This was such a solid steak sandwich! As a steak lover, I loved the simplicity of this sandwich because you could really just enjoy the meat. The original steak comes with a good amount of chimichurri sauce and a generous serving of steak and is served on a fluffy bread. While the sauce was too salty for my taste, it complemented the meat and bread nicely. The fries are delicious as well - a perfect balance between crispy and fluffy, which I like. Again, a little too salty, but I had no problem finishing them. The place itself is very small and only has tables outside. Since it was cold, we sat inside on a little bench-like ledge that they have, and the employees kindly let us stay and eat there for as long as we'd like. Honestly, I'd be back. The original steak is the perfect quick lunch to grab while walking around College St, and if you're not too hungry, it's a great meal to split with a friend.

Amazing steak sandwich. It's the only thing you need to get on the menu. The fluffy bread, the tender steak, and that savoury sauce - chef kiss! We tried the pork one and although it was good, the steak was better. No tables, only take out which makes it hard to enjoy fresh. I do feel it's on the pricier side of a sandwich. Not a daily ordeal, better for a treat.

I've been yearning to try out this place and I finally did. Got the original steak sandwich because that's what they're known for. The beef was tender -- cooked to a medium (how I like it) and the bun was toasted but soft (it won't scrape the roof of your mouth). Overall a good sandwich, try it out and see if you like it!

Honestly don't really get the hype around this place - I thought it was just okay. The sandwich itself was a lot smaller than I thought and there wasn't much steak in it. I thought the steak tasted good, but the roast pork was not good at all in my opinion - we couldn't even finish it. Overall, not worth it

I've had their steak sandwich before, and when I heard BEAR added a cheeseburger and golden fries to the menu, I knew I had to check it out. The shop itself is small, with only a bench outside if you want to sit and enjoy your food on the spot, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the most popular spots in the city. They have a simple menu featuring just a few items, and the staff are a friendly bunch! There usually not a huge line as they have online orders and also once you are paid, you will be waiting outside the shop and the food will be brought out to you with a smile! The cheeseburger was incredible. The medium-rare chuck patty was so juicy and thick, packed with flavour in every bite. I'm not usually a fan of fries, but their golden fries? Crispy and fried in beef fat--they were so good I couldn't stop eating them! I even grabbed an extra burger to bring home to my mom, and she loved it just as much as I did. She kept raving about how juicy the burger was and how thick the patty tasted. After trying both the steak sandwich and now the cheeseburger, BEAR has officially won me over. If you haven't tried their new cheeseburger, you're missing out!

Amazing steak sandwich in the city at BEAR Steak Sandwiches! The meat was SO juicy good. The bun was soft on the inside and lightly crisp on the outside. The flank steak is sous vide for 2 hours and grill to medium-rare perfection, comes with a housemade chimichurri (a tad spicy!), and sandwich between a pillowy papo seco a aka traditional Portuguese roll from Golden Wheat Bakery down the street.

Tried the original steak sandwich which was pretty solid with a soft and slightly crusty Portuguese roll, tender medium fank steak and chimichurri sauce. The sandwich ate well but I did find it to be overly salty for my taste.

I was having dinner and my friends mentioned this place. Just a sandwich is all this place is about like the move "The Bear" which I love. So with their reviews - off I went. I thought the original steak sandwich was delicious! I inhaled it. I shouldn't have done that. Take my advice, eat and savour your bites. It's worth it. Flavourful chimichurri and medium rare beef On my next trip, I'll try their other option - roast pork. Uber friendly customer service here! Can't say enough how friendly they are! Definitely, happy to have tried it!

Love how they put the chimichurri on the side

**This review was originally written in Jan of 2024 and I totally forgot to post it** Yes .. YEs . YES!!! I love coming to Canada to eat and a trip to Bear Steak Sandwiches did not disappoint!! My husband and son heard about Bear Steak and I knew we had to have it. The store itself is super small so we ended up eating in the car. We enjoyed our sandwiches so much, we all went back for more!! My husband and I thought the fries were alright, my son wanted to try fries that were fried in tallow and he enjoyed it. Wishing Bear Steak Sandwiches continued success!!

I've been waiting to try this spot out. They offer 3 sandwiches. Really small menu, like three things and some desserts. It tasted great, the steak was good, bun was good, chimichurri good - but I think it is overpriced! Almost $20 for a sandwich. The portion is good for one but I think you'll still be hungry after kind of situation. It was nice to try for the one time but not sure how often I'd want to get it again. Small little pick up store, a bench outside, nice workers.

Had to come here after seeing some of the gram pics. Medium rare beef, lots and lots of beef. This is a small shop for pickup only and it will take approx 10 minutes for your sandwich to be ready. There are only two options on their menu, so you know they've perfected the two items. Roast beef sandwich - I was looking for a good sandwich shop since clubhouse closed down and I think this is the one! The beef was so juicy, so tender. The bread was fresh and fluffy. The sauce like a chimichuri oil, it was great/perfect pairing. Would recommend and already craving another one.

