I've been taken by Dr Wong. Even thought she knew I was not a candidate for implants. She insisted and persuaded me Into thinking I was getting beautiful implants. Terrible experience and will never refer anyone to her. I've been taken for over 20 thousand plus the 7 thousand I had to pay another dentist to remove her bad implants. Confirmed by two other dentist, I was not a candidate. The implants would eventually fall out again. Sad I've been taken. Too bad I could not get any lawyers to take my case. Lesson learned. I just moved to the area and desperately needed dental care as I had not been to the dentist for several years(bad, I know). The office staff was so accommodating, patient and knowledgeable and got me in for an appointment. The hygienists were very informative and supportive. Dr. Ma is an expert in her field and got me all figured out. I really felt that she customized my treatment plan and did everything necessary in a stepwise fashion. The dental care I received was very good but the billing was a nightmare. I was told my procedure would have about 50% coverage so I went ahead with the work and then I was informed it was not covered by my dental plan at all. The biller told me I had to pay out of pocket BEFORE they would finish the work we had started. When I called my dental plan they confirmed my procedure was not covered and added that I had unfortunately chosen a provider that charges almost twice as much as other network clinics. If you use this dental service, make sure you check with your dental insurance plan first. read more

I don't even know where to begin. Maybe with the first visit. The dentist was looking at my teeth and the office manager came into the room to scream at the dentist over some paperwork. I was having a tooth extracted and the dentist left the room to talk to the manager who quit that day. I Shld have know the place was not worth going back to as I have never seen that behavior in any office ever. The service is terrible and the dentist and staff are not trustworthy. They set me up with a dental plan and each time I went the prices changed and after each service, cavity etc. more was added to my dental plan. My plan seemed to be never ended and it became obvious the doctor wants to continuous add more services to make as much money off of you as she can. She doesn't care about your health, it's all about making money. I was convinced to get a deep cleaning which cost about $500 and then afterwards I was told I had to come in every 3 months for a regular cleaning. My insurance only paid for 2 cleanings a year so I declined. They hygienist keep harassing me about the additional cleanings to the point I didn't want to go to the same hygienist any longer. I went through the process of getting an implant and regret it. The tooth has always had problems and in my opinion wasn't made big enough. It was the second attempt at making the tooth and I accepted it only because I said I'd give it a try and got too consumed with work to go back and I coding deal with the dentist any longer. But for $4500 it Shld be perfect. My insurance gave me a $50 credit that I overplayed and they sent it to their office. I called to have the credit sent to me in a check. They insisted I owed them more money for the implant, even though the implant had been finished for months. However, they said I owed $15 for an X-ray. I got into a screaming match with the office manager and she never sent me the correct amount, she kept $15 of the $50. Corrupt to the core. The staff and the doctor will do anything to charge you more $$$. Do not even think about going to this office. The dental work is terrible and probably more than half is unnecessary. I went here to see about getting dental implants, and got such a hard sell that I left and didn't go back. As soon as the dentist was done looking at my teeth, they pulled me into a tiny office and tried to get me to pay $9000 up front. It was so uncomfortable having to tell them that not only did I not have that kind of money to just hand over right then, I wasn't going to pay for anything before the work was done. Ended up paying something like $250 out of pocket for that initial visit and x-rays, and left there being willing to lose that money just to get away. I found another oral surgeon who did the work for $5k, and he was able to save one of my teeth so I didn't need an implant. I honestly felt like Beacon Dental would have tackled me and stolen my wallet if they could have. read more

Absolutely nasty experience starting from 2020. I went in with a tooth infection. Was told they took my insurance. Ended up starting to get the work done for them to come in and say that they did not and I had to pay $1000 out of pocket. I was pretty much strong armed into it because I was already on the chair with the lady starting work. Left in severe pain, not offered pain medicine or anything. I ended up calling to see why and they said they did not offer pain medicine. I was sore for days. Flash forward a few years later and I get a text this week saying I have an appointment, 4 years later! I call to cancel and they "cancel" it they cancel. Now today I get another text I have an appointment and if I don't cancel it's a $25 feel. The lady on the phone refused to give me her name or cancel my appointment and hung up on me. I started as a patient with Beacon Dental in 2024 with high hopes to find a good local dentist. I was so wrong. After a cleaning