Definitely ask for a quote before you have them make any jewelry. Their prices can be vague and remember that each little thing costs money, which can add up. And that's before adding in the cost for their time to put it together. Mainly I'm giving this place 3 stars because they weren't very kind and didn't communicate well with my sister who I sent there while visiting LA today. She was excited to get some necklaces made (I had made one there for her in the past). She was wearing it and explained that it was a gift and came from their shop. The lady at the counter just looked at her blankly and half smiled. But whatever, people are absorbed in themselves sometimes... So she had 2 necklaces made and during the process no one communicated the costs of things. At the end she was surprised by the cost and the lady started going through the itemized list and as she was doing so she started realizing that she had left some things, many things actually, off the list. So she started adding more to the total! Instead of saying, oh actually I'm charging you less than I should have, she just added more on to the total that already seemed too high. Good customer service would have been to give her some sort of discount since that mistake would have never been found had she not asked to see the prices of things. I was disappointed to hear this since I had recommended them. I probably won't be doing that to any of my visitors in the future. In the past the customer service was really great but it sounds like they have a few people in there now that aren't great communicators. read more

In addition to an amazing assortment of beads, thread, wire and "hardware", the staff are extremely helpful, knowledgeable and patient. I wanted to repair necklaces and a bracelet and the staff member was very thoughtful, listened to what I needed, carefully examined the jewelry and made several suggestions and implemented them. I went in yesterday afternoon just to purchase some of the hand dipped incense, and I was patiently waiting as two customers were being helped by two employees. I was waiting for a while, and I received no acknowledgement as I waited. I gave them a few more minutes to finish with the other customers, and I ended up just putting the incense down at the table by the register because the wait was ridiculous and both employees didn't bother to say they'll be just a minute or anything. They didn't even look at me. So, in short, I'll never return to this place again. I'll stick to ordering from Amazon. To the store manager, I highly suggest you talk to your employees about better customer service. read more

What a great place! The shop is tucked away behind Tender Greens and Burger Lounge, but still fairly easy to find. The shop itself is large with a couple long tables to make your creations. Keep in mind there is a $3 fee tacked on for sitting at these tables. The walls are lined strands of beads and there are several tables filled with bead boxes. all of the bead cubbies are marked with a price and a code, which you will have to write down and keep track of. They have a huge selection of beads which makes it really fun.The staff was helpful and answered all my questions. Definitely coming back with friends! read more

Stumbled upon this somewhat hidden bead store after a lunch at Tender Greens over the weekend. The store is right behind the restaurant in a little courtyard with a few other shops and what I think is a yoga studio. It's very large and has tables and tables of beads, but for some reason I didn't find a lot that I fell in love with. The prices are higher than Moxie Beads for the same items and fixings, although they do have a better and larger selection of chains, silk wraps, and cords. A lot of the beads here are on the more ethnic and whimsical side, with less of the higher quality druzy, chalcedony, or more delicate options. Definitely worth checking out however, will be back for some specific fixings that Moxie does not carry. read more

This hidden gem (pun intended) is in the heart of Santa Monica. Its away from the intense touristy traffic but easily accessible near the 3rd St Promenade. Ermie was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I had a large rush order I needed placed and had so many limitations due to a budget. She was efficient and truly exceeded my expectations when it came to customer service. There are not many bead shops on the west side (even went downtown) and nothing came close to Beadahs service, prices and selection. This is a wonderfully run bead shop with some of the nicest people working there. If you are like me, you often end up with jewelry pieces with broken clasps, too long chains, or a missing bead. I have utilized their talents twice now to repair and alter my existing jewelry, each time they have been creative, quick, and reasonably priced, no matter if it was a sentimental piece of fashion bling or sterling silver. read more

What a treasure, I was visiting from out of town. Looked up Beadahs on yelp. This bead store is nicely merchandised and has lots of selection to choose from and nice staff. I like the zen feeling in the store. I like that I can find items to make into a jewelry. While I was there, they helped me finish a necklace for $3, plus cost of bead supplies! Now I have a cool souvenir that I made. They offer a lot of classes that are interesting. I'm definitely going back to visit again when I'm in the area. read more

