We couldn't have picked a better venue for our daughter's wedding. We have enjoyed the hotel on multiple occasions and felt it would be the perfect spot... and it was that and more! The location, the resort layout with tiki pavilions, the 2 pools, and of course their beach! All the staff was pleasant and attentive. The shining star was Lynn, the event planner. She made sure everything was taken care of with kindness and grace. Couldn't have done it without her. The guest rooms, suites and cottages are beautifully designed as tropical modern and very clean and comfy. We couldn't have been happier. I am extremely disappointed with the policy and lack of compassion shown by the Beachcomber Resort & Club. Due to an unexpected medical emergency, we were forced to cancel our upcoming stay. Despite explaining the circumstances and providing the reason for the cancellation, the hotel refused to issue any type of refund or accommodation. While many hotels understand that genuine emergencies happen and try to work with guests, this resort chose to strictly enforce their policy without any consideration for the situation. It was incredibly frustrating and disheartening to be treated this way during an already stressful time. Policies are one thing, but customer service and compassion should matter too. A simple gesture of understanding--whether a refund, credit, or even partial accommodation--would have gone a long way. Instead, the response felt cold and dismissive. Travelers should be aware that if something unforeseen happens, even something as serious as a medical issue, this property may not be willing to work with you. Beware. Manager let herself in thinking we weren't there!!! It's a family owned resort so there's no corporate office, no name tags, no accountability. Be very careful. We just got back after visiting from New York. I was at the pool and my husband was in the shower with a do not disturb sign on the door. My husband thought he heard something so he walked out naked from the shower and saw the manager Carol (or so they say as there are no name tags) in the room with the door open. she let herself into the room after she knocked and no one responded. My husband was completely naked yet, she continued to ask for a different card as the one on file was declined. (We're traveling and it was flagged for fraud). She didn't even try to call or email or call room or wait to try again after I got a notification only 5 minutes before ! Again I was in the pool. With 2 kids. When I asked why she didn't just call me she said she didn't check to see if there was a phone number on file. Didn't take responsibility and was super nasty insisting that was policy. I have NEVER in my life heard of a hotel policy where management can let themselves into the room requesting a different card. She admitted that she knocked, and nobody answered and still let herself in has she stated that even with the do not disturb sign she's had people leave without paying in the past. I'm not sure what she was trying to achieve other than going into my bag and personally taking a credit card out since the assumption is that nobody's in the room if nobody answers when you knock and there's a do not disturb sign. Do NOT stay here unless you want a subpar stay with a horrid, waste pipe bathroom lobby smell, sandy hotel room with loud HVAC and horrid,terrible, horrendous management. read more

I did the resort pass staycation here. Pool and beach access plus first come, first serve pool and beach chairs and umbrellas. The resort gave us a free parking pass for self parking across the street. We ended up purchasing an upgrade for a cabana. The cabana was excellent and comfortable. It comes from air conditioning unit, TV and a free bottle of beer or champaign. The ugrade was definitely worth it. Around this time of year is off season. We were able to get beach chairs and umbrellas and also chairs and umbrellas at the pool. The staff at the front desk, the employee who was on the beach and our cabana attendant were excellent and friendly. We did order drinks and food while in the cabana. On the beach area was live music and access to the ocean view restaurant was also available. Despite the rain, it was a wonderful experience. read more

Rented a cabana for the day with family and we had a relaxing, beautiful time. Reminded me of how Miami Beach used to feel like. Lunch was good and the piña colada's were perfect. Next time I'm back will def spend a few days here instead of a quick day trip. read more

