We rented a boat from aspen cove/ panguitch lake boat rentals and they weren't there when we arrived our day was almost RUINED! Bear paw SAVED THE DAY!! They let us take out a boat last min so that we could get just a couple hours in seeing as we drove all the way from Las Vegas and bought fishing licenses already and were only in town for the day. Ended up being a wonderful fishing trip caught 5 trout in 2 hours!! They were so helpful. I WILL ONLY GO TO BEAR PAW FROM NOW ON! Thanks again! read more

My family and I enjoyed two nights in an RV spot. The owner Scott was very informative and friendly. We were able to rent a pontoon boat and fish on the lake. Great place to stay, unplug and fish, great food as well. Cabins are cozy and basic, just like I like it.

Stayed here for 5 days and can't wait to come back. I honestly did want to leave. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. The camp grounds are clean and we'll spaced. I like this spot because is has trees and a good view of the lake. There is a restaurant in the lodge as well as a small store that has a few items. You can buy ice, firewood, fishing licenses and rent boats. We reserve out spots a year in advance. I'm wanting to add an extra week here during the summer we love it so much. read more

My family and I did not have such a great experience from beginning to end. we did not mind the rustic outdoors or the mouses an spiders in the cabin, or even the beautiful view of the lake but, we did mind the carbon monoxide alarm going off the first night there @ 3am .. took unit to front office to be replaced and never got another unit to put in cabin. We did mind having to move cabins because according to owner my boys toilet plugged from the party b4 us shoving the toilet full of tampons. We did mind that when we moved to the new cabin we found old stale muffins in the oven and the dishes were dirty. We did mind that when I took my daughter and grandson out to eat at their diner that her food was cold CFS and he/ the server took it back to warm it up and never returned her food and gave us a check he also never came back an offered refills on drinks either. We did mind that this place is a complete fire hazard. We were given a lot rules of being cleanly or we would be charged xtra fees and the cabins were not so cleanly or inspected very well themselves .. we were told we'd be charged for anything they had to clean. We rented 3 cabins a party of 12 out of the 3 we were in 2 of the toilets needed to be serviced .. My sons sheet had a brown stain on it. Wires are showing from power outlets. Broken window in one of the cabins. You had to unplug the fridge so the heater would work and visa versa. too much power to one outlet or not enough. We paid 1400$ to stay here 3 days. Customer service was not very good. It was almost like because they were told about the problems we were having in the cabins it was our fault and it got us poor service. I will say the mountain is beautiful and has a beautiful view but sleeping at night was a problem as my carbon monoxide alarm was never returned and the cabins are ran off propane. Stayed at the bear paw resort over Labor Day weekend. The toilet in the bathroom was on a 45 degree slant from the floor starting to sink into the crawl space, the water heater emitted massive amounts of natural gas and smelled the entire cabin like rotten eggs, the shower head had 0 water pressure absolutely none and after a long day on the lake my kids could not even shower. Also the shower head was off and when I brought this to the attention of the staff a middle aged man I'm not sure if he's the owner or handyman, pretty much told me I was not telling the truth and after I walk out I could hear him talking mess about me to the lady who works there, the cherry on top was how unclean and unsafe the place was! Better off staying at another resort or getting a small trailer to camp in! read more

The map on here is wrong... this place is right on Panguitch Lake. Panguitch, Utah is a town about 15 minutes from Panguitch Lake, Utah. This place isn't exactly a resort... it has some cabins, tiny store and a restaurant. They also rent fishing boats. This is a great place to get away from the city - I like the fact that there is no cell phone service up here!!! The place is a bit kitchy - but it more than serves it's purpose. This place is great because you can wake up, walk across the street and start fishing. The cabins are stocked with a stove, beds, bunk beds, referigerator,coffee maker, a few dishes... I think you are better off just bringing some tv dinners and quick snacks as opposed to cooking. I would rather spend time fishing than doing dishes! Very friendly service - it feels like you are visiting family there... The restaurant is basic but they make pretty good food there. The fishing can be excellent to straight up crappy! This past weekend made up for every slow fishing day here. We caught rainbows, cuttthroat and a tiger trout ranging from 15-22". Hats off to the Utah division of wildlife for bringing Panguitch back. I have so many great things to say about this place and the people who run it. We went to UT for Father's Day weekend. We were supposed to stay at another RV park but they double booked and we ended up getting screwed and had to find somewhere else to stay. It was the best thing that could have happened to us. If it didn't we wouldn't have found this gem. Nicky, her husband Adrian, Christine and her husband Scott were the absolute best hosts we've ever had anywhere. They were all so nice and helpful and didn't seem bothered by the billion questions we had. We're new to the trailer life and have plenty of learning to do. The site it self was very clean and well taken care of. The fishing was awesome. Well, for our 11 year old anyway. He caught 6 beautiful rainbows. My husband and I only got three between the two of us. lol We rented a pontoon boat for one afternoon and the boat boy was great too. We can't wait to go back again. We loved it so much we booked the whole Father's Day week next year. It's going to be our new tradition trip. read more

