Caring nursing staff. They are people who are ethical, and are all professional about taking care of your love ones.

He spent the last week of his life here and was treated with dignity, care, and respect. I noticed that the hospital staff (or volunteers) had crochet butterflies with a short prayer attached to them. The butterflies were placed on his pillow and chest. He looked peaceful. The receptionist at the front desk was sweet and pleasant. She took a photo of all visitors for the temporary badge. The hospice is located in a very peaceful setting, overlooking Long Island Sound. This was actually America's first hospice. The interior was a bit outdated, but the outside view was beautiful and serene. Rest In Peace, David Kniess.

Out of the 3 months, the Aide was here 10 times. When questioned, I was told there was a problem. My parent had no Aide for the entire month of September. When she became in-patient, giving me Respite, I was contacted 3 days in a row. I was asked questions on how to handle my parent. Isn't this Hospice? Shouldn't they know how to handle a dementia patient???? The nurse schedule changes, no consistency. I'm so disappointed in the non-services of CT Hospice.

After…read morenine weeks, I can only say their service has declined markedly since we hired them in 2016 to look after our father in similar circumstances. Our biggest gripes are the awful scheduling services, and the very gruff, uncaring women who answer their phones. 90% of my phone calls to the central number leave me feeling the person answering the phone resents being bothered with my questions. Although the individual aides and nurses, have been good, our problem is the complete lack of any consistency in scheduling. Numerous times during these 2+ months, aide visits have been changed on the day of arrival minute. We never receive any advance information about nursing visits except for the planned days of visits. No expected windows of time for their visits are ever offered. We have complained about this for six weeks in a row, and the receptionists who answered the phones simply could not care less. The case manager nurse who took over for my mom several weeks ago has never been back. And with all the nurses, it is extremely burdensome when they never tell us an expected time of arrival, so we have to wait throughout the day wondering whether they will come at 9:00 am or 2:00 pm. It makes it impossible to leave home on these days to run errands, take a care-taking break, or anything. It is an unneeded stress placed on family that could be solved with simple professionalism of informing us of a time window for arrival. I agree with a few other reviewers here that while the care itself is not bad, the awful lack of communication is a problem that Masonicare neither cares about nor seems interested in solving. They seem clueless on what family caretakers are going through.

Unfortunately Highland Caregivers Management Staff are intensely emotionally abusive to their…read moreCaregivers. The Staff mostly Amy and Mariah treat their employees with harsh words, they take back scheduled work 2 minutes after offering, they had zero compassion when my Grandfather passed away- I actually was told by Mariah that if I can not work due to his services that she would remove me from the schedule- that was stated to me by her the day he passed away. Amy had fired me for a sick day then rehired me after Scott and Carolyn stated I would always have a career with them. I had Cancer for 2 years straight therefore I am sick in the morning hours- I had called out of a morning shift due to vomiting- the next day they fired me. I called and asked why my work app was not active- The staff member stated: there is a glitch in the system- they lied. The following day I called again and was told by Mariah and Amy that I was deactivated/fired. I did nothing wrong except that I was ill. One upper management staff had let me know we were suppose to finally get a raise in April, yet due to Management being very stressed and fighting with eachother- raises never happened. I work for Yale and also a Behavioral Technician, and have been a wonderful employee of Highland for a long time. I am highly disappointed in this company. I was told that my elderly client was lieing when she reported a staff member pushing her and being rough with her to the point that my client had to call the police. She was not lieing. Myself and other coworkers caught a staff member stealing objects from our clients closet and stole a phone charger- Amy stated shes a good Caregiver and did nothing about it. One night my client kept waking up talking about his Wife whom passed away- I spoke to him about his Wife and he said a prayer to her- I was taken off the schedule for 3 days by Amy for discussing religion. Scott had said I would always have a career with them, he is a great Man to work for, so is Carolyn and John. It is very disgusting that a company whom is paid to care for our Family members does not care at all how they treat their very underpaid Caregivers. I would never recommend anyone I love to work here, nor have my Family under their control. :(
