Me and my family are extremely disappointed and displeased with this place. The lack of care and knowledge about my pet and his condition is disgusting. My Great Dane was brought in for a surgery and a neuter one morning and later that evening upon picking him up I noticed a large mass around his heart. Within less than 24 hours after those surgeries my dog had an open wound about a 6 inch hole around and about 6 inches in depth due to such rough and lack of staff and care during my boys surgery. Of course I brought it to their attention and came in the next day and what do you know the doctor that performed the surgeries is gone. No one had any answers for us. Another doctor there doctor jordan took the brunt of it and gave my boy 6 weeks of free laser treatment twice a week for their negligence. Remind you this wasn't the doctor who performed the surgeries.. our doctor was Doctor Gray. All during these treatments we haven't seen or heard from anyone about what happened to my dog and his progress. I just now seen Doctor Gray today who preformed my dogs surgery almost 6 weeks later.. it took 6 weeks to talk to the doctor that is responsible for my dogs current condition. Meeting with her today she proceeded to say that this was my dogs sensitive skin and completely tried to turn it around off of her. Mind you she's been ducking us for over a month and when I sat down to speak with her she acted defensive as people do when they are in the wrong. This place is an absolute nightmare for your animal. I would not trust them with another animal of mind ever. And you shouldn't either!

    My cat Sweetie

My cat came in for poor appetite and slightly dehydrated..was offered tests to determine the cause or to treat symptoms first and if that didn't help come back for tests..she had been a patient there before and had recovered after several days of IV therapy..at the time it was suggested she may have a chronic kidney condition but the costs of testing were more than a budget if social security and a pension can afford..so having this history I trusted that they knew how to care for my cat..they administer rather large bag of water through a shot in her side, gave her vitamin shot and a anti-nausea medicine..they also said she might be slightly anemic..the next morning she was breathing rapidly , her heart was racing and her eyes were dilated..I called the vets office but did not receive a call back til later in the afternoon and they said to take her to an emergency vet ..called them and they said as they didn't open for an hour to try back with Bear Creek..it's now 4:15 and they close at 5:00..would not see her and said they didn't have all the required procedure for emergency visit..an hour later I arrived at the end vet and was told my kitty who had been walking around the day before was going to die within hours..that her mind was gone and she was blind..they told me she had been given too much fluid too fast which pushed her anemia over the edge and her oxygen was .05 ..the decision was made to euthanize my beautiful kitty girl as there was no blood available for a transfusion..which may or may not have helped..Bear Creek never even bothered to call the next day..I gathered my self, dried my eyes and called them..after 3 attempts they finally answered and said yes they were aware she had been euthanized...she was treated so carelessly I feel because didn't have the $ for all those tests..which I had to max out my credit cards to get her an ER vet appointment and euthanasia (which ironically was the same price as the tests I couldn't afford)..I had had such good treatment there before I couldn't believe that my kitty was essentially just murdered because I couldn't afford testing..zero stars

    Beautiful location.

I'm writing this review about a visit I had in September of last year. I am a first time dog owner…read moreand at the time of the visit I was new to the neighborhood. I took my dog here while on a walk because he needed another round a vaccines and a general check up. I got in and into a room quickly and Dr. Link came in. I told him what I needed done and asked a few questions common for first time dog owners as well as questions about the shots he was giving my dog and he gave me vague and dismissive answers. I asked about pricing while in the room, he said he would come back with an answer, he did not. He sold me a pack of heartworm meds for dogs 25-50 lbs, my dog was 45 lbs and only 8 months old, so obviously still growing. My dog is now 58 lbs. We got the vaccines, checked out, and I had left before I realized I was charged a $50 new client registration fee. When we got home my dog was shaking his head non stop like he had something wrong with his ear, sure enough there was what looked like a tick in his ear. I removed the tick and put it in a bag and brought it back up to the clinic. I asked Dr. Link if it was a tick, he was extremely dismissive and told me it was just normal earwax buildup. I was still visibly unsure and he begrudgingly offered to look at it under a microscope, he did, and sure enough, it was a tick!! (Note he did not look in my dogs ears during the initial check up.) I write all this to say, do not take your pet here if you love them and want good care for them !!! Dr. Link is dismissive and lofty, especially to younger clients, not to mention exorbitantly expensive. I drive 30+ minutes now to go to a good vet.

Not only is the office exam fee high compared to my usual vet, but when asked about price checking a medication he immediately snapped. I was only asking because he is price-gouging something that is.15 cents/tablet on Chewy/Petmeds to over $1/tablet. I can understand some price discrepancies, but this is ridiculous. He was very inconsiderate and dismissive of any other concerns I had regarding my dog's health. I would never bring any animal I care about anywhere close to this office. I truly believe Dr. Link does not take anyone under the age of 30 seriously, nor does he truly care about the well-being of his patients. ** UPDATE** Following this post, made from the parking lot, I was approached while in my car by Dr. Link. He was unapologetic and told me he would transfer my records wherever I needed, but I was never to return. I was provided a full refund for this visit, which was just a waste of my time and energy.

