Couldn't say how many of these sandwiches I've had over the years. They are always huge and quite a big meal. Noticed prices have risen since I was last there, but haven't prices gone up everywhere? They now charge for some toppings that used to be free. Service is always friendly and quite fast for what they are making. This location has no ambiance, but it's a sandwich shop not a "restaurant" they do have some tables for eating in but I think the majority of customers are grabbing a quick meal to eat and get back to work. My friend is a big fan of California Sandwiches, so I decided to give it a try. I went with the chicken sandwich and asked for double sauce. First off, the sandwich was huge, definitely a great portion for the price. The chicken cutlet was tender and flavourful, and I was impressed to find three layers of chicken for just $15.81. The sandwich was good overall, but I felt it could have used a bit more sauce since there wasn't as much as I expected. Next time, I'll probably ask for the tomato sauce on the side. I've only tried the chicken sandwich so far, but I'm definitely going to try other options in the future. I hadn't had California Sandwiches in ages, mostly because I remembered not being too impressed. So when the opportunity arose to try one of their concoctions, I jumped at the chance. I wound up getting the Veal Sandwich and I got that topped with Jalapeno Peppers. We were eating the food at home, so we got their tomato sauce on the side. First of all, I was pretty shocked at just how big a sandwich I received. It's enormous! I could've easily shared it with someone, but of course I ate the whole thing. It's delicious. The super tender veal is just so good on its own, but it's taken over the top with the addition of the flavorful jalapenos, the fresh, soft bread, and that addictive tomato sauce. A whopping $16 dollars with only one additional topping. Coming in there are few tables but it is clear that the establishment is based on pickup rather then seat and dine. You place your order on the counter and get a number - once it's read (very fast) you eat. I ordered a breaded chicken sandwich, this comes in a huge bun with house sauce and then you can add toppings like jalapeños, onion sweet peppers cheese etc. you get a huge sandwich with three big pieces of chicken and very large portions of toppings yes (!) it's a messy eat - but that is the best part In sandwiches ... Ordered a veal sandwich over the phone and when I went to pick up to dine in at my house, after finishing half the sandwich I don't know what was going on with my stomach, I didn't have anything all day till lunch time. Large balls of meat the size of your fist and a kaiser bun as big as a bowling ball, all drowning in tomato sauce.