My room was dirty and shower didn't drain, also had dirty linens upon arrival. This was a celebration for my 30th birthday and they still didn't take care of the problem when sending maintenance and the cleaner for freshened room. Came back and just place clean bed linens on top of the dirty ones. I called they upgraded us and still had issues. This place is advertised as newly renovated and it was definitely not. The pool had a ring of black mold on the inside and cloudy water. Charged another $45 dollars a day for use of amenities when wasn't not told prior to the booking and not included in our stay when purchased through Expedia . It cost us another $600 in top of it for not even a decent room for the price we paid. I was truly disappointed. Also the beaches were covered in kelp. Also lounge chairs and umbrellas looked 15 years old , had stains on everything. The serving staff is great when you're dealing with them. But you would also have to ask for someone to come out and serve on the beach when someone should be coming around during the day for drink orders/food. Also the room thermostats suck and the room doesn't get below 75 degrees along with the phone in the upgraded room didn't work when in the other room it did. I took me a while to save for this trip and it felt like truly a waste of money. The description of this place is not what it says to be. It's older just nicely enhanced photos. This pompano beach location is a dump. It started with not getting the room I prepaid for, then as I approached my room, it was left ajar, the tub was not clean and the room looks like it was updated in the Brady Bunch era. "Here's a story..." I would run by the this option and wouldn't even consider this place if I had to do it over. The bartender in the lounge was outstanding, however, I do wish I remembered her name. Very pleased with my experience at Beachcomber. Wound up with an oceanfront view that was absolutely spectacular, even though I had only booked "partial oceanfront". Intentionally sought out and chose this resort to relax, and this resort more than accommodates anyone seeking the same. Some of the negative reviews I have read are just baffling - all aspects of my experience were satisfactory or well above. EXTRA high marks for the cafe staff for being absolutely first class with my iced coffee every morning. Main restaurant (Deep) food ranged from fair to good -- would not say it is above average or worth going out of the way for, but perfectly serviceable while staying on the grounds of the resort. I would love to return to this resort another time soon. Highly recommend for your money. read more

I booked this resort based on the advertised price and amenities, but was surprised to find undisclosed fees added at checkout. These charges were NEVER CLEARLY STATED at the time of booking - neither in the confirmation email nor on my phone conversation with the manager, Carol. When I questioned these fees, I was met with hostility by a smug desk clerk. His stuttering, vague explanation did not match the booking terms. This is a gotcha tactic to advertise lower rates and make up the difference with fees tacked on to squeeze extra money out of guests. The property itself was fine, not good, and a bit dated. But when a business isn't transparent about pricing, it erodes trust. And with the quality of the actual property definitely second tier, it is a foolish move. These people are very deceptive. They do not disclose fees and lead you to believe they will only place a hold for one night's stay at check-in. Then they tell you, after gouging you with the fees, that it was on the reservation paperwork. I asked them repeatedly when I prepaid for my stay to disclose all fees, and they lied to me. Don't be fooled by them. Until this resort addresses communicating its rates and fees clearly, I cannot recommend it. read more

The bar outside (which is a spot for us) was not so great, these bartenders are lacking in, set ups,and the personality's, a bit hash. I really love the setup here. The common areas are well maintained an beautiful. It reminds me of a resort in Mexico. Our friends came here and recommended it to us. The rooms are old but some are very large. Our room is in the 900's and it had 3 big living spaces. It has two pools and some nice cabanas that you can rent poolside with tvs and couches. The bar and restaurant are right on the beach and the ambiance and views are incredible. You can have a nice meal right on the sand at a nice table with an umbrella. Many things I loved about about our stay here, but the key word is inconsistency. Some employees were amazing, some were not, and literally stated that they could not care less. We had a large group and the accommodations were great and the property itself was nice. Some room views are better than others, and there are different sizes and styles that may or may not suit your needs for a stay. Research and look at the pictures. I also recommend you inspect your room upon arrival, as some had a few issues, such as odors or maybe a less than thorough cleaning. My room however, was fine. We enjoyed the piano bar area at night with higher end specialty cocktails and live entertainment some nights. The piano bar area serves coffees and basic breakfast items in the morning. There is an on site restaurant that is moderately priced with a good variety. I would consider staying here again, but definitely learned from the experiences of others in my group. read more

