This place is awesome, I do my laundry, dry cleaning and in a pinch buy tp and stuff there. I buy my house plants there! I'm surprised by the negativity, but I guess some people just like unloading on someone in a service role. That's not for me. The family that runs it is really sweet, and even showed me how to fold a fitted sheet for the first time (I'm 34-ha!) Granted there isn't any coffee so the "bean" is enigmatic but the neighborhood has plenty of coffee spots that resemble Portland, OR, Austin, TX, or whatever- but Bean and Clean is an authentic Brooklyn establishment, so treat it accordingly and you'll be pleased. read more

This business seemed like they were staying open after the COVID shut down. They accepted my clothing for cleaning and gave me a ticket for a Thursday. The closed randomly on a Wednesday with all my clothes inside. They have not returned any of my calls. I hope nothing happened to them all but if they open back up, I would feel nervous to leave anything with them overnight. read more

We live nearby, so we gave this place more than a fair shot, but after inconsistent cleans (read: sometimes clean, sometimes not, sometimes smelly) and being yelled at by the workers on various occasions for such cardinal sins as using a laundry bag they didn't like, we finally reached a tipping point. My girlfriend's dress came back destroyed after a wash. I went back to talk with them and the owner raised her voice and tried to shout me down. I didn't respond in kind, but calmly told her they could replace the dress they had ruined (it wasn't expensive) or lose our business. She continued to yell at me as I walked out the door. They have a lot of machines and are generally not too busy. Thus far I've never had to wait. They also offer drop off laundry serivce for .75 per pound for 30lbs or less and .65 a pound for over 30lbs. They're closed on Wednesdays, which isn't all that great and otherwise close at 8:30pm, which is also inconvenient. A selection of laundry soaps, dryer sheets and other laundry stuff, cold drinks, snacks, Advil and a variety of other items are available for purchase. There are magazines to read while you wait for your wash, but they are not new, so best to bring a book. Also they are called Bean and Clean, but often there is no coffee, so mostly they are just Clean. Pretty decent place and the only place close to my house. My mega wishes are that they were opened 24hrs and offered more environmentally friendly products. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!!! The only way this place has More than 1 star is for those who have had lucky experiences. I have given this business many chances and I've finally gotten to the point where I can no longer support this business. To start, there is mold inside the majority of the detergent compartments on the washing machines. They have closed earlier than their hours of operation many times on Tuesdays, leaving my wet or dry clothes just sitting inside of the building until Thursday mornings until they re-open. Their dryers/washers are always constantly breaking or stealing your quarters and the women who work their are extremely rude. The last straw was this weekend. I have a small full sized bed and I have two thin comforters I bring there to be washed with my laundry. Whenever I do, they cost 10 dollars a piece to be washed. So this weekend I brought some sheets/pillow cases to drop off as well as the blankets so of course as usual the price should be $10 a blanket. This woman when told me the cost was 22 dollars. She gave my boyfriend our tickets and I didn't think twice to examine every detail she wrote?? It just went in his pocket and we went about our day. I go to pick up the two blankets the next day she refused to give me my two blankets unless I paid her 44 dollars. 44 dollars?!?!! For two small comforters?!? The comoforters themselves were only 19 dollars a piece brand new on amazon. When I asked her why this price has doubled it's because "blankets are only 10 dollars when you add them onto other loads" so wait....I just handed you a bag of sheets. Im not washing just the blankets. I AM ADDING THEM TO SOMETHING ELSE? Needless to say I was scammed. This place sucks and it always has sucked. It was just conveniently located by my apartment. The drop off service is nice and is always ready next day, plus the service is cheaper than the other laundromats nearby. I've never had a problem and clothes are always nicely folded. My clothes are usually ready same day or at the latest next day (the drop off service is priced extremely reasonable). One time, the woman working thought she had caused a stain that was actually pre-existing and she oxi-cleaned the shit out of the item until they looked brand new. I've been coming to this place for 6 years now. I'm a mother of two and I live 3 houses down from them. I've never had a problem with this company till about a year ago. They are rude and the place is dirty. The machines are always broken, and they get mad at you when you tell them. They scream at you about "why you put the quarter in!!" Like how am I suppose to know the machine is broken until I put the money in duuuuuh.The women who use to work here were so nice and clean. But now it's disgusting and unwelcoming. At this point I rather take my two children and walk 6 blocks to a different laundry mat. That says a lot!!! Considering I have no car and every week about 2-3 bags of laundry. I would rather walk in the cold with two kids to another laundry then come here ever again!!!!! read more

