The Cobbler Cafe latte (white peach and apple puree)
    Pamela K.

Who is rating Beacon Coffee Co. & Mercantile anything below 5 stars??? This place is SUCH a GEM!! Gourmet coffee, espresso, pour overs, Turkish coffee, seasonal lattes, artisanal lattes.... Beacon Coffee has absolutely perfected their flavored lattes and cider. Wow! If you like flavored/fruit flavored lattes, this is the spot to go to. We tried the Cobbler Cafe latte (white peach and apple puree), Davenport Cortado (dark chocolate and maple latte) and the cider (which has Anjou pear). All. Drinks. Hit. The mercantile shop and other goodies for sale were well curated and fit the cozy/contemporary vibe inside. Super friendly and helpful staff as well. We could've stayed there all day! Amazing coffee spot. A highlight of Beacon, not to be missed!

Really enjoyed this experience here! The employees were so kind and helpful and very knowledgeable about the coffee! We ordered something simple, two cappuccinos. But they were delicious! The flavor wasn't bitter and it didn't need any sugar whatsoever! We took a seat at their bar area. It is such a cute coffee spot. I'll definitely return!

I'm writing this review on my mother's behalf. "Today I decided to treat myself to a coffee. It was not busy, walked in and placed my order and paid.I waited for 20 minutes while other customers placed orders and were served and back out of the door before my drink was started. I kindly asked the cashier for my money back, and returned his change. I will not be returning." *** I would like to add that my mom informed me that she was the only person of color in the store at the time. A point that stood out to me, because I've been there dozens of times, and never have I received treatment like this. Even on busy days it's never taken me more than 5 mins to get my drink. Intentional or not. It's 2026, be more mindful of how you treat your customers. ***

    Delicious latte!

Recently tried their other location in Cornwall, so I knew this would be good. Even bigger location, really modern and comfortable. Great guys behind the counter. Had a fantastic pour over coffee that was a blend of three beans, smooth and delicious. My wife enjoyed a latte with a hint of smokiness. Very tasty! Definitely looking to return!

Awesome coffee. Very friendly staff. Over three days I had two of the iced seasonal specials and a classic pistachio latte. All of them were perfectly balanced. Pretty pricey (~$10), but worth it. There are a bunch of comfy seats with outlets. A great place to do some work and chill. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

Cool place to hang out. We came here after a hike to hydrate. Loved the summer iced lattes. We got Hawaii themed and strawberry field. Tasted pretty good! Nice baristas. Also interesting coffee blends.

    "Ippodo Sayaka Matcha"

We ordered the "Ippodo Sayaka Matcha"- very excited initially as I have tried the Ippodo brand and Sayaka matcha tin but it tastes nothing like it. Color was brown, tasted grainy and nothing like Ippodo. I would understand if that brand ran out and they had to substitute, but it was very false advertisement of matcha for those who enjoy it. Better off coming here for only coffee.

I mean, this is a good cup of coffee.

BCC is the froofiest, best, and most expensive cup of coffee in town. If you are into froofy, like really good coffee, and don't mind paying for the privilege - this is the place. The pastries are also terrific, but seriously - don't look at the Square screen when the total comes up. Just swipe blindly and enjoy your Everything Croissant that they hauled up here from Brooklyn. The baristas are also probably the friendliest in town. There's a bunch of surly/chilly/diffident baristas at several of our other coffee places, but that has never been my experience at BCC. I totally dig their outrageously expensive merch as well. I covet the Shinola bags and bike on the wall, even if I'll never get across the finish line to spend that kind of scratch on either a tote bag or a bike. The space is super cozy, even if there isn't a ton of seating. They've been slowly adding stuff as best as they can to address that though. If I have one ding - the crazy automated board that displays all kinds of rotating messages is noisy as heck! But someone spent a lot of money on it, so I'm sure they want to use it as much as possible. :)

First the good--this place is absolutely adorable! Great decor and the goods are fun and quirky! The menu is amazing, and the baked goods (we tried the kouign amann) are to die for! The service was friendly. Now for the breakdown--the menu is very detailed and ambitious. However neither of the drinks we tried bore a resemblance to the nuanced descriptions on the menu. Was the coffee good? Yes. But I wouldn't have been able to guess either of our drinks based on the taste versus the description. My drink in particular was supposed to have malted chocolate and I tasted zero. In fact my coffee was scorching hot and quite frankly taste burned. Which brings me to my last point--they were absolutely slammed when we arrived and we waited quite a while for our drinks. I watched them work, and while they had a quick pace, I fear the craft aspects of the drinks were lost in the shuffle. I see all the other good reviews and I am sure they are true--I would have liked to come back when they were less busy to see if the drinks were better. All in all I aim not to discourage anyone from trying this place, because it's definitely a great place to visit--but perhaps to exercise caution if they are busy. Maybe one day I'll be able to come back and give them another shot!

We ordered the Americano & the hazelnut latte. I was a bit disappointed with the Americano because it tasted burnt, but the hazelnut latte was sweet and absolutely delicious. The coffee shop itself had a warm, homey vibe that made it feel really inviting--something I especially appreciated as I was visiting from New York City. I'd definitely come back to give the Americano another shot, but the hazelnut latte alone is worth a try.

