My husband and I ate at this place 4 years ago and were really impressed with its food, service and ambiance that we had wanted to revisit it ever since. This morning on our way home we took a special detour to have breakfast here. I asked for the same veggie omelette, hoping to re-experience their unique and delicious creation, but alas! it was a total disappointment! The distinctively creative design was gone, and in its stead was just an average, run-of-the-mill omelette, all the while (to make things even worse) sans the spinach that was specified on the menu (which was generously offered 4 years ago). The homemade biscuit was still as warm, fluffy and tasty as before, so was the attentive and friendly service. Recently moved from the Bronx to Newburgh, and found this local gem hiding in my neighborhood. Glenn and the rest of the staff are courteous and friendly, and immediately make you feel at home. My daughter enjoys lounging while we wait. I've sampled many menu items, but the Blacc Vanilla breakfast sandwich remains my favorite. They roast their own coffee beans and the coffee was delicious. Cool little neighborhood shop with several locals stopping by. This place is family friendly and has a couple outside tables. Quiet, we had a great time celebrating a birthdayna Friday Morning. Their specialty drinks were full of flavor and the food was just as good, everyone in the group was raving about their drinks. The place has a great aesthetic vibe--awesome paintings from a local artist. The menu is great, too--I honestly wanted to try everything. Awesome cafe with a really cool vibe! Was passing though and stopped for a cappuccino and was tempted by an amazing donut selection. We had a Boston cream that was truly delicious. The cappuccino was huge and served in a glass mug - it was kind of cool being able to see all the layers. Their service was so friendly and welcoming! Loved the funky decor with lots of artwork - music was the theme and they have a tiny stage in front for open mic nights and concerts. They even have a chess board!! I tried the shrimp and grits and I think my only complaint was there were too much grits for the amount of shrimp and sauce, so the ratio was off for me. As I'm getting familiar with my neighborhood I'm constantly on Yelp finding new trendy chill spots for my husband and I to lounge in. I came arcoss this place, and instantly it reminds of grand street in Brooklyn, it's a few minutes aways from domino park or even L.E.S downtown Manhattan. Today I just came in for a latte and a muffin. I then was greeted immediately with a very friendly attitude, and then they quickly took our order. We informed them that we were new to the neighborhood and they warmly welcomed us. As we sat down everyone's was super friendly. I was taken back coming from the bronx were people are so rude but I have to say, I love kind people and friendliness is a must for me ( to no surprise) I'm excited about this town on how they show such attitude. As a lady was leaving she told us to enjoy our coffee and spoke very well about the owner of blac vanilla. She said how she (the owner) is very involved with the community and one day came by her work place and offered the entire place coffee. (If I remember the story correctly) By hearing this I knew this was a place I would want to spend my money. 5minutes later our lattes came, and I was smiling because I love cuteness and everything cute and the coffee had a writing on it, I think in chocolate syrup that said "peace" and "love" (I believe the other one said). Also our blueberry muffin was toasted to perfection and in it was smeared some black bean butter if I'm correct and it was deeeeeelicious!!!! From the moment I walked in, I felt a sense of community. The staff was familiar with many of the customers and that says something about a business. I came in to get some pages done on a script I am pitching. But my visit turned into an amazing conversation with two regulars and his teenage son. We talked as if we were childhood friends the owner also joined in on our conversation. As an entrepreneur of color I intentionally seek out black-owned business to support. Being an entrepreneur since my teens I know what it means to have the support of your own community. The decor is a cozy chic full of charm and coolness. The prices are affordable and won't break your pockets if you are brunching with a group. I had the waffles. Another thing.that inspired me about my visit here. Was a mixed crowd of races genders and ages. The space is suitable for all and the vibe there is everyone is welcomed.
