The cabins vary based on your preference and the owners are very friendly and have a desire to please the guests. They went over and above for us for our anniversary and two nights we were the only diners that they served. Most places would normally not open if they only had two guests. This is a multi season lodge that is wonderful for snow sledding, hunting and canoeing. I cannot wait to revisit them next summer to enjoy the property in the warm weather.

While I was in Maine, I wanted to travel to the northern portion along the Canadian border. Hotels are few and far between where I was looking to go, so I found this Inn on TA (all excellent reviews). The price was AMAZING (only $85.23 for Oct. 11, 2013), so I made my reservation. When I arrived, I was in love. It is a beautiful, 100-year-old home that is filled with so much charm and warmth. It had these gorgeous hardwood floors and was decorated with cool antiques like old phonographs and, of course, old irons. You look around at all these beautiful things as if you were in a museum. The house is very welcoming - like your own home would be, only better! The Innkeepers, Kate and Kevin, are exactly what you would expect of people who live in Maine; they were nice, and friendly, and beautiful, and were very interesting to talk to. When I was led upstairs to my room, I could not believe my eyes (right away, I realized I had made a mistake in only staying for one night). I wanted to live there forever. My room had a big, queen bed, and there was a twin bed on the other side of the room. There was a private bathroom (all the rooms have private bathrooms for spoiled Americans such as myself). The bathroom was very spacious with wonderful, fluffy towels and a nice shower (no tub, just shower).The room was beautifully decorated with more antiques. I loved everything from the furniture, to the glass doorknobs to the windows! When I crawled into that bed at night, I could have sworn that those delicious sheets had been ironed; I have never experienced such comfortable bedding! My room and bathroom were immaculately clean, as was the rest of the Inn. On the second floor (where all the rooms were) there was a little sitting area with a frig and books and other things you might find yourself needing. It's a nice little area to just go in and curl up with a book. The next morning I woke up to the aroma of the most amazing breakfast. There were other guests there too, and everybody sat at a big table and talked and enjoyed this marvelous breakfast that had been prepared for us by Kate. She uses real china, and real coffee cups! There were muffins, any kind of cereal, wonderful scrambled eggs, toast with jam, coffee, a big variety of teas, etc. - you definitely do not come away hungry. It was such a lovely experience. I live in a very fast-paced city where it is hard to find nice people There's too much traffic, too many people, too much trash, too much of everything. When I visit a town like Caribou and meet people from other walks of life, I am enchanted. Visiting this wonderful town, and staying in this Inn makes me want to move to Caribou and live like they do; it made me see life from a different perspective. Unfortunately, my time was up and I had to leave. If I ever find myself in the northern-most area of Maine again, I will most definitely stay here again; but, next time, I will stay much longer - if they will have me. But I also realized most reviews are over a year old. I am happy to report that the hotel has gone through a sizeable renovation. Parking was great. Big lot in the back, lots of spaces. We had booked a room for two nights for the eclipse over a year ago. We had likely the smallest room in the hotel; corner room at the end of a long hall. But it was great for our needs. The Queen bed was VERY comfortable and the pillows, while small, weren't the flimsy things you see in most hotels right now. The mini fridge was much larger than anticipated; we tend to travel with our soda stream and it fit 4 of our bottles in the fridge as well as sandwich supplies. We also both use a lot of electronics and there were plenty of outlets, including USB outlets, so we were all set. The one thing I would say is our room has a bit of an odor to it, however, it was over 60 degrees so the AC kicked in for a bit while we were napping; I'm willing to be it hasn't been run in 6 months so that's very likely the culprit and not enough to lose a star. A very nice boutique hotel. Would highly recommend. Probably one of the most comfy beds I've slept in for a hotel in a while.

Check in was easy, the beds were clean and the pillows are really comfortable, the young lady and older gentleman at the front desk were very friendly! They give you plenty of towels and washcloths. The fridge and microwave were very nice to have as I was here for a week. The bad, the carpet was stained to high heavens, the wallpaper is falling down in numerous places, the toilet was abnormally high and looked as if the seat was chewed on by a dog and maybe painted over. There was also water damage on the ceiling in quite a few places. I assume door handles were replaced but the old hole wasn't covered so you can see threw the door by the door handle, I do assume with the right movement and a hanger you'd be able to open the door up quite easily from outside. I was woken up every morning by a back up alarm from what I assume was a daily delivery to the hotel. There is a hospital close by so sirens are inevitable. It was also loud here, I don't know if it's the renovations the website says they are doing or if it was elephants running down the stairs but it it was over all noisy. Parking isn't ideal either, especially at dinner time made quite a few laps one night waiting for a spot to open up. I didn't know what to expect from this town as I've never visited here before but if I have to come back again I will tell my employer to put me at the Hampton after staying here.

There is no elevator, which meant I had to lug everything up the stairs myself. The stairs and the hallway were filthy, I should've turned around right then and there. I entered my room, also dirty, there were crumbs and one whole cracker on the floor by the bed, and the toilet was dirty. There were two remotes in the room, neither one worked, so the TV was inoperable. There were no washcloths, when I asked for some, I did not get them. The refrigerator was off, and smelled like mildew. On my second day, I glanced out the window opened the window for some fresh air, and because there is a smoking area right outside, my room immediately filled with cigarette smoke. I tried to use the fitness center, and the pictures will show evidence as to why that was not an option. I asked to speak to a manager, and was told by the desk attendant that they didn't know who the manager was or when they would be in. It was loud, walls are thin, and I felt unsafe. I would highly recommend other accommodations.

Our friends had the same thing happen on the same date / different room. After multiple calls, we found out that Amid had canceled our reservations. Hotel refused to offer us a room. Then they failed to provide a refund. IMO, this hotel is shady, and would avoid. A google search reveals lots of skepticism about providing credit card information - so we're not the first to get burned.