We were actually on the way to a different restaurant when I casually mentioned that I was in the mood for a really good sandwich. And so it was that we veered away from our original plan and made a beeline to Bear Steak Sandwiches. I'd heard a lot of positive things about their food, so I was more than happy to head on over. I knew going in that I obviously had to get their Original Steak Sandwich ("Flank Steak, Housemade Chimichurri, Papo Seco"). It was ready about 10 minutes later, so we headed back to the car to chow down. This is one incredible sandwich. The flank steak is super tender and super tasty, while that housemade chimichurri is just bonkers in terms of flavor. (In fact, I bought a whole jar to take home.) The whole thing is tied together beautifully with that soft Portuguese roll. I can't imagine ever eating a better steak sandwich. This is as good as it gets.

I don't understand the hype with this place and I can't accept that you are charging 20 dollars for one sandwich you can get a 12 inch for less than that at subway. I ordered the original steak with flank steak, house made chimichurri, papo seco, the bread was crunchy and the sandwich had heat in it, but I can't fathom paying 20 bucks for this. The steak was okay, bread was crunchy, and chimchurri sauce was nice and sandwich came pretty quick. I wish they gave more meat or made the sandwich bigger, I can't see people buying this sandwich for 20 bucks it doesn't make sense to me at all.

The steak is not very good, chewy but it lacks flavour and really cannot be digested well.

Return I did on a recent Saturday and we showed up just as they were opening up for the day, which meant we were able to snag one of the two outdoor tables available. It's a small menu, so ordering the Pastrami sandwich was a no-brainer. We also grabbed a small order of the Coleslaw to try. The food was ready to go within minutes. It's a great sandwich. The meat is super tender and perfectly complemented by the fresh bread and tasty mustard. Do I wish the spicing on the meat were a little more prominent? Yes, definitely, but it didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the 'wich. The coleslaw is great, too. I'll surely be returning very soon.

It's a take out deli sandwich shop focusing on quality ingredients with a multitude of sides you can choose from. Other than their sandwiches, you can also purchase deli items like pastrami spice, beef salami, or half sour pickles. I've been waiting for Linny's Luncheonette to open since last year! When I dined at Linny's in Dec 2024, the waiters had hinted that there would be sandwich shop next door. I arrived at Linny's Luncheonette around 11:30am on their opening day (May 9th). The place was busy with customers coming in, however, the service was fast and efficient as chef David Schwartz stood by to make sure everything was running smoothy on the first day. In terms of the decor, think deli retro vibes! The interior is cute with bright orange countertops and a mirror on one side of place to make the space appear bigger. There are a variety of random candies and chips on display you can also purchase. The menu consists of sandwiches - pastrami, potato and pickle and smoked fish, as well as sides (knish, coleslaw, potato salad, karnatzel, cookie). I ordered a pastrami sandwich and a small side of potato salad. My order was made at a reasonable time (less than 5 min) and service was friendly. There isn't any seating inside the restaurant but there are a few chairs outside and 2 small tables. The great thing is that Linny's Luncheonette is located along Ossington so it isn't hard to find a table close by the place. I decided to head to the park to eat my sandwich. Foodwise...the pastrami sandwich was deliciously amazing. I loved the pastrami at Linny's so I knew that Linny's Luncheonette would be the same. The pastrami had the perfect meat to fat ratio...which made it oh so tender and juicy! I am not a huge fan of pastrami to begin with but...I would come back for this sandwich again and again again. Anyways...back to sandwich, the bread held the meat together well where there was a hint of mustard spread as you took each bite. I got sad when I reached my last bite. The potato salad was also great, not too creamy with sizeable chunks of potato. Overall, a great new addition to the Ossington strip! The pastrami sandwich is a must get here!! Can't wait to return for more in the future! (tip - go early as they can sell out)

All the sandwiches sound delicious! Hard to choose! I went with the Alla Romana $16 (Prosciutto from Abruzzo Italy, Semi-dried cherry tomatoes, Balsamic glaze, Fior di Latte). The bread was crusty & warm - all quality ingredients!! The prosciutto & other topping were plentiful. Great flavours. Fresh! You can tell it was made with care. I was surprised at how big the sandwich was. It was cut in two & placed in a take away container which travelled well. The sandwich was still intact and perfect when I got home. The bread has a good crust but was soft inside to be a good compliment for the filling! I did get a piece of tiramisu & a small single serve cup of gelato from the fridge/freezer to be tried later!! And it pains me to write this review about the bad quality of their entrees. I've been to Naomi twice. The first time I bought the Salmon bibimbap and the second time I bought the Chicken teriyaki. The pictures looked really really good so I opted for them, but both dishes were disgusting. I was really thrown off by how quickly they were able to prepare both dishes. Under 5 minutes?!?! It seemed almost too good to be true. When I opened the container and took the first bite of the meat, I fully understood why. Naomi uses canned meats. For some people, this is okay, but I really could not stand how "plastic" the chicken felt. The meats weren't even seasoned, rather covered in mediocre sauces. The teriyaki sauce wasn't even teriyaki sauce... it was a transluscent orange with a syrupy consistency. The bibimbap was also poorly done. There was no sunny side up egg, and the only veggies consisted of bland bean sprouts, overcooked carrots, and boiled spinach. Although, the "gochujang" sauce was not bad. However, my friends have all claimed that Naomi's sandwiches are extremely tasty, but after my two bad experiences, I'm probably not going to come back. TLDR: don't get any entrees. Stick with the cafe classics.