and x-rays Beacon Dental immediately recommended the most expensive and painful procedure: extraction of a molar. At the time, I was not even in pain and the tooth they wanted to extract was viable and not loose. I was not offered an antibiotic or any other procedure to save the tooth. Because I was brought up to trust dentists I agreed to the procedure and went through a 2 hour ordeal. During the procedure they knocked off the cap of the neighboring tooth and only replaced half of it. A new cap will cost me $500. Before the extraction I was told the extraction would cost a certain amount which I paid up front. During the procedure when I was numbed up and couldn't speak the dentist said she was doing an extra regeneration procedure which would speed up the healing process. She did not ask my permission, nor inform me of a $380 extra cost. At a follow up visit I was told that all was well and I needed to pay a deposit for my upcoming root canal on the tooth which the dentist knocked the crown off of... A few weeks later I went in for the recommended root canal and was informed by the office manager that I had a meeting with her instead. She said she took my root canal deposit money to pay for the regeneration procedure and that I still owed more money. People, stay away from Beacon Dental. They are not up front and honest about their cost. When asked to provide an apology for miscommunication they all just stared at me and silently refused. It was weird and scary. I called to make an appointment last week and specifically asked them TWICE if they took my insurance. I showed up to the appointment today and they told me they didn't participate with my insurance and I'd have to pay out of pocket. As of 4/26/2024, this business is not accepting new patients. I called 20 times to get through to them. The business is assigned to me under my DHMO and so I had no choice but to call repeatedly to get through to them. It will be until June before my new primary care dentist will be assigned by my insurance. I would echo the lack of professionalism indicated by the other reviews. My jaw ached for days after they filled a cavity because the dentist leaned on my face and refused to stop even though I begged him to. They tried signing me up for a veneers appointment even though my teeth are completely straight and healthy. They told me I had four cavities, but when I got a second opinion, they said I definitely only had two. They force their staff to write good reviews whenever they get a bad one on Google. this place is terrible I was taken out of there in a ambulance. they wrote a letter signed by dr wang. on what was my problem. then 2 days later denied that they had a paperwork for me. for the oral surgeon. called office for another 2 days. and now they push me to another assistant who knew nothing about it and the one who I was dealing with. would not even get back on the phone with me even after I asked for her numerous times. now 4 days later still in terrible pain and have to start all over because this office is playing gaMes. told me they didn't know which tooth it was when. oh yea. they took 14 exrays of my mouth my next call willl be to my insurance company. to give them a heads up. I wanted to write a good review because I wanted to support women owned business. Dr. Wang is the owner and dentist, as well as she is a business woman. However, I started to puzzle about their practice recently. I had my chipped tooth worked on by having a root canal and permanent crown in Feb. '23. . Even though I had a chipped tooth, it was not giving me any pain, swelling or infection. Since Dr. Wang was the only dentist (she was the third opinion) who told me it can be saved instead of getting extraction for implants, I had her do root canal and put a new crown. The tooth was feeling okay for a couple of weeks, then I could not chew on the tooth which was worked on. Because I was out of state for three months, I went back to the office as soon as I returned in June, and found out the height for the new crown was not properly adjusted. Dr. Wang grinded down and it was once again okay. Then I noticed that I have an abscess on my gum above the crown within two weeks. I went back to the office and was told I need a tooth extraction and get implants in with a new crown due to an infection. I have asked for an estimate, but the receptionist kept arguing with me to come in so that Dr. can make a treatment plan. I repeatedly told her that Dr. Wang told me that I need an implant. I demanded her to find out from the Dr. then call me back. She has not fulfilled my request after a week. I am upset because I only had this new crown for a few months. Now I need another crown and a tooth extraction? I wish I had listened to the other two dentists from the beginning. read more

My 82 year old mother went for dentures October 2021 and they were not ready until May of 22. She patiently waited through many visits usually waiting 1/2 an hour to an hour each time before she was seen. The dentist blamed the lab, claimed they were lost in the mail once, etc. In the end they are ill fitting and painful after spending thousands of dollars and almost a year. We are all sad for her as she can't even wear them with dental adhesive without fear of them coming out it is a tragedy that now she can only eat mecanically ground food and we have to have her dentures redone . read more

