TERRIBLE! Got a tee-time for 10:10 AM arrived 1 hour early to go to range and was told that they were 40 minutes behind. Well drove over an hour, now I was committed. They ran out of golf carts, gave us an old version with wheels pointing in it was impossible to drive straight. Every hole we waited to foursome ahead of us and they waited too. It turns out they booked with 5 minute separation. That's right 5 minutes CRAZY. Arrived at 9:10 finished at 5PM. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I visited Bear Creek Golf Club in Monroe, Georgia with some out-of-state visitors, driving about 1.5 hours each way to get there. We were excited for a day on the course but a few issues made the experience frustrating. though I'll try to keep this fair. First, the driving range ball machine was broken when we arrived, and it took staff quite a while to get it fixed, delaying our warm-up. The course itself was in okay condition playable but a bit rough around the edges. However a couple of holes have apparently been set up as temporaries which feels like it should have been addressed improve the overall flow. Pace of play was the biggest letdown. Our round took about 5 hours and 10 minutes which I can live with on a weekend. but the group of 6-7 ahead of us was moving extremely slowly. When I politely asked the staff if they could have a quick chat with them to speed things up or let us play through they said no not much they can do and citing it being a busy day. I get that it's a small operation with limited staff and everyone deserves to enjoy their time but a simple courtesy intervention or allowing a pass-through could have made a big difference without ruining anyone's day. In fact this is standard procedure for many courses I've played at. On a safety note the golf cart we had was problematic--the brakes didn't respond well, even when pressed fully, and it would take a couple of seconds to stop. This felt like a real health hazard especially on the downhill sections toward the end of the course. That said the staff were friendly enough otherwise and I can understand they're doing their best with what they have. If they fix the maintenance issues and improve pace management this could be a solid spot. Unfortunately these problems overshadowed the positives for us. I'd suggest checking recent conditions before making a long drive. read more

I drove an hour to be SCAMMED by this TERRIBLE course. The owner had the audacity to charge me $70 in the afternoon while everyone else in my group paid $45. As soon as I noticed and asked for a receipt, he refused, said "no refunds," and KICKED ME OFF THE PROPERTY. THE OWNER SHOULD BE ARRESTED FOR FRAUD. THIS IS COMPLETELY ILLEGAL, AND I'M REPORTING THIS IMMEDIATELY. I'm filing complaints with: Georgia Attorney General's Office for fraudulent business practices & Georgia Department of Revenue for failing to provide receipts and possible tax fraud. This place is a scam, and I'll make sure as many people as possible know about it. read more

You are forced to pay for 18 holes as they do not allow or have a 9 hole rate. That would be fine if they would manage play with a Marshall but they don't. Players are stacked up everywhere due to slow play. Not even going into the poor service and attitude of the cashier. Bad experience all the way around. Owner is a scammer and extremely unprofessional. I paid for 18 holes on a Saturday which was somewhere near 75 dollars, course was absolute shit there were no carts so I was stuck on a moped bike. Owner refused to refund anything and instead gave me a ticket to come back at a later date and play 12 holes. Wtf? 12 holes? Whatever... I come back a couple months later to play with my friends who live in the area and they wouldn't even honor the ticket!Buddy is in the wrong business. Play any other course than this one. Excellent course. Very well maintained. Fun layout that challenges me to use every club in the bag multiple times a round. My usual partner (11hcp) and I (high hdcp) both find it to be the perfect level of challenging, so it's great for a wide range of skill. Greens are well kept and roll true. It seems they are constantly making improvements which is great as the layout is only getting better. Employees are good people. We've played a number of courses within an hour or two of the area and this has been the only one that keeps me coming back every week or two. Have found it to be the best value around. read more

This course has come a long way since it first began and was part of Woodlake. The new owners have turned it around and made it a fun and relaxing place to play. And this summer the greens have rolled faster and been in better shape than ever. My family and I been on many courses in Georgia, some ranked among the best in the state, and there is not a course within miles that holds a candle to Bear Creek now. It's a course you don't want to go underestimating and then overlook. If you do you'll miss out on one of the best rounds you'll ever play. read more

Worst Owner Ever.... EVER. If there was less than one star they would get this. Doesn't give you warning kicks people straight out of the course. Drove on the fairway with no signs that said you couldn't drive on it. Average at best course! Terrible cart paths. Haven't been paved since it was built. Terrible grass and a waste of money. I will likely never play here again. My family has hosted a golf tourney here nearly every year for the past decade+, and this year would have been #12. We always secure our date a year in advance with the same format, so we've had this planned since last October. Brochures went out and players were committed. We get notified THIS MONTH (September) that they will not honor our shotgun start, we can have staggered tee times, or move it to Friday. WTF??? Super unprofessional and inconvenient, so we ended up canceling our event. It's really disappointing to our family, especially since the previous owners and staff were so helpful and accommodating. If these new owners only care about lining their own pockets and have no consideration for loyal customers and supporting the community, THEY WILL FAIL. read more

This course was not worth $40 + the $9 GolfNow fee! Fairways were a mess. Greens were aerated and not trimmed. Tees were just as bad as fairways. Weeds and untrimmed all around. Play course about three times a month with a member. The course is well kept and clean. The layout is fun for medium to better players. The fairways are nice and plenty of grass, very few washes. Some fairways are wide enough to crackdown on a drive and others make you think. Overall, the staff and facilities are very nice. Bear Creek Golf Course has absolutely the best greens in the area. On top of that, the staff is very welcoming and friendly, and the course is as well-maintained as the greens are nice. Getting tee-times is easy, and there's always a game available, with Monday and Wednesday morning games, Evening Leagues , as well as Friday afternoon and Saturday morning "association" games, for men and women. Membership options are the best bang for the buck, but for the "travel-golfer", you can't beat the prices, especially for the experience. The course is a challenging lay-out with several tee-boxes providing fun for all levels of golfers. For the best golf on the nicest greens, it's got to be Bear Creek. read more

I played Bear Creek for the first time the other day. Well, the layout is not bad, but the course is not very well maintained. I got the impression that the course had seen better days. The greens, which I understand are Champions Bermuda, were bumpy and inconsistent. The rough had just been mowed, but piles of cut grass was everywhere, indicating that it had gotten very long before it was mowed. Wow, finding the next tee box can be very challenging, especially if one of the direction signs has fallen down. Overall, not a very good experience. read more

Bear creek is a great golf course. The course is usually in great shape. I can often find golfnow tee times for around $20-$30. Which is awesome. They do offer a $25 all you can play during the week. And on the weekend is you do have to pay full price(which is $47 I think) it's pretty fair compared to some of the courses around the area. Way better that cedar lake. The course layout is good with some challenging holes, however the overall experience at this course is not worth even a one star rating!! You could not distinguish any difference between the fairway and the rough and there were piles of old cuttings from previous mowings scattered throughout the course. The staff was not very hospitable toward GolfNow players as Mr Palmer the "general manager" indicated that they did not make anything from these bookings and his attitude didn't help matters. The owners need to make serious considerations to making some management changes as I will not make another trip here even with discounts. 95 degrees and no water coolers anywhere to be seen on the course, are you serious??? Worst experience on a golf course not because of my golf game. The guy who cuts the greens decided to stalk behind us at every hole. We even tried to show etiquette by allowing him to pass us to get ahead however one of the holes still had the sprinkler going and therefore we got back in front of him. I'm not sure if he thought it was funny or what but every time my golf cart would move forward he would inch forward right behind my cart and would sit there and stared us playing the hole as if indicating for us to hurry up. Just considered inconsiderate and unprofessional in my opinion. read more
