even a doggy bowl for water. The two twin beds were in their own room so that was nice and there was a fire place in the master bed area. Free Wifi and a Flat screen in each room, its almost nicer than my place! They have coffee available in the morning and the whole feel is relaxed. Its about two blocks from the beach. I will be sure to set up a reservation here next time I'm visiting! read more

We decided to book a room here on our way back into LA after 10 days of camping up the West Coast. It was Labor Day weekend and it was difficult to find a place that was available (and one that allowed dogs) but Val and Jim welcomed us with open arms! Typically there's a minimal stay of two nights but Val waived that to accommodate our last minute needs. The Inn itself is adorable and the rooms are very clean and cozy. Val even gave us dining recommendations that were dog friendly. The location is great, close to the beach and within walking distance to many restaurants and bars. I would definitely recommend this Inn to stay (especially if you have dogs) and we will most certainly return in the near future! read more

We were greeted with a warm smile at the reception desk and when we went to our room we were so surprised. The room was spacious, cozy and VERY clean! The fireplace was truly a fun bonus.
