He reviewed the report from my endodontist that performed the root canal due to an infection in this tooth and Dr. Z said it sure was a bad infection! This crown was recently put in by another dental practice and was left untreated for months after it was sensitive to hot & cold temperatures. "Batman" said I had too much going on with my teeth and that he would not treat me. My lower jaw and gums have been hurting for a while due to impacted wisdom teeth that 2 oral surgeons are afraid to extract and other specialists misdiagnosed me with TMJ. Due to the fact that I have problems , he stated that my case is too complicated and he referred me to a specialist, which is defined as the branch of dentistry that deals with the restoration and maintenance of oral function by the replacement of missing teeth and other oral structures by artificial devices. Note that I do not have any missing teeth and that Dr. Joel Zaritski didn't even take the time to look at my in my mouth and at my teeth. I even asked, "you mean you wouldn't even do a filling out some cosmetic bonding?" NO he answered, nothing as he stood as far away from me as he could with his arms crossed! Make sure your dental work doesn't take much work or intelligence as this practice doesn't seem to want to work, think or do business with someone who needed a bit of compassion! A few weeks ago I visited a dentist and was told I needed a number of things done - 11 cavities, 1 crown, a night guard (even though I told this dentist that I didn't grind my teeth, nor did I preference one side while chewing), as well as a deep gum cleaning. The total charge out of pocket was going to be 4k after my insurance. I decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Gasperini. Dr. Gasperini was so kind and gentle and explained everything that he was going to do before doing it. I never had any of those awkward moments where my mouth was left open needlessly. Very aware of the comfort level of his patients. In the end, Dr. Gasperini told me I needed only one filling! Only one filling! I trust this doctor completely, and have found my new dentist. So i had to call in and complain and they had to call the poughkeepsie office and call me back. They ended up taking away the charge but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Seems like a scam to try and get people to buy more dental exams and to charge them more than they were told. I was overcharged, and my insurance was submitted claims for procedures that were never performed, which raises serious ethical and billing concerns. After a crown was placed in March 2025, my regular dentist later found excess cement left directly on my gum line--a basic and preventable error. My dentist was extremely disturbed by this and stated it could have caused damage to my gums. Leaving cement behind reflects a clear lack of attention to standard dental care and patient safety. To make matters worse, the crown fell off while I was eating (and unfortunately swallowed) yet I was told I would need to pay out of pocket for a completely new crown, despite the original being placed only months earlier. Refusing to stand behind recent work while shifting the financial burden onto the patient is unprofessional and unacceptable. Between the billing irregularities, substandard workmanship, and lack of accountability, I strongly advise others to avoid this office altogether. If you do choose to go here, verify every charge, closely monitor what is submitted to your insurance, and be prepared to seek corrective care elsewhere.
