I had requested a service call through my home warranty company to inspect & repair some electrical outlets that were not working properly. The first company that was given the work order contacted me several days later to decline the job, stating they were understaffed & unable to send anyone. I called my warranty company again, explained the situation & they put in another service request with Bear Creek. I expected another waiting period while the request was submitted & processed. I was surprised at the quick response. The technicians contacted me within a couple hours of my phone call, showed up, were friendly, professional & did the necessary work the same day. We just moved to Central Point and phoned Bear Creek Electric for some help. Joey answered the phone and was a delight. Our issue was that some sockets had switched off. Instead of sending someone out and charging us, she asked me to first check the panel and then the little button on each socket which she had be reset. Bingo, problem solved. The owner's email reply below speaks for itself. I had emailed to get clarification on the invoice because it was about double what I was anticipating given the hourly rate quoted and estimate on how long it would take. An apprentice showed up mid-job, so I was charged for a second person's hours without them setting expectations on updated pricing. I never got a response with an explanation. Two months later, I received a reminder to pay the invoice... no acknowledgment of the questions I had asked about the total cost being DOUBLE the estimate. I followed up asking if he received my email and below is his incredibly rude response, including wildly inappropriate and unnecessary political commentary. Read on for a first-hand example of how he treats customers. Response from Roy: "Yes, I did. Thank you. Please just pay your invoice, or there won't be any electricians around the next time you call. Some one has to teach the next generation of electricians how to do the work or after I retire there won't be anybody to carry on. It is against the state of Oregon labor laws to work an apprentice by himself until he is in his last year of his apprenticeship and the last six months of his last year. It is faster for two men to work on one job when there is more than one outlet to be installed. One man does one part of the job and the other man does another part of the job until the very end when one guy then picks up the tools and writes up a materials list and down the road they go to the next job. I have been doing this now for over 30 years and all of the classes that I have taken, have taught that this is the best way for everyone if the job is time and materials, that is the way we did your job. If we would have bid your job it would have cost you more. Most customers are very happy with the service we provide for them and call us again and again, some customers we couldn't make them happy if we tried, everyone knows how I should be running my business, how much I should be charging, what I should be charging for and on and on. I guess we do what we do until I can't take it any more and hang it up. I am done on the 1st of April, The entitlement community has taken all of the wind from my sails and it is time to cut my losses. Inconsiderate employees = poor ownership. Unsupervised work resulted in numerous problems. Left a mess upon completion of project. Had to return repeatedly to fix bad workmanship- they were confronted with mess they left, and eventually workers pushed trash and wires into bushes. Self righteous,rude and thoughtless owner. The guys came out for a small project within 5 days of contacting BCE. They were here for about an hour. Fast and efficient. Sent my invoice electronically. Electricians don't come cheap, (if at all, these days). I was happy they were able to come in a timely manner. read more

Many years of good experience with Roy - seemed like a great human, honest and good work at the "going rate'. However most recently, Roy sent an employee to do a job, who did not fix the problem and moreover, left my house in far worse condition than when he arrived Roy did not inspect this job and charged me anyway. When he was alerted to the situation Roy offered no apology or remedy except to come and "fix" it for a hefty addtional fee?! Had to hire another company to fix his employee's mess. Subsequently, a relative called to inquire about a job despite the past issue as they also always had a great working relationship up until then. When I called I was told the company would do the job but it probably wouldn't be until the next week. As I called on Thursday that seemed quite reasonable. In fact the owner came that very day, solved the problem and gave suggestions on how to fix another about which we hadn't called. Great all around and he was very nice also. read more

Incredibly unprofessional and unreliable. I scheduled an appointment with them, and discussed my scheduling needs at the time of scheduling, that I had a work meeting to get to. However, they managed to not show up anyways. They were polite enough to call when they were already twenty minutes late and tell me they'd be another fifteen minutes so I had to cancel. This was after it took several weeks for them to even call back and make an appointment. There are plenty of electricians in the valley. Use a different one. read more

