Terrible!--My poor mother was suffering. I called day and night and no one ever called back…read more Lacked compassion and caring. No one really likes them, they have a bad reputation, and people are very wary of them. A stone faced nurse came to my house and threw morphine and sleeping medication at me and I had no idea what to do. I met this nurse when my mother was discharged at New Milford Hospital, and all she talked about was being my mother's private nurse with a big smile on her face. I told her that we already hired a nurse, then, she came to my house, would not look me in the eye and handed me morphine with no directions. I had to call a friend of mine who was a nurse for help. Horrible experience. Treated my dying mother like a dog.

Said okay I get it tell the nurse to call me and let me know so I can call the right one, he was the worst he's been and ripping his oxygen out and was flailing and then eyes went big and went limp, no breathing, now deep breaths with apnea. ALL I wanted was advice. Not a home visit, just a helpful voice to tell me what to do right. His wife is in the hospital and we are all he's got since this place is swaying with the full time care too. We almost lost him and NO nurse called back. Very very very disappointed. I suggest if we say it's an EMERGENCY and we say we JUST need some advice then please call back. But nope. Thanks VNA.

I had a wonderful experience with Whiskers Pet Rescue in Southbury, CT…read more Marta and all the volunteers are incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and clearly dedicated to the cats' well-being. They helped us rescue three eight year old cats after their owner suddenly passed away. The rescues got complicated as the days passed but Whiskers stayed by our side through the very last rescue. They even helped with 2 outdoor cats the deceased owner had been feeding. I got to spend time in the Whiskers facility and noticed every cat is cared for with so much love, patience, and attention, and it really shows. The facility is clean, calm, and welcoming, and they take the time to match each cat with the right home. It's clear that this rescue goes above and beyond to give cats a second chance at a happy, healthy life. I'm so grateful for the amazing work they do and highly recommend supporting or adopting from Whiskers Pet Rescue in Southbury. Sincerely, Megan Lutz

I fed a cat that started appearing near our house. At first, I thought it was feral, but after interacting with it, I suspected it was lost or abandoned and over time the cat allowed me to pet it and get close. With temperatures dropping below zero the last two weeks and unable to bring it inside due to having two cats already, I reached out to Whiskers desperate for help. I was asked to complete an application and a surrender form (it wasn't my animal to surrender),and was asked to send pictures and videos and at least one that proved I was interacting with the cat. Lots and lots and lots of hoops to jump through in order to keep an animal from freezing to death. While I understand the need for caution, I experienced unnecessary delays. Fortunately, another adoption agency visited my home, saw the cat themselves, and accepted it. They later sent me a video of the cat happily purring on its foster caregiver's lap. I am not a vindictive or mean-spirited person, but I do tell it like it is and this particular experience for me was very disappointing.