This is a rustic resort. Everyone has a piece of Heaven here. Our cabin was neat, clean and comfy. We had a private "backyard" which backed up to the forest with a table and fire ring. It also had great views of the lake at sunset and that means sunset pictures. Stove, fridge, Micro, Coffee Maker, toaster sink and small fan. No air conditioning but heck you're in the mountains and nighttime can get in the low 50's It's basic but functions well. Nicky and Nick we're our contacts and gracious hosts. They have boat rentals, both pontoons and fishing across the street which opens at 7am. Make your reservations at the resort and pic it up across the street at the docks when you are ready. They also have bait and a small store. The Café is located at the office (with great views of the lake from it's outdoor deck, bring your well behaved dog) which is closed on Mon/Tuesday and I think open till 9pm. Although it doesn't have wi-fi through out it has great reception at the office, inside and out. Everyone usually shows up there, they even have 2 picnic tables outdoors to relax and surf the web or order food. It's a non-pretentious resort. It's also a family friendly place and everyone appeared to know each other eventually. It's Mountain Utah chic It's close to Cedar Breaks and other high country sites. In addition to being absolutely stunning geographically, it was equally beautiful in hospitality. Once the world is able to be shut out and one is surrounded by nature they are able to reflect on just how simple and yet important life is. The BearPaw staff made it seem as if I was a part of their cave. The only thing that was better than the food was the fact that I was able to share this  experience with multiple loved ones from different families and different ways of life. The Bear Paw Resort is set up where you can go as a single individual, a couple, a family or even a tribe and they will help you experience Panguitch Lake for a day on the boats, a night at the campsites or even a season just to get away from the world. Being new owners and mostly family run this place made me feel served with love not just in the cafe. The Bear Paw Resort  was also close to many other activities and ways to adventure around the lake which was nice for my little kids so I was able to have options.  Set close enough to the town of Panguitch that I could go shopping and experience a small town hometown feeling yet far enough up in the mountains that I could also see on top of many birds. This was by far one of the best vacation experiences I had ever had.  The Bear Paw Resort  in Panguitch Utah  is now set on our family bucket list as a hopeful spot to have many reunions and get togethers. Thank you very much to The Bear Paw Resort staff and shout out to the intense photography opportunities. Thanks to bad service at the other place we rented a boat we stumbled on Bear Paw Lake View Resort. We called first on the phone and the person we talked to was very nice to us and told us that they maintain their boats. When we went in a few days later the gentleman that helped us was very, very nice. The prices of the boats were very reasonable and they had someone help us get out on the lake and when we came from fishing there was someone there to help us dock the boat unlike the other place we had rented a few days prior. We will go back and rent boats again and try their restaurant. We did buy a few items like ice cream and soda from the little store, daughter swung on the swing and we used the restrooms. There were cabins all around and the place was very clean. We were very happy with everything about Bear Paw and will be back next year. read more

Ive been coming here for 24 years and what a disappointment this trip was. We stayed in Lazy Daze...talk about a dump. I can handle the dumpy part but the SMELL inside was so disguisting. The lady at front desk tried to tell me the toilet needed a new wax ring...THE TOILET WAS SITTING ON A PIECE OF PLYBOARD. They also charged us a $20.00 cleaning fee for our pet who is an emotional support pet...totally illegal. They charge you 1.00 for a cup of coffee plus another buck for a refill. I paid cash for the coffee and wood and thet gave me no receipt.....hmmmmmm. Get your receipt for everything. The only thing nice was the bed was super comfy and the food was pretty good. The server was very sweet but the front desk people were so un professional and rude. I mean pointing in my face, screaming at me rude all because I asked for a receipt for the fire wood and coffees and I never got it because the two of them were so hostile and flat out agressive so i just left without it. They nickel and dime you for every single little tiny thing and they never give you a reciept when using cash. I hope owners are aware of this because I noticed immediately. read more

We rented a pontoon boat to go fishing for a half day. When we got to the boat it was in such bad shape that we weren't sure it would stay floating or run for that matter. For the money they charge this was not what one would expect. All of the metal sides were dented and torn, all of the seats were rotted out as well as torn down to the little left foam, duct tape held some seats together, the anchors were rope tied around cinder blocks, and the boat tilted on one side to name just a few problems. If we had kids with us we would not have put them on this boat. We highly recommend avoiding this place. read more

