After 3 years apparently you're discarded and considered a new patient, and every PCP office I called within the Lees Summit and surrounding areas either aren't accepting new patients or they're not scheduling new patient appointments for a minimum of 5-8 months, leaving me without help after severely injuring my back, I was in so much pain, and I needed immediate care, so I made a same day appointment (on a Sunday) at NextCare Urgent Care is Lees Summit (off of McBaine Drive), and they exceeded my expectations in every way. First, you can make an appointment online, and they honor those appointments (no matter how many walk-ins are there before you.) In addition I have received exceptional care. I've been twice in the last 2 weeks, and have had to call in multiple times. They are always quick to respond and incredibly helpful. From the front desk (who is also the R.T./x-ray tech), to the nurse who was so kind, caring and helpful, to the Dr/FNP Thomas Sims, I have received excellent care. I cannot say enough great things about them. If you need immediate care (that doesn't require going to the ER) I encourage you to make an appointment with NextCare Urgent Care in Lee's Summit. You will not be disappointed.

Aiden and Tiffany, serving in the ER, are outstanding examples of what you can expect in the ER and elsewhere throughout the hospital. Nurses Enrique, Michelle and Makayla Top Notch caregivers on the 4th Floor N Unit. The professional technicians: Richard and Arlene [portable X-Ray team] Mary in the CT Scan area, Austin who conducted my small bowel follow through and WENDY Ultra Sound operator extraordinaire !!! from the Imaging Department cannot be surpassed. One of the housekeeping crew is so sweet! Milinda was super - - dedicated to her work and engaging with those hospitalized. On another note - - the hospital food is VERY good! Kudos to the kitchen crew and Bernadette who delivered my meals. I was particularly impressed with the treatment rendered by Dr. Mattias D'Anna. Dr. Mattias D'Anna is a hospitalist at CenterPoint Medical Center. He has called on me on two of my separate hospitalizations. He's kind, knowledgeable and a wonderful communicator. He has a gift for using layman's terms to explain medical conditions, their impact on my wellness and how best to move forward. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Sat in the ER for hours with no updates while the nurses talked bad about each other (gossiping)…read more Had to hit the call button to get any answers. Was given unnecessary tests. Was then put in a holding area for patients they wanted to admit. Sat in a small empty room with a curtain for hours and 0 care. Had a doctor finally come talk to me with a "guess" on what the diagnosis could be. Hours more go by, again have to use the call button to get any answers. Suddenly I'm being moved upstairs and a surgeon will come and talk to me?! Get upstairs finally get some treatment. The RN didn't even understand what the doctor was doing. The surgeon seemed annoyed he was called because I was fine. Stayed over night wanted to leave the next day. Suddenly I'm to low on potassium. I'm like cool I'll do that then leave. "Oh no we don't plan to do any more labs today." Excuse me? And then suddenly I'm low on magnesium and have to get treatment for that too? Like I felt better and I wanted to go home and they were constantly trying to unnecessarily keep me. They could send me home with a prescription. Misdiagnosed, no communication, unnecessary tests. This hospital was a joke. I had to threaten an ama just to get out of there. Find somewhere else!

I know of no other skin and vein clinic to compare to, but what I do know is that in the past few months I have seen results with those unsightly spiders that have been stuck on my legs for a while. The staff is friendly and also very knowledgeable. If someone doesn't know they answer they will go out of their way to get it. The doctors, both Fearon and Baker are both nice and personable. I was also impressed that they closed their clinic on Monday due to potential bad weather and road conditions, expressing great concern over the safety of their staff and patients. What more can I say? If you need any vein treatment I highly recommend them. I am aware that they also provide laser treatment procedures for hair, skin lesions and other cosmetic issues, which I am sure they are good for.

The ER department from Receptionist to Triage to SOME Nurses, are sub-par. When I finally did get to the ER portion, after basically forcing it, I was treated rudely and rough by the Nurse. The Dr. did do some tests and such but when my blood Ox obviously went to 80% the wrong assessment was, no worries, you're ok. No I wasn't, my airway was so blocked I could not get a full breath to feel safe. No help. Horrible assessments and horrible nurse. The intake was more concerned with her conversations with co-workers. The triage clearly wanted to get to her clock out time and didn't push me through for help.

I arrived at 12:10 a.m. and was not taken to a room until 3:30 a.m. I understand ERs triage by acuity, so the wait alone is not my primary complaint. My concern is what happened once I was roomed. The treatment room was visibly dirty--full trash and dirty-linen receptacles, debris/hair on the floor, and a dirty pillow underneath the bed. I reported it to the nurse and was told it would be addressed. I also took photos documenting the conditions. Dr. Cox was the bright spot of the experience. He was caring, compassionate, and took my concerns seriously. Unfortunately, after he ordered my workup, there were significant delays. Radiology came twice to perform my CT but couldn't proceed because the required IV had not been placed. Despite multiple calls for assistance, my IV wasn't established until more than an hour after Dr. Cox evaluated me. After the shift change, my experience with Dr. Burley was completely different. I found his bedside manner dismissive, accusatory, and lacking compassion. I felt rushed out rather than treated like a patient whose concerns mattered. Between the dirty room, poor responsiveness, delays in ordered care, and dismissive discharge experience, I was extremely disappointed. I appreciate Dr. Cox's professionalism, but based on my overall experience, I would not return to Saint Luke's East for emergency care.

A few days before my appointment I receive a message on my app that my appointment is cancelled. I call to discover that it was cancelled because whomever set up the appointment did not note that this was to establish care with this provider. With all of that they cant even get me in to "establish care" until sometime next year. Just a bit of advice for anyone wanting to use their services and how they treat a loyal patient that has been seeing them for over 25 years.

We have moved closer to the Lee's Summit office, and I wanted to change to that office. She told me that it didn't matter. It's unfortunate that the first person you encounter is rude, and has no intention of assisting you. I spoke with the independence office, and was assured this is not St Luke's policy.

I check in and the lady wouldn't even look at me, said name, dob, sit down over there. then I didn't have insurance so the bleach blonde director came out and was all uppity with me and said I would have to pay $1000 first before any X-rays would be done. she wouldn't let me pay later that afternoon, I'm like well I don't have it on me and she said well you won't be able to get your test done. so I called diagnostic imaging and they were just awesome! I went the next day and only paid $90.75 f both of xrays. very courteous and nice. I won't be going back to Lee summ medical for anything again!!