Roy has done work now at a few residencies for us now and the results were more than expected. He also figured out what the GFCI issue was that other electricians couldn't figure out. Also found other issues with the original wiring (home was 10 years old) and fixed them as well. Always like dealing with them. Today, called them, got a call back, 45 minutes later Roy shows up, 5 minutes later he is done (again fixed someone else's problem). I enjoy working with them. read more

Zero stars. Deceitful, dishonest business practices! Roy came to look at the work and quoted us $400-$500 for 3 different jobs: the hot tub circuit, the outside plug, and the air conditioner. When the technician came, he only did one job: the air conditioner. So only 33% of the proposed work was actually done. They billed $225, far from a reasonable rate for the 1 hour that the technician spent in our home. On the invoice it said the rate is $125/hour per technician.... plus $120/hour for DRIVING time!!! Electricians in this area charge $40/hour as a standard rate per technician. When giving an estimate, Roy did not say what their hourly rate was because it is obviously outrageous. Even Larry, the technician who came to do the job, did not know what their hourly rate was. They keep that information even from their own workers! That speaks of deceitful business practices. They also charged us $25 for materials even though we provided all the materials for the job. Additionally, when the technician was writing in the hours, he specifically said that he must put the start time from when he left the shop. So his driving time was already included in the 1.5 hours. He was only here for an hour so it makes sense that the other half hour was driving time. The company is outright lying about the time on top of everything else! When I called to discuss this and ask about the dispute policy, Roy handled it by yelling at me and telling me that next time I should call someone else, and then hung up on me. What an unprofessional and disgusting way to treat a client. Needless to say we will never seek their services again. read more

If I could I would give a zero star rating because that's all the service you will get from these folks. I call at a reasonable hour and no one answers. I get a call back an hour later from a receptionist who answers the phone as if I should know who she is. I detail what the job requires and she tells me "we don't do bids." I tried to pry out what that means and it turns out these folks won't come to your house or place of business to let you know what the job would cost until you already have hired them. So how are you supposed to know what it costs?! It would be like going to buy a new car (about the cost of what the job would be) and not knowing the sticker price until after you signed the paperwork. Laughable. I told her that's not how business is done and she pretty much just told me to find someone else. The GALL. You got to be joking me. Not even bad service, they just refuse to provide service. And your damn right I cursed you out you need a fire lit under your ass and need to learn how to treat potential clients with respect. After all I am trying to bring your silly little electric business a six figure job and you were so rude you lost the ability to even bid it, even though I told you you would be the first and only bid so far. Terrrrrible business acumen! BAD. In addition to my first bit above I wanted to add that I asked the secretary how they got so much business if they don't even provide quotes beforehand. She tells me ," well most people just know we do a good job and trust us, I mean we have been in business 25 years." So I am just supposed to trust you, but you won't give me pricing before I agree to do business with you?!? What kind of hair-brained way of running a business is this! The only way that would ever work is if it is close family and friends, which I kind of assume most of the good reviews are here for. Today, Roy the owner of Bear Creek Electric came to my home. He was totally discourteous to my disabled veteran tenant. He was rude and inappropriate, pretending as if he might hit my tenant, and referred to my tenant as "a kid" , as in his statement "I hate kids", which he made to my stunned tenant, who is in is mid-twenties. The entire interaction was bizarre and awkward, to say the least. What is wrong with this guy Roy? He must not want repeat business, because he certainly won't be getting mine again. read more

My wife and I were in the process of purchasing an older home with older wiring which needed to be evaluated in order to get a quote from insurance and renegotiate with the seller. We were on a tight schedule in order to get everything ready for the closing date and the electrician no showed for the appointment. We were able to reschedule for the next day and the electrician showed up. He was rude and demeaning and acted as though we were wasting his time (ironic considering he did not show up the day before without calling) and made it seem as though we were over reacting and did not need to replace anything, going against everything we learned from multiple inspectors and home insurance. Insurance won't cover us if the house has this particular wiring! He did not answer our questions or validate our concerns. He was unprofessional and made an already stressful situation worse.