Super cute cozy small town coffee shop vibes with good coffee!!! Got the pumpkin spice latte bc tis the season and it did not disappoint. Loved that it was spice forward and not too sweet! Barista was nice and gave us some good suggestions as well!

Super cute coffee shop. Lots of interesting wall art and decor. They also have a lot of merchandise for sale. The seating areas are comfy and provide entertainment like a tik tac toe board. Lots of drink options on the menu and pastries from Balthazar.

A look from the entrance to the cafe.

I stopped here quickly with my handicapped father. He has been here a few times and referenced it as his "jam". I have to say I really enjoyed it. Granted I was rushed. I look forward to going back. Great vibe. Plenty of seating. Cozy. Wonderfully decorated. I didn't even have a chance to really check out all the sweets they had to offer. Everything looked so lovely, straight out of a magazine. All the people in the shop were smiling having a good time. I really look forward to going back with my girlfriends. Had a "Europe meets NYC" feel.

Private events here also HIT. The space can turn into anything you want. The layout of the coffee shop is a bit funky but it's exactly what gives it character. The chocolate croissants here area MUST but word on the street is their almond croissants are even better. I wasn't able to try them since by the time we came here they were sold out but we really enjoyed our drinks, croissants and danishes. Using top of the line La Marzocco to make you the perfect espresso drink, you can choose from cappuccino to latte, to flat white. I got the flat white with macadamia nut milk and lavender syrup served in glass and it was absolutely delicious. The cool thing is you get to sit right in the room where the magic happens: the roasting. The plants give it the right touch and it's the perfect space to come and get some work done while you sip on some delicious coffee.

The coffee house was clean and the bathrooms were clean as well. The staff were very friendly. They offer a variety of coffees, typical of an artisan coffee shop. There was food and different types of good looking pastries offered. We ordered a Macchiato but they didn't know how to make that. So we settled on two Cappuccinos. The prices were a bit cheaper then other well know coffee places. The cups and lids were a bit of a disappointment. They were cheaply made and I was worried the lid would pop off. Unfortunately we were not impressed with the coffee. It was watery and weak and we ended up not finishing them. This is a very nice looking shop, and the staff was sweet, but unfortunately the mediocre coffee doesn't make it worth a return visit for me.

It was literally the only place I could find on short notice with reservation slots available, which maybe should have been a sign (and certainly a reminder to me to be much more proactive about this sort of thing in the future). This was sort of a meet in the middle for us; she's in Redding, CT, and I'm in North Jersey. Common Grounds is located at the end of a strip mall, though arguably a higher-end one. The parking lot was VERY busy and while spots were relatively easy to find, I had to settle for one further away close to the bowling alley next door. All good though in that regard. The first hint that this was going to go downhill happened almost immediately. Despite having made the reservation for 11, our designated table wasn't available for seating because the prior party was "lingering." There wasn't a time limit on the dining parties so it seemed like Common Grounds just made assumptions on when people would leave, which is probably not an exact science on the best of days, and certainly not on a day where you might have a family reunion element. We were offered a large high-top table to sit at instead, which my mother isn't comfortable with, and after a few minutes of sitting there, were instructed to take a "normal" table by the window. I will give props for the hostess reading the room in that regard and doing what she could to give us an optimal seating situation - the wait and miscalculation wasn't her fault. She was also very nice to my mother, which for sure counts for something. It took probably 15 minutes for our waitress to come by and ask for drink/food orders, which isn't great. I'd decided on the Blueberry Lemon Ricotta Pancakes from the Specials menu, only to be told by the waitress that they were no longer available. I then had to quickly pivot to the French Toast from the regular menu, but lack of availability is something that should have been mentioned when we received the menus, not while we're ordering. And it wasn't even noon - a little concerning. I don't know if it was just a bad day behind the scenes, but it took over 45 minutes to get two pretty simple brunch entrees to us, and almost as much time to get our beverages. That would at least be understandable if the place was packed and everyone was busy, but that wasn't the case - a lot of tables emptied up within 20 minutes of our arrival, and in a pretty troubling optic, most of the front-end waitstaff was literally just standing around by the coffee station not doing anything. That's bad management, and could have helped alleviate whatever was happening in the kitchen. You have five minutes to kill? Okay, stop by your tables and apologize for the delay. Help bus and turn over the recently vacated tables. Maybe refill my water glass, which was empty for most of my meal. There's just no excuse for that. And it's a shame because my Cardamon Rose Latte was excellent, and the French Toast was very good as well. French Toast isn't one of my go-to's, but when I have it I prefer it to be softer and not as cumbersome, and this fit the bill. But because the wait time and overall service was mediocre at best, I didn't even want to go near a dessert menu or consider having a second latte - that probably would have tacked on another hour. So by virtue of not being attentive and efficient, Common Grounds left money on the table. A real shame; and frankly, surprising to me given that this has to be a very notable day on the calendar for brunch places. I'd ensure everything was well-oiled and ready to go, and it's clear it just wasn't. I overheard quite a few people outside singing the praises of this place, and I saw enough to probably understand why. But we weren't the beneficiary of most of those qualities.
