I was looking for some loose buttons for a craft project and wanted a location that had a selection of individual loose buttons and this place had exactly what I was looking for, right as you walk in. The store itself had everything you could possibly be looking for, for a sewing project or anything related. Their selection of trims was incredible and they also had patches and other items, yarn as well. They also had many many rolls of different types of fabrics, and they also offer clothing modifications. The best part, in my opinion, was their shop dog, who was so incredibly friendly I spent more time petting him than I did browsing around the store. He was standing right outside of the store, so if you're wary of dogs , even though he's so friendly, it is good to note. The store is right on Lincoln Blvd and the parking situation might be difficult if the front areas of the store already have cars there. There is a small lot next to the store but it might be reserved for the restaurant next door. I parked in the residential area right next to the store, so I did not notice if the lot was specific to the restaurant only. The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. I am still shocked and shaking over what I witnessed at Planet Fabric this evening. The man working at the register, who may have been the owner, screamed at a woman and forced her to leave after overhearing her speaking about being Israeli with another person . His behavior was enraged, hostile, threatening.and very scary . The most horrifying part was when the woman asked him, "Are you kicking me out because I am Jewish and Israeli?" and he answered, "Yes, you are proving my point." That was not a misunderstanding. That was blatant antisemitism and discrimination. He was so aggressive that I genuinely feared he might physically attack her. I did not step in because the situation felt dangerous. What I witnessed was open antisemitic harassment against a Jewish Israeli woman. It was disgusting, frightening, and completely unacceptable. No one should ever be screamed at, humiliated, and thrown out of a business because they are of a certain race or religion. A couple minutes following this incident, the woman returned and politely asked to pick up her belongings which she left at the store probably due to her fear of being attacked . When the worker saw her - he became enraged and screamed at her to leave - refusing to give her - her staff. She said she will call the police and the man replied "i don't care - call whomever you want" She once again said she is calling the police and complaining about his business to the city and he finally gave her what she forgot when he kicked her out of the store . I am still shocked and shaking thinking about it, and I will never return. I decided to have drapes custom made since I couldn't find anything I liked in retail. Fabric Planet had a fabric that put me on the path to my ultimate choice. Although I ended up choosing a fabric at a different store, I went to Fabric Planet to have the drapes made. They helped me figure out how much fabric I would need (from the other store), and the other specs to ultimately give me what I wanted. And their pricing for the construction was significantly better than the other quotes I got. Already thinking of what else I could have made. read more

Honestly didn't really get to have much of an experience. I was immediately greeted but was watched the whole time. I was not even allowed to browse on my own which made it very uncomfortable. I wasn't sure what I was getting yet for my project but still wanted to explore some fabric possibilities. That did not feel like an option. The woman asked to know what i wanted and did not give me the feeling she wanted me to browse since she stuck glued to my hip the whole time. I've been shopping here for years to get quick yards of fabric. And always with no problems or hassle at all, however today. I went with my niece to buy some fusible, the staff greeted us but they had their eyes on us, i was looking at canvas and other things and they were always around the corner looking at us. Didn't feel welcomed at all. And every time I come here, I ask to get some scraps of fabric, and they allow me to take them. However, when I went today to buy some Fusible, they claimed that, they started to charge 1-5$ for scraps of fabric. The Mexican Lady got defensive about the scraps. Thinking this was a smaller Joann's, was I surprised! Huge bolts of fabric, a barrel of buttons, another of zippers in every color. Of course, they have a small selection of the usual snaps and a few buttons. But it was worth my ten minutes surfing through the huge sea of buttons to find five perfect matches for 25 cents each. I LOVE this place. It reminds me of those quaint family stores on the lower East Side of Manhattan a generation ago. And they discount for cash! read more

Fabric Planet is my new go to for a wide selection of fabrics. Not only are the fabrics neatly organized and labeled by sections, but the fabric content and price is also attached to each fabric roll. It's so easy to sort through this way! I was looking for a soft fleece fabric and found a lot of variety. The price range for most fabrics seems to be $10-12 per yard, and anything organic is about $16 per yard. Silks and linens are around $20 a yard. They don't have a minimum and you can ask them to cut a quarter yard too. They also sell sewing machines, Rit dyes, buttons and closures, bindings, pipings, ribbons, twill and flat cord tapes, lace, leathers.. they practically have everything The service is so good. The guys working there are super friendly and when I called for the store hours they were cheery and actually said "we look forward to seeing you!" And in the store, they were just as helpful. There's free parking next to the store. Can't beat this place! read more

Very helpful, friendly service from both gentlemen working last night, Saturday evening, at 6:30. I am not a real crafter or sewing maven, yet they did not make me feel like a dope because I didn't know what I wanted. Because the upholstery fabric is basically in two places, one darker and one lighter, I had a reasonable number of fabrics to choose from and I found a stunning one, only $15 / yard. I will be recovering a little stool / bench that I want to tie into a little desk. The desk is white and I don't want to paint the legs. My first and last time at this place! I spent $105 on three pair of pants at this place. Two of the pants are completely ruined. The first time I picked up the pants (it took 12 business days), they did not fit correctly. They told me to bring in a pair of jeans that fit perfect, so they could have a guide. I did that. The 2nd time I went in to pick up the pants are shown in the pictures. I called & let them know the pants still don't fit. They said the "guide" jeans I brought in were a completely different fit and didn't help. I said, "Well why didn't you call and tell me that? I could have brought different jeans for you." I asked multiple times if I could bring in the jeans to show them the poor alternations or send in pictures, so they could see. The guy said, "I don't see how that's going to help because we altered the jeans based on how you said you wanted them." I would never ask for my jeans to be altered in the way they are shown in the picture! They don't even fit! The seams don't line up. After some back and forth, he offered me a partial refund. I can't even take these jeans to another tailor because they are so tight due to so many alterations! I have to throw them away! The guy only offered me a FULL refund after I said I would post the pictures in a review! Then he tried to guilt trip me into not posting a review. Insane! Absolutely, terrible customer service.