This is the second time my family and I decided to do Memorial Weekend at Bear Paw Lake. The Owners/Employees are awesome always willing to help and have great service. The Cabins are good, never had no big issue. The beds are probably out dated but are still doable. Overall the Cabins have a Stove, Refrigerator, Pots and Pans, Cups, Plates, Bowls and Fork/Knives. Everything you need to make a meal. The also have a toaster, microwave, Coffee Maker with Coffee for you to make Coffee. Extra Chairs for you to use outside to roast marshmallows etc. Also if you don't feel like cooking they have a good restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and Dinner with nice views of the Lake. I'm always looking forward to a Panguitch trip but only staying at Bear Paw. Keep up the good work guys!!! read more

I was up in Panguitch last weekend (the weekend of the fire catastrophe). I was hesitant coming to Panguitch because I needed reception so I was able to attend my Master's in Education online. I have been stayed at Bear Paw before and knew they had great reception. I arrived at the cafe around 2:00. I ordered coffee and a soda while I studied. There were 3 other people in the cafe during the 2 hours that I was there. I tipped the waitress $5 for my drinks. Nicole was absolutely amazing. I decided to wait for the rest of my party to finish horseback riding and fishing to meet me at the cafe at 5:00 for the prime rib dinner that started right at 5:00. A party of 15 came in to the cafe at 4:00. I offered to move tables to accommodate the large party. They thanked me and said that would not be necessary. There were still 3 tables open. Shortly after, an older man ( I believe the cafe manager) came up to me and said that I had to leave unless I ordered food. Keep in mind even with the party of 15, they still had 3 tables opening and the dinner special not starting for another hour. I told this man that I have a party that was joining me for dinner in an hour. He then changed his demeanor and said he guessed it will be alright if I had people join me @ 5:00, but I was taking up his table. He said he had a shortage of tables due to the Coronavirus. Funny thing is, he nor his waitresses or cooks had any masks on. Way to follow the Coronavirus Rules. I was livid and packed my things up immediately and left after talking to the front desk manager. I have never in my 38 years have been kicked out of a Cafe in the mountains. I was so disappointed in Bear Paw. read more

Three stars because the staff was great and the fishing, across the road, was even better. I understand that it is pretty much a fisherman's retreat but even fishermen need a good night sleep. The beds in our cabin, 2 double/queen and a cot, were ALL really uncomfortable. Like you dread bed time, regardless of how exhausted you are, UNCOMFORTABLE. The kitchen was better, I was able to cook a few meals with the basics that they offer you. The heater in our cabin did NOT work and we were provided with a couple portable radiator type heater. They emitted a little heat a few inches. Eta: We decided to try another stay and while it is still 3 stars I will say that the cabin we chose this time had nicer beds. Still cold, maybe next time we'll bring our own heater. The diner has a decent breakfast at a great price. read more

Not quite sure what to put. I didn't have high expectations of Bear Paw just wanted to get away from work and noise. One of the things I felt was if campers didn't complain it was better for the owners. I let them know of a few things like they told us to to make sure they knew it wasn't us that did any damage. I felt uncomfortable doing that because I had a feeling they didn't want to hear it so didn't tell them of other things that should have Made them aware of. I just wanted to stay our 3 days and go. We had 12 family members staying. I really don't believe the cabins are checked before each party arrives and maybe the bed linen is changed. Ours looked fine but my grandson found a brown spot on his. Instead of telling management, he fixed it on his own. The whole point of going there as I said was for quiet and rest. If I'd have went to them for all complaints we would have spent all our time letting them know about things that weren't up to par. It's almost like we did their jobs for them which should have been done before we got there. I'm not looking for perfect and rustic is understood but if there are things that are offered and aren't working you should get what you pay for. Hey, $110 a night is not a bad price. We were semi-strictly given our expectations while staying there but noticed a woman with 2 dogs, 1 on a leash and the other dog not. They are the only other dogs we saw. We were told, dogs on a leach and clean up the poop. I cleaned my dogs poop up but my grandson stepped in the poop that I'm pretty sure was the white dog of the lady that she didn't pick up the poop because she walked by our cabin and went that way. If the owners read this its only constructive criticism not to bash them. Bottom line is please make sure your cabins are well prepared before your guests arrive unless others don't really care if their toilet isn't working which, I may add that they fixed. Not going to go into detail about the other things just don't have expectations whatever they may be. read more

The Adam's Boys are back! This was my 40th year (no really!) going to BearPaw. Great people! Great fishing! My parents took me and I took my children. My daughters are now grown and they still come. There were 28 of us this year! And we have a reservations for next year. This is a great place to start a family tradition. You can cook or eat in the cafe. Great service ( ask for Alex) and great food. You are close to Cedar Breaks, Bryce, Zion and Brian Head ski resort. Lots of things to do if fishing is not your forte! read more