"Not good" is too generous! THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL SCAM! I came here after living in NYC for 20 years and never had any major dental problems according to my dentist (not a single cavity nothing). Suddenly, at Beacon dental, I am faced with the possibility that my teeth will fall out and that I need drastic periodontal surgery (around 5 thousand dollars, yes!) so that they could properly clean my teeth going forward!! Dr. Wang is clearly only interested in logging as many billable codes as possible. She is also dishonest. On my first visit, she lied to me and said that NYS law requires that dentists must X-ray their patients. I told her this was incorrect and that patients always have the right to deny X-rays, but she refused service and since I really wanted a cleaning, I reluctantly agreed. This was the first red flag for me that made me realize that this was simply an establishment only interested in maxing out insurance, and scaring patients into thinking that their dental situation is far worse than it probably is; certainly no emphasis on health (and the fact that they advertise fluoride treatment, a known endocrine disruptor and neurotoxin, only further confirms this). The only positive experience I had was with the hygienist (who was excellent) but beyond a basic cleaning, be warned! Don't be fooled by the numerous modern rooms with their shiny new equipment as this place is ALL about the money. Even when I confronted them and told them I was not returning, they still continued to call me trying to lure me back. What a mistake and I regret giving them a single penny! I was charged for services not rendered. When questioned I was told I authorized charges for future services which I did not. I have sutures hanging from the top of my mouth. I am experiencing pain, discomfort and swelling over a week later. When I asked for an explanation of charges for the work I need to have it was explained in a way that seemed deliberately confusing. After making a post to the local website thru Facebook inquiring about Beacon Dental I received numerous responses. These are just 10 of the dozen responses. 1. I did not have a favorable experience. I am currently in the process of having a crown redone that never was right from them. I'm now having to pay out of pocket. They also wouldn't stop harassing me for services, calls, texts, emails despite my asking them to stop. They seemed Covid safe in terms of hygiene. Overall, I just didn't trust them beyond a cleaning. 2. Terrible experiences from both myself and my husband. The dentist started drilling immediately after giving me the novocaine. Obviously I wasnt numb at all. He wouldnt stop when I signaled him. They always tried to change my evening appts to the day. One day, they literally called me and told me they changed it without asking me 3. Dont go there!!! Horrible I don't know how they are still open. I reported them to insurance and board. 4. This review is not a reflection on the staff, who are simply doing their jobs to the best of their abilities, but more on their general office policy and management. After two years of going to Beacon Dental for care, I finally decided to find a new dentist today after someone in their office made an appointment for me that I was not aware of and never agreed to. I had an appointment for a cleaning scheduled for later this week, but received a text this morning saying that I needed to be there in two hours! Absolutely ridiculous. This review is long overdue. I've never been stressed about going to see any type of medical professional, but I get very anxious when I know an appointment with Beacon Dental is coming up. You literally have to fight them off to avoid unnecessary services and no doesn't mean no to them...you literally have to sit and argue with someone to avoid unwanted services. Not the way that most medical professionals operate AT ALL. This has not been a positive experience over the years, to say the least and it now feels combative. I 100% agree with other folks posting below that there is a policy of high pressure for the staff to recommend treatments and dental work that are not necessary. For a simple dental cleaning, you will receive a postcard, emails, calls, plus numerous texts, which would be extremely helpful if there weren't so many reminder notifications that you feel as though you are being stalked. Also, if you do agree to any type of dental work, they require a deposit...which I find utterly strange and bizarre. I've never had any type of deposit required for medical work and my bills with them have always been paid in full before leaving their office post-procedure. Why trust them if they don't trust you? As a local business that employs a healthy amount of female staff, I really wanted to support them. I do hope that management reads some of these reviews and takes action to improve their practice and policies. I was a former patient. She placed a crow on tooth #5. That tooth had 2 root canals a d sn epigoecotomy which is where the entire root is removed leaving the tooth very weak. All of which I explained to her. She crowns the tooth that needed an implant! Tooth continued to bleed and then I went to another causing discomfort. I go to another QUALIFIED dentist and he explained that the tooth structure was too weak to be crowned! Have repeatedly requested a full refund and she continues to debate this! Had she have given my case to a qualified oral surgeon to place the gosh darn implant I wouldn't