a gigantic, new laundromat just opened on grand, but i'm staying loyal to bean & clean. so it's smaller, not as slick and with old machines, but it's a family-run business and they're sweet, caring people. quite frankly, i'd rather spend my quarters here. plus they sell an assortment of snacks and drinks and there's always magazines available for you to flip through while you're waiting. read more

Having a laundromat directly across the street from your apartment is unbeatable. This laundromat is a neighborhood establishment. The owner, Gloria, is almost always there. She will remember your name, ask how you're doing, and actually care about your response. There's always a pot of coffee on, although I wouldn't call it a coffee shop. I didn't even notice the name of the place until it was pointed out to me. It's just a laundromat. It's clean, well stocked, has a bathroom, and is run by really sweet people. I do my own laundry and enjoy chatting with Gloria while I wait for the wash and dry cycles. It's easy to avoid the "busy times" and most people start their laundry then leave, so it's not crowded. Gloria's mother grows a variety of potted plants and they're all hanging in the window or sitting outside and all of them are for sale. I've got several of them at home and they're thriving and healthy. Their being closed on Wednesday doesn't bother me - even though after nearly three years I still catch myself walking out the front door with a bag of laundry only to see the gates down, "Aw crap. It's Wednesday." No big deal. One day doesn't make that big a difference in the grand scheme of things! read more

Interesting place. Homey-feeling, can be a bit drafty in the cold. It's funny because they really don't serve coffee - there's a white mr. coffee that looks like it's never been used before sitting behind the counter. This place essentially gets the job done. Someone needs to seriously clean and deodorize this place, the machines leave your clothes with a funky smell. Every corner of this place is filled with piles of junk, lately I've been seeing roaches near the change machine and near the back table. This place may not look brand new and shiny but the machines all work great and the prices are very reasonable. $2.25 for a double loader, $4 for a triple loader. Dryers aren't that cheap at $0.25 for 6 minutes but at least they're huge. Reasonably priced refreshments while you wait ($0.75 for a can of Coke). The staff is extremely friendly--quick with a smile and they always wish me good night when I leave. So I really don't get the bad reviews saying the staff is rude. My guess is it has more to do with the reviewers attitude problem than the staff there. Or they just want to keep people away so there are more machines available lol. The only negative thing I can think to say is that I wish they were open late like the new 24/7 Laundromat on Graham, but I actually like the machines here better and the price is much cheaper. I've been holding off on writing this, because there are many nice things about this laundromat - it's homey, I like their plants they sell, it's convenient, and most of the staff are very sweet. There is, however, one woman with short hair who works there who is so rude and abrasive, I'm finding that more and more I walk away distracted, confused and triggered by her spontaneous aggression. I realize it's probably a stressful place to work, and that there's a lot of demand for such a small establishment, not to mention the surely monotonous nature of the work. But this woman presents herself as completely unwelcoming, burdened, and resentful of customers. She prefers not to make eye contact, and if you have a problem with a machine or need change, she will make you feel like you're asking for the world on a platter. I've made several attempts to take the benefit of the doubt and to accommodate her, thank her, smile at her, and the hostility I receive never changes. It may be something about me personally that she doesn't like, but I can't figure out what that is or seem to offset it, and this isn't really the way I want to be feeling when I'm just trying to get my laundry done.