Adrian at the front desk was awesomely helpful with gear and his (very non British) humour made us feel absolutely comfortable, Tommy and Cayman by the shore went above and beyond the call of duty in assisting me with setting my stuff up and untangling my gadrillion knots. We drove up from the St. George area to escape the heat and view the great scenery at Cedar Breaks and Panguitch Lake. On a whim, we decided to stop at the small diner at Bear Paw Resort. My husband and I both had the lunch special-BBQ chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The food was excellent and was very reasonably priced. The view was great and our waitress, Alex, was such a pleasant young lady. She kept our drinks filled and provided us with nice conversation about the area. This place is a little hidden gem and is exactly what makes us love these little remote areas in beautiful Utah. read more

Working up here again in Cedar City Utah and decided to run over to Panguitch Lake to check it out. Noticed a sign saying Prime Rib Dinner $11.95 Saturday and Sunday 5-9.Went in and tried it out and it was Great. I was actually early and they had to heat up a piece (4;15) it came with home made Mash Potatoes and vegies. I also opted for some dessert House made Banana Cream Pie. Life just doesn't get any better. The place is clean and homey the service Fantastic. I will try and make my way over to The Café every time up here. read more

This place is great! Joe the owner, his cute little family, and his staff (which includes his two brothers) are very accommodating at a more than fair price. The cabins are perfect for a simple nights rest, each cabin has its own camp fire site overlooking the lake. You can catch a killer sunset with a local brewed beer in hand. People pay big money for a fair less experience than what you will get at Bear Paw. This place is a hidden gem that everyone should experience if you're looking for a one of a kind experience in southern Utah. read more

I had a great time at Bear Paw! The weather was beautiful, the lake was like glass, the cabins were clean, the food was stellar and the staff was very friendly. It's perfect for family vacations and fishing getaways. There are boats to rent and extra poles if you forget yours. They even had s'more kits for sale in the lodge. They were very busy when we came up, so you need to make reservations in advance. I'm planning to stay longer next summer for sure! read more

We've been coming here for years & the "rustic" camp setting is what makes it fun. It's no 5 star resort , it's camping. If you get a cabin they're older & really basic but we like being outdoors so we don't spend much time in the cabin anyways. We stayed for one night on our way to Cedar Breaks. The cabin had a smell of propane. There was a partial soap in the bathroom shower with no new guest soap. The beds were very old and the springs were unpleasantly palpable. The premises had a lot of old trailers and rv's with a lot of junk lying around running their generators. A mouse was running around our cabin at night and we found mouse poop behind a cabinet when we looked. Bring your own lighter if you want to use the stove. The guests who spent the night next door had 3 children who were distracted by putting them in the car where they enjoyed honking the horn. This went on till after the quiet hour of 10pm and started up again in the morning. I can't think of any reason to stay there unless you like to fish and raise hell read more

We had our annual family reunion at Bear Paw this year. We had 32 people attend for 4 days. The accommodations were perfect for our needs . It is set in a beautiful and peaceful location and the cabins were clean, comfortable and affordable. What impressed me the most however was the customer service. Matt and his brothers were so nice and attentive. From the beginning Matt was great in helping me get the reunion set up. He was so kind and patient. After we arrived we met the other brothers who were also very friendly and checked in with us daily to make sure our needs were met. Over all a great experience and I hope I have future opportunities to stay at this resort. read more

Yikes! We were so happy to find a place that would take our dog at the end of our week-long trip through Utah. And as the sun set and we drove along the winding road from Panguitch to the lake, I read to my family the lovely resort description emailed to me with our confirmation. After we checked in and we backed our truck up to our cabin, we noticed that the front window was broken (not cracked but 1/3 of the window had once been duct taped and completely fell out of the frame) and the window in the bathroom was broken as well. The water heater was exposed in the bathroom and the floor in the hall puddled with water every time we stepped on it, to the point that we HAD to wear shoes in the cabin or our feet and socks would get sopping wet with questionably moldy water. Gross! (There was even a sign in the bathroom saying "only use towels on your body. If you need rags, ask for them at the front desk." Don't tell me they didn't know about the leak under that cabin!) The dining table had 4 uncomfortable folding chairs, one with a broken faux wood seat. The double beds were terribly uncomfortable. Ours sloped so badly to one side that my husband chose to sleep in the truck since the only way I could stay on it was to sleep at a diagonal. (He slept better than any of us!) The ceiling light over the kids' bed was hanging with frayed wires. The door creaked and sounded like we were in a haunted house. The whole place actually looked like it could have been the site of a horror movie! Fortunately we had our senses of humor and my kids made a funny video about mom's worst vacation plan ever! And we did have a lovely time hanging out on the picnic table in front of the cabin watching shooting starts in the big Utah skies. The staff was very kind in letting us out of our commitment to a second night. We had hoped to hang out during the day and enjoy a boat on the lake, but the boats were much like the cabin, with foam coming out of the seating and trash in the hulls. The beach was rocky and not inviting. SO disappointing! We camp. We didn't expect a 5 star resort. But we definitely expected something comfortable and habitable. read more
