The best part about this hotel is the fishing guide! We did the half day fly fishing with Kay! He was so helpful, he taught a 12 year old how to fly fish within an hour and he caught an 18" cutthroat trout! Not only was he a great guide- he was a true steward of Glacier National Park. You could tell he cared about it and the wildlife that inhabit it. A truly memorable experience. I cannot wait until our next trip out.

Had the best time as a first-timer fly fishing! Our guide, Nigel, was extremely good at breaking things down for us and taught us a lot of what to look for versus just telling us to plop our lines in the water. Highly recommend!

Such a fabulous time rafting with Great Northern. Three of us showed up last minute without a reservation and the staff was so accommodating. Two of us kayaked and one of our group joined a rafting group. Chris and Trevor are fabulous guides, knowledgeable and fun! Highly recommend Great Northern and we will be back next year for sure.

My family and I stayed here for the night while visiting Glacier National Park. Gorgeous lodging with lots of activities to do, very family friendly! The wrap around balcony was nice to see the wildlife. Since we were there for only 1 night we didn't get to do the outdoor activities they had but looks like they're known for their water rafting tours. Our room was spacious for the 3 of us, and had everything we needed. There's a small coffee shop on their site which is cute. The staff were friendly and welcoming on check in.

Beautiful resort Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable River guides were awesome and the dinner on the Flathead River shore was delicious Shaq and Mikaylee were amazing We will be back

Me and my mom went fly fishing with Kay yesterday. He is the most amazing guide ever!! It was my first time fishing and his enthusiasm, patience, and endless encouragements all made the experience both relaxing and exciting! Kay is incredibly knowledgable of all aspects of the area and you can tell he truly cares about the the park, animals, and people! A 100/10 guide and a super fun guy Definitely recommend trying it out!

We made reservation for the half-day white water rafting with the Greation Northern Resort (we tent camped nearby). The trip took us down the Middle Fork Flathead River. There are a few companies that do the same route, and the reason we picked this group was because of their steller reviews. And they did not disappoint. The guides were friendly, fun, knoweldgeable and easy going. We took our eight year old and felt safe and informed enough to make the trip enjoyuable. Pick the Great Northern Resort for your white water rafting experience! And G was a great guide!

And I am so pleased with how easy everything was that we rented for our event! Based on their excellent website, I had a good idea of what we would need...a soundsystem for our music, a cordless microphone because it's hard to hear outside, a raised square platform for two people to stand on, a bouncehouse for the kiddos (bonus they had a castle shaped one for our Happily Ever After theme!), a dozen wooden benches to put on the riverside deck for seating, and chalkboard arrow signs showing the way. It only took 10 minutes in person, plus a deposit to get it all reserved. They called closer to my event to remind & assure that all was on schedule. They arrived with their professional truck 2 days before my event and delivered it all, showing me how everything worked. The written instructions for the boucehouse were helpful and it was easy-peezy to put it up (it also came with it's own tarp, stakes, and large cushiony cube to enter it easily). The helpful delivery guys gave me a quick tutorial on the soundsystem...that also was easy-peezy come showtime. (We just made a pandora playlist and played it through a cellphone, another person made a Spotify list and that was used after) The written instructions in the cordless microphone case made that process just as seamless (people could hear us just fine, even being able to speak over the music--hello karaoke later!) The benches were lovely to use during the ceremony, then transitioned easily to our eating tables, and then later around the firepit. All the rental prices were extremely reasonable and it just couldn't have been any easier. All we had to do was make sure the bouncehouse stayed dry! After our event, we left everything stacked safely in our driveway right next to the house, and they came and picked it up while we were at the airport seeing family off. Talk about convenient! If I ever have need to rent anything again, they're going to be my first call. Their website is extremely handy to see what they have! Thank you so much for making our special day that much more special. We couldn't have done it without you =)

Though the accommodations are nice and the location is close to the West Entrance of Glacier…read moreNational Park, the new owners are not hospitable people and seem a bit unhinged.... For example, we arrived late one evening from Glacier Park, around 9:00 pm, and I was planning to make some spaghetti for a later dinner for my two kids. When I looked for a pot to boil the noodles, however, I couldn't find one, and then I saw the sign by the phone in the cabin that read "If you need anything," to call their service number. When I called the number, there was no answer, and since I had stayed at the Great Bear Inn before, I walked over to the main building, which was always open for guests, to find someone to help. When I found the place quiet and the manager's office closed, however, I went into the public kitchen area and took a pot, walked back to my cabin, and made the spaghetti. After my family ate the food, I washed and cleaned the pot and returned it to the kitchen. The following day I called the landlady, named "Bunny," and asked what I needed to do to check out the following day. When she asked me why I had called the previous night, I explained I needed to borrow a pot to cook spaghetti, but after I tried calling and then walked over to the office and found no one to help, I borrowed one from the public kitchen area, used it to boil the noodles, and after eating, I had cleaned the pot and promptly returned it to the kitchen. Bunny was irate and scolded me for doing this, insinuating that I had broken some sort of unpublished rule that the kitchen was off limits to guests. When I objected and said that I had both called and walked to the office for help, she was became rude to me, saying that she had an early bedtime schedule and could not be bothered after 9:00 pm. When I expressed my dissatisfaction at this blatant disregard of the customer's need, she became hostile, and when I told her that I had paid over $1500 to stay in the supposedly furnished cabin for three nights and therefore had a reasonable expectation to have the place furnished as was stated in the advertisement. When Bunny insisted that the pot I had needed was included in the kitchen area, I looked once again and finally found it -- but it was stored behind a wooden panel that was stuck due to poor maintenance of the property. When I explained this to her she was entirely unsympathetic and cold toward me... I have no ill-will toward Bunny and her husband Larry who manage the new version of the "Great Bear Inn." I had stayed at the resort twice before in previous years and under the former management my experience then was happy and the service was excellent. However I can no longer recommend the Great Bear Inn because the new management apparently has no idea of what decent customer service means. Let me close by saying that on the day of our departure, Larry, the husband of Bunny, aggressively came to the cabin and pounded on the door telling us to get out because it was almost 11:00 AM. At the time I was washing dishes we used there because there was a sign posted that said that all residents must wash the dishes before leaving, but Larry told me to just forget it and get out... He and Bunny then sat in their noisy ATV jeep in front of cabin until we finished packing the car and we drove off.... Disgraceful and childish behavior, to say the least, and I will NEVER stay at the Great Bear Inn again. For these and other reasons, not the least being the $500 per night price for staying there, I EMPHATICALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THE GREAT BEAR INN.

Yes it's pricey, everything is 3 miles from the west glacier entrance, but this really is a one stop shop. And the ice cream shop is amazing too! The only thing the place could improve I think is the store. They could have more grocery items and less souvenirs. And the only other thing is they don't let kids in the hot tub. There were two pools? One was for families and the other was for "adults", and that one had a hot tub. Having young kids prevented me from using the hot tub at all. Our family met us there from out of state, and they got the cheapest cabin, and beware that those least expensive cabins come without a bathroom inside! But overall this place is whole and complete and is perfect for families! Also there's TONS of fun activities near the campground. Not just GNP for going in but there's tons of other activities within 10 miles. And using the app to get going to the sun tickets isn't too bad. We tried and both me and my family member got tickets in the group we wanted. You just have to be online at exactly 7pm on the recreation.gov app.
