Owner Drew Smith exhibits and sells his stunning photographs, most taken in the area around Crystal Lake, Sleeping Bear Dunes park, and Traverse City area. He was happy to talk about his photos and where a photo was taken. You can also enjoy photos and watercolor paintings of birds, dragonflies, flowers, and scenery by local artist Carl James Freeman (sometimes he is working on a new painting in the gallery) Stop in to enjoy the art, get a taste of local scenery--and maybe pick out art to display in your cottage. I first stumbled upon Petals & Perks a few years during my first visit to Frankfort and I fell in love. The drink prices, in-comparison to the other coffee shops around, are on the cheaper end. I visited another coffee shop on main street and the small mocha at shop was $1+. Petals & Perks is large inside and can easily accommodate a variety of group sizes. I've visited during peak hours in which all of the tables in the front are taken up but they had a hidden back room that had a a few more tables and chairs. The staff has always been friendly anytime I've visited no matter how busy it is inside. This is a popular coffee shop so even if the line is long the staff is well trained to keep the line moving. If you want to avoid the crowd, come bring and early.