I love Beadahs. I visit Santa Monica for a month each year and always stop in. This year I took a wire wrapping class, learned a lot, and felt encouraged and supported. This is a cute store with a lot to choose from, its layout is well set up and very organized. We spent an hour there and could have easily stayed longer. Oh dear, I really didn't want to make jewelry...I came to this shop first in January, bringing a visiting relative..who practically bought a suitcase of beads. (I ought a beading magazine). I have been at Beadahs several times (perhaps 5 or 6 times) and each time I swear to myself I will never go there again. Because I live on the west side there have been times I've been in a pinch for a certain item -- tool, crimp bead, etc. -- and because of the proximity I have had to go there. Why do I give this a 1 star rating. OK here's why. They overprice their items way over the prices for the same items at other bead stores (like Silver Sky in the Valley for example or Kings Road near the Beverly Center). For example the Sof-flex beading wire medium weight that is usually about $14 - $15, I was charged $19 for. Another reason is it seems like the people who work there are primarily high school students who do not know neither how to deal with customers nor much about the place they are working. Furthermore each time I went there I was made to feel like I was a criminal of some sort they way that they followed me around hovering in a very overt way. My advice is to bite the bullet and go elsewhere even if it is not convenient. read more

I came here with my mom since she wanted us to have a beading lesson for her birthday and I left with a pretty beautiful handmade necklace by yours truly (yes, pretty lovely if I do say so myself!). We had a great time and I'm really glad we decided to go with a private lesson since I had never done anything like this before and we both really needed the extra attention. The store itself is lovely and just the kind of place you want to spend a few hours sitting and designing jewelry. Their beads are also gorgeous and clearly high quality. The prices for the classes are really reasonable and you can even sit there and do a project of your own without a class for a small fee and the staff will give you expert tips. Do make a reservation for your class ahead of time, though-- especially on the weekends since it does get busy at times. Convenient parking at a parking structure next door, too. read more

I went in here today to create a dozen plus necklaces. I was excited to have creative session that would end with a bunch of presents to give my friends and employees. It was something fun i was looking forward to for a couple of weeks, not a chore. But things changed quickly while there. As i was collecting beads i might use for the necklaces, the woman working there told me i needed to create a written record of every single bead i intended to try. I let her know i might try over a hundred but only end up using a couple dozen or so that work best. Writing down every single bead i wanted to try would be completely tedious and rob the experience of the creative spontaneity i was looking forward to experiencing in the first place! I might as well be at work! She remained insistent that things MUST be done that way so i decided it wasn't worth the trouble, collected my pendants and said goodbye. Its worth noting there were zero other customers in the store the whole time i was there so its hard to believe they have a lot of better things to do or can afford to drive potential customers away. I was prepared to drop a couple of hundred bucks to create a collection of beautiful necklaces and have a positive, creative experience doing so. But my beading project and I were obviously unwelcome there. What a disappointment. Based on my negative experience, I'd recommend taking your business and your creative energies elsewhere!!! read more

A group and I, spur of the moment, wanted to go to Beadahs to spend a couple hours and make some jewelry. We called ahead and asked a clerk if they could accommodate 8 people, and they stated there was a birthday scheduled, but that they would accommodate us, just not give us the attention we would possibly want. We were fine with that, thus headed over. Upon arrival, we were instructed on what to do and collected our beads. We were not informed, however, that wire length and clasps were extra, even after we repeated to them multiple times we were each on a $20 budget. When we finally settled to start on our jewelry and the owner came along. Everything was fine until the owner came and insisted on hassling us for showing up in a group over 3 without a reservation. Literally, she explained to us more than 4 times how she would not accommodate us the next time. I think that this place is very fun and enjoyable, ONLY IF THE OWNER WOULD CALM TF DOWN. We were there to enjoy ourselves, we were being self-sufficient, no bother to the other EXTREMELY amazing, helpful, and friendly employees, out of the way of the birthday, and we had no problems creating our jewelry. The ONLY enormous problem we had was with the owner. You have lost eight customers, who would have enjoyed returning. Your beads are overpriced and cheap anyway. Get yourself some people skills, lady. You're the worst, and I wish someone else owned your store. P.S. Be nicer to your employees. read more
