A movie theatre that's so comfortable you will likely doze off... a candy room next door.. then a room with games and space and books and did I mention the views? I found a great deal of peace at this home and couldn't be more thankful for alteredself.com for bringing me to Alaska (I chose alaska for two reasons, this retreat and between beaches - don't go there as they lie about it all). In any event, I loved the spa area. They have the COOLEST pool and I had heard about them but wow... I will strive in life to have one! Treadmill, wave pool, swim assist and warm... steam room and sauna are amazing as well....next door is the Turkish bath that has jets and just beautiful natural surroundings... there was so much thought put into this home! Every space is wildly different but all just work so well together.. I loved all the different sinks... and I was almost getting bored at how perfectly done this place was that when I found a black splash I didn't like... darn it, I can't remember which room but it literally made me laugh out loud as I loved everything else about this place. Observation room is so relaxing! A Magical place that I can't wait to explore and will get there earlier so I can take more photos :)

BEWARE! Terrible…read moremanagement,cleaning and grounds crew My family stayed there with a wedding party a couple weekends ago. Lawn was overgrown the night before the wedding, the guests at the house mowed and raked the grass, even after the maintenance guy stopped by, who never offered to do it himself, no trimmer/weed whip. 4 kids cut their feet on a sharp drain in the pool, one getting a staff infection. Hot tub had cigar ash where a cigar was put out from the guests before. All the pool and hot tub water smelled terrible. If your having a wedding reception, expect a phone call at 10pm to shut your music off while having a dance out on the deck. To top it off management kept the bride and grooms deposit on a bunch of false accusations. Never an apology or explanation for any of the issues. This place is tens of thousands of dollars to rent for 4 nights. They are so off from classy management it's not even funny. House is cool though!

The wine is also excellent, so many different varieties for fruit wine can make anyone into a lush. The staff is attentive, quick to serve and helpful. They're also just fun to be around in general. The wines here are all on the sweeter side (I am not a fan of sweet wines) but they did have a few options that even my palate enjoyed to sample though not enough to buy a bottle of... though you may find it to your liking! A fun fact about the Homer Bear Creek Winery is that most of the wine is not produced from grapes but from various local berries. Overall, it was a fun and different experience with a friendly and informative staff member who made the tasting experience quite enjoyable while browsing the trinkets in the gift shop/tasting room. The property also hosts an inn and has a cozy cabin vibe. If going for just the wine tasting I'd say an hour is plenty for a fun thing to do in Homer.

The husband and wife are awesome. Truly. BUT bro. Nah. So our room was the Kachemak room. And sure the view was great but literally 2 feet from the window was the damn entrance to the establishment INCLUDING the porch where people sit and drink. It was impossible to want to window open to enjoy the view as it was almost like Abigaile & I were in a zoo being viewed in through our window. No privacy at ALL and they failed to mention it. Also this building you can hear EVERYTHING. Literally. If someone coughed upstairs that will echo and wake you up. People walking around. Inconsiderate guests who stay up talking until 12 at night. No thank you man. It was to the point we left Homer a day early because truly it was a pretty bad experience. Sadly. The host are great. But the place is not what we wanted.

This is about as close as you're going to get. We slept in a bed in a room on the first floor of this gigantic house. We arrived late at night. In the morning we walked outside and were stunned by the views! We walked down to the water and were again stunned by the insanely cute/cool cabins. You know the insanely remote, girls-only, tree-house you wanted as a young boy? These kind of fit the bill. I should probably try and stay at them eventually. If you're an uptight travel used to staying in sterile hotels and having your hand-held about every little thing, you should probably check out the Best Western/Holiday Inn/Motel 6 instead. You probably won't like it here.

I'm not sure you'll find any better than this property. I'd return in a heartbeat at a different time of the year when there's more going on.