The weekend we were here, it was unusually cold in Florida, when I asked how to operate the heaters in the room because it was cold, I was told they don't work. O'Neil offered a blanket. Never got it. 6. Managers Rhett and O'Neil not helpful, and disrespectful. Never solved any of my issues. Rhett actually scolded me in the lobby with two other men after I was frustrated for not being able to get into my room. Cried in the lobby. Take away. I used to absolutely LOVE the Beachcomber, but things have changed. Now, I guess the worst of the changes is the live non-stop karaoke style singer that sings daily 4 pm - 8 pm by the outdoor dinning area thus destroying any chance of sitting peacefully on your room's ocean front balcony. The music is WAY too loud. Both pools once open without restraint are now gated. The pool also have VIP rentable areas, which are laughable. The tiki bar that was quaint and nestled in the back is now a large bar that serves the restaurant and beach traffic. The floors of our room were dirty when we checked in and due to covid, you have to demand maid service. Moreover, if you choose not to get maid service you have to stalk the front desk and call multiple times to get towels or toilet paper or sheets. It seems they have zero plan or procedure for providing guests with the basic necessities. Which is strange because COVID has been going on for over a year now. The desk staff is not friendly, but they are polite. Okay now for the good things: The new chairs on the balcony are amazing. The beach chair claiming system has improved. You go down early in the morning, talk to Randy and claim your spot for the day. Judy and Ricky are wonderful bartenders, even though the heart of the establishment, Steve, is now gone. The food in the restaurant is still good and consistent. Moreover, the restaurant still has the best views in town. Final thoughts: The old Florida charm that the Beachcomber once boasted is gone. After staying here for 35 years, I guess change should be expected. However, the hotel needs to think about all of their guests' needs, wants and desires and stop focusing on the dinning area re: loud music. It would be lovely to listen to the ocean in my room and not hear this loud music. read more

Do yourself a favor and do not book a room here. We booked a room with "ocean views" just to have it blocked by a giant palm tree. After we went to bed we were woken up by what sounded like a Chuck E. Cheese party next door- mind you it's midnight. These walls are paper thin so unless you want to pull an all nighter like you're 20 years old be a guest and stay at the beachcomber "RESORT" We called the front desk and we were moved to another room, without the issue being addressed. This room was not a ocean front room with a king bed however it was going to be a room for some peace and quiet and good night sleep. WRONG. We walked into this musty humid room and quickly turned on the AC just to find it blowing out hot air... just when we thought it couldn't get any worse, it did. We had two options sing along with the kids at 1 am or sleep in a room in the middle of summer with no working AC in south Florida. I am so disappointed. This place was highly recommended by our family who live in Pompano Beach and come here to have a nice weekend getaway. The only renovations is the front of the building and the lobby. The rooms are stuck in the 80s and clearly the air conditioning units are as well. This is not a resort nor is it a 3 or 4 star hotel. This is an over priced one star no sleep, wake up in sweat kind of motel. read more

I loved my stay at the Beachcomber. The rooms were very clean and cute, and the staff were so kind and welcoming. The valet team from the moment we arrived to when we left were also extremely kind and went out of their way to make sure you were taken care of. While staying here I also was able to receive a free upgrade from the partial view to the full view with balcony which was such an amazing surprise. Oliver the manager was very accommodating. Our room did not have a mini- fridge although for an extra $10 per day I could rent one ! Absolutely ridiculous. The rooms including bedding and furniture needs to be renovated. The old fashion window type air condition is extremely noisy, making it difficult to sleep. Very disappointed. I have lived here since the 70's and have been going to the Beachcomber for years. We have come with 5-8 people to brunch at the bar every Sunday since Easter. Our meals every weekend never came out on time. Sunday, I waited for an hour for my Mahi sandwich! All of my friends had already finished their meals. Unacceptable! I remember the old days with Steve, the bartender who created their Bloody Mary mix. You never had to wait on him for a beer. He was attentive and sold a lot of beverages to us Locals. The kid behind the bar never took off his sunglasses and never asked if we were ready for another beverage, never. We had to raise our hand to get his attention. There are maybe 18 seats at the bar? The beach doors weren't even open. 2 bartenders and the service was that terrible?? When I inquired about my sandwich, he said he was sorry but he "wasn't in charge of the grill". I almost came over the bar!! The two previous weekends, the experience was similar. The young lady is the only asset out there. The local family that owns the Beachcomber should be mortified. This hotel has so many inconsistencies it is hard to track them all. Having had the privilege to travel around the Globe, I've never met such a poorly trained hotel "Manager" as Oneal. When legitimate guest concerns were brought to his attention he would put on an Oscar-worthy performance of helplessness. However I wanted to go somewhere special for our anniversary and we found this hidden gem becauSe we booked a lunch reservation at The Deep which is their Oceanside restaurant (& by Oceanside I really meant it, you're dining with sand on your feet) I was so happy with the service, the food that I decided to walk around with my husband around the hotel . It def doesn't feel like South Florida. The hotel is calm, classy, modern and comforting. I came back last month for valentines and booked a cabana at the beach and also had an amazing experience .