In all honesty, my first experience was a horrible one. We were visiting his parents here in Albemarle, as we lived in Charlotte at the time. One of my dogs, we were unsure of which, got into rat poison. It was close to the end of operating hours on a Saturday. However, I called and notified them that we were 10 to 15 minutes out and what the emergency was. We arrived two minutes after operating hours, and the doors were locked and no cars for in sight. This tells me that they possibly even left before the end of operating hours. We then had to drive 45 minutes to an emergency clinic in Charlotte to have my dog taken care of. (sidenote: on the way to Charlotte I called our primary vet at the time. The vet had already left, but the receptionist gave me where to go, and she even called ahead for us. The following Monday, my primary vet actually called me to check on my dogs, even though he had not seen them when the emergency happened. ) I did not experience them again until recently. My husband and I moved back to Stanley county. We would take them there to get shots, but other than that my dogs were pretty healthy. However, one of my dogs had seizures out of nowhere. I actually took him to West stanly (also owned by Dr. Griffin) where they pretty much told me, they couldn't do anything for him and sent me to a Charlotte again. The next few occurrences were fine. However, they do not take appointments and so either you have to have a job that is flexible or take time off. Not very conducive to working individuals with 9-to-5 jobs. Also, they will not see animals between 12 and two, when most people have lunch. This makes it very hard to get your animal the treatment they need. Recently, my dog, Sammy started his treatment for seizures again. When they gave me his prescription, they never stated anything except 30 days later I needed to come back to have his blood work done. I came back. Luckily, I had the day off, however, I guess I was right at the cusp of when his blood work had to be taken, although no one had told me previously . Instead of rushing him back to have blood work taken they let me sit there for 20 to 30 minutes before informing me they couldn't do anything. They extended my prescription for two weeks. Needless to say, the next time I came, they refused to take my dogs blood again. They attempted to place the blame on me. However, they used incorrect language in describing when I needed to return. When I asked to speak to the vet, I was met with attitude . There's no doubt I got attitude back. When the vet finally spoke to me, she automatically had attitude and didn't care about the dog or my time. It was their policy and they didn't care if my dog got tested or not. Which is sad since without the meds, he could have seizures. You would think the wellbeing of the animal would come before all else. Also, be aware, if you question them, you will be banned.

I appreciate that they offer later hours on weeknights, and they ALWAYS fit us in, even if it's close to closing time. That's usually when our dog seems to have issues, too, when our usual vet is already closed. No matter who we have seen--or at what time--we have received exceptional care at NMAH. So far, we've seen Dr. David James, Dr. Paul Kritzinger, Dr. Schaff (now retired), Dr. Kimberly Renehan, Dr. Rachel Spickler, Dr. Katie Blackard, and Dr. Anna Shaffer. The doctors are extremely thorough, and we always leave feeling like JoJo has been well cared for. They are also great about emailing us visit summaries and aftercare instructions, and they share details of our visits with our usual vet to ensure communication of her treatment plans. Even NMAH's technicians and front desk staff are wonderful. Everyone is just so warm and compassionate, and they understand the urgency of our situations. We highly recommend NMAH!

I have been to 3 so far; the first two were nice, but didnt particularly stand out. Fortunately, Dr Holland did at North Mecklenburg Animal Hospital. I have brought in 2 of my cats so far, and each time Dr Holland has been great with them, and has researched info on medications and options with specialists both for my cats with FIP and with eye issues; both visits, he was understanding about pricing concerns and gave options that I felt were fair and helpful, including thorough emails with additional info and follow up. The office is impeccably clean and the staff very kind. I have passed his info on to the rest of the family, and finally feel that we've found our new vet.

The only notable negative I've found is their positive reputation may be causing them to be a little too popular; most times I've visited they've been very busy and I usually need to book out at least a few weeks in advance if I want a weekend or late day appointment. Also in my experience when I've gone to a scheduled appointment I often have to wait a bit past my actual scheduled time to be seen. The wait area is pretty small but the staff is happy to come out to your car and check you in there if you would like to wait in your car. Also there's a decently large grass area to walk/relieve your dog if needed. That said, I feel any small hiccups are worth it as the staff clearly cares about providing the best care possible for all their clients and pets. Every staff member and Veterinarian I've spoken to there has always been very patient, helpful and informative during my visits. Would highly recommend to anyone needing high quality veterinarian care.
