I went to 6 different lock and key stores to get a copy of a key for the doors on the outside of my RV. Not one place had ever seen that key and did not have a blank. Then I went to Bear Valley Lock and Key. At first, Julie was puzzled, but she went to the trouble to look it up on her computer. There was a number MK9901 stamped on the key I brought in, and it turns out it's a Master key and easily available on amazon for cheap. I ordered 5 of them for under $10 total, and they work great and are already pre-cut. Thanks, Julie, for sending me in the right direction, even though it didn't result in any profit for you. When I need a "normal" key, Bear Valley is where I'll go first. read more

i have nothing but good things to say about this little gem of a local business. I found myself locked out of my Yakima Cross Bars that were mounted to my roof rack. After speaking to Yakima, I learned that I would have to get a locksmith to pick the lock (local estimates ranged from 60-85 bucks or more), order a control key from Yakima once the lock was picked in order to view the serial number on the lock core, and finally order the actual key from them that matched the serial number. The total cost probably would have been $100-120, two weeks of waiting on ordered keys, and lots of hassle. Whew. I stopped in at BVL&K on a whim and just asked if they would pick the lock. He did that within 10 minutes and charged me 10 bucks. When I explained the entire situation to him, he offered to remove the core and re-key the whole thing for an additional 15 dollars. I was, needless to say, ecstatic. He completed the whole process within 30 minutes and I was a mere 25 dollars poorer. I could not have been happier with his efficiency, courtesy, and the fact that he didn't rip me off, when he could have easily done so! While I was there, I had a few key copies made, which I had been meaning to do. It cost about $1.50 more than Home Depot but I was more than happy to support this family-owned small business. HORRIBLE SERVICE EVER!!! Called for service at 3:13 pm, it's now 8:39 pm. and NOBODY HAS SHOWN UP YET. Kept getting the run around from them that there was a lot of traffic it would be 3 hours before they got to my home ( I call BS because I live right off the 330 and 18 highway and there is NO traffic at all), so that would make their ETA 6:30pm..Right?? Next call was now 4 hours before they got to my home, kept asking if they could come tomorrow instead, my answer was NO, my father in law just passed away and we had to pick family members up at the airport. Sounds like a bunch of lazy employee's to me. I've already filed a complaint with AAA, BBB will be contacted on Monday. I DO NOT RECOMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL. read more