be posting this. Then she has an attorney send me threaten letter? REALLY! I went to Beacon dental few years ago, and basically got told all the work that needed to be done on my teeth, which according to other dentist in the area I went right after told me was unecessary, I think the reason so they could maxed out my insurance. However I was not happy with their services and quality, infact they still have my crown which I never had installed as I went somewhere else to do it, and obviously still got charged for it. I went to beacon dental last year for a routine check up and was told I needed a gingivectomy on my bottom teeth and numerous root canals. I also had a deep cleaning instead of a regular cleaning. I had to paid a deposit for the next appointment before being allowed to even schedule and it was close to $200 upfront. I went for a second opinion and turns out I needed none of the things they wanted to do! I simply needed a few fillings. Beacon dental quoted me a couple thousand dollars even with insurance for all of the unnecessary work they wanted to do. After my second opinion my total for all the fillings needed was just over $300! I still haven't been reimbursed my deposit. read more

I been going to them for years. I must say when they work on you, it's professionally done. Very competent. However, they are always trying to sell you something or do work that may not be necessary. Very hard sell. Even insisting on giving me a fluoride treatment even though my drinking supply is fluoridated. Every internet site referenced states this is entirely unnecessary. The BEST! I promise! Out of all places I've been to throughout the years, they've been the most thorough! I've been a regular going on 3 years now. Issues were found and treated at Beacon Dental, that were preexisting and never were either discovered or mentioned at any other dental exam and visit in the past. The same experience when I recommended my boyfriend. He went to another nearby dental office, and stated that they were rude, aggressive with their cleaning, but felt as if something was still wrong. After his first visit with Beacon Dental, they found all the issues, and were dead on! Similar story with one of my best friends. They too are now loyal regulars. I've recommended a little more than a handful, needless to say, they're all as well returning and loyal regulars now. They have all up-to-date technology. They're staff, ESPECIALLY Dr. Wang, are super friendly! Their facility, bathroom, and stations are spotless! Samsung tv's (did I mention that they're up-to-date?) in every room, makes for a great distraction. Appointment reminders are via phone call and text messaging (if you opt for this), appointment card given to you, AND another postcard like appointment card is mailed to your mailing address. There's no way for you to forget! Lol They're great with sitting down with you and discussing all options for any payment plans, if your dental insurance doesn't cover certain things. They've been great with advising me of any changes made by my dental insurance that might affect how less or often I may visit, or how it'll affect costs, if any, for certain procedures. I always ask and make sure if my dental insurance covers any procedures, if not, what's the cost, before proceeding. SPEAK UP!!! I love the little gifts that are given most of the time (ideal for me to take to and use at work), a small floss, small toothpaste, toothbrush, and a chapstick set in a clear case. Sometimes a small Listerine bottle as well. Dr. Wang...she's a sweetheart, and she is very knowledgeable in her profession, as well as her assistants. Only in it for the money. When you get in you sit for at-least an hour, then you sit another half hour to an hour in the chair, waiting. Then someone will come in and look through a list of things to up-sell you on. Every appointment I've had they have called to reschedule at least once, including 3 in a row the same week. I had the absolute worst experience at Beacon Dental: AVOID THIS PLACE. I am really upset with the way my mother and I were treated at the office. It is truly unacceptable. We scheduled an appointment a week in advance and, on the day of the appointment, as soon as my mother and I walked in, we were greeted by a guy who was absolutely clueless. Another receptionist came by and signed us in. We waited for AN HOUR AND A HALF before we saw the doctor. All this time I checked in with the receptionist (at 30, 45, and 55 minute marks) asking whether I need to reschedule an appointment or not. We flagged that our babysitter was leaving and that we needed to be seen by a doctor urgently. After an hour and a half, after we finally saw the doctor Wang, she was very careless and spent close to 10 minutes with us. I am in absolute shock how a medical professional can be so careless and unwelcoming to patients. Needless to say, I am now a former patient of the clinic and will no longer return there. A wonderful clean dental office with beautiful plants! A caring professional staff, from the reception to billing, to dental hygienist! The Dr. was very gentile while working on my root canal. Absolutely no pain during my root canal. I had slight discomfort afterwards & only required a tylenol although other options were available to me. I am in need of cavity fillings & a good gum cleaning soon. And as crazy as it sounds, I am looking forward to going back. I like smiling & think my teeth look pretty.
