We previously used Hinds when we replaced the AC 15 years ago and were extremely happy with the service then and over the years for annual maintenance and when service has been required. Hinds quoted us the option to fix the unit and various options to replace the full unit. After speaking with the owner, we decided upon one of the options that best suited our needs. The owner did not try to push any certain option and truly promoted the option that was best and most economical for us. Not only that, they were able to get the machine in and install it in just two days! This is the same great experience we had 15 years ago! Happy to say we now have cold air pumping in our home! My grievance with OEL is with their unlicensed technicians and their refusal to take responsibility for their errors. OEL failed to properly inspect my AC drain lines which prolonged my AC problems for 3 and a half years. OEL's carelessness has led to other issues resulting in unnecessary restoration work. I have also come to question OEL's professionalism and work at the conclusion of this experience for two reasons: their defensive behavior and their lack of explanation for the physically damaged AC hard copper drain line they didn't discover. Who broke the AC drain line in the attic since OEl were the only ones who accessed my attic until the leak was discovered by another plumber on May 3, 2021 who had taken these attached photos? My AC issue with OEL could have been resolved earlier if they had a licensed technician inspect my AC drain lines in the attic when I first had an issue with my AC. This AC issue carried on for 3.5 years attributed to a clogged drain line starting on October 6, 2017. OEL technicians responded to my many service calls to fix the problem only to respond with the same remedy of unclogging and treating the drain line instead of taking the time to find the root cause of the clogging issue in the drain lines. AC Drain Line Installation - 2017/07/22 The issue with my AC drain lines dates back to a water leak I had on the first floor in a storage area beneath the stairs. This problem was resolved by installing the AC hard copper drain lines in the attic directly above the AC unit in the closet on the second floor. OEL installed the AC hard copper drain lines and completed the work with a final inspection on July 22, 2017. Initial AC Problems two months later - 2017/10/06 Second AC Problem 10 months later - 2018/08/07 Third AC Problem 3 days later - 2018/08/10 Fourth AC Problem up to one year later - 2019/08/06 Fifth AC Problem 6 months later - 2020/02/05 Sixth AC Problem 12 months later - 2021/03/28 OEL Service Call Next Day - 2021/03/29 I asked and insisted that Wyatt, the OEL's technician, check the AC copper drain lines in the attic. Wyatt disregarded and refused to climb into the attic to inspect the AC drain lines insisting that the leak wasn't from the AC. Wyatt documented "Completed service system call. Client stated water leaking around light beneath 2 upstairs restrooms. Did not find anything dysfunctional with AC unit." on the invoice receipt. The following morning, March 30, I called OEL requesting Wyatt G. to inspect the AC drain line. I once again asked him to inspect the drain line in the attic and he refused. Wyatt expressed frustration because he didn't feel his visit was necessary. Broken AC drain line discovery - 2021/05/03 On May 3, 2021 I contacted a plumber, Mike of Tampa Bay Plumbers, to find the source of the water leak. Mike confirmed that the leak did not come from the plumbing lines. He asked to access the attic and found a cracked copper drain line installed by OEL. I then called OEL to fix the copper drain line they installed and refused to inspect in the attic. Chad S. and Wyatt arrived to service my call at 11:30am. OEL documented the following statement, "Found crack in condensate line that appeared to have been stepped on and cracked on trist. Repaired line with 3/8 hose and hose clamps. Removed wet insulation. Purged line with 2 gallons of water. Found no other cracks." Signed by Wyatt. Chad S. completed the job by repairing the line with clamps and final checks two weeks later on May 17th. He confirmed there weren't any water leaks. Chad refused to admit all 12 yellow receipts were drain line related work since 7/22/2017-05/03/2021. OEL's defensive behavior adds to my suspicion of the physically damaged AC hard copper drain line in the attic. I've used Creel Air Conditioning multiple times over the years, but after two extremely…read moredisappointing and costly experiences, I can no longer recommend them. A few years ago, they came to inspect my home unit and told me it needed to be completely replaced. Thankfully, my brother (an HVAC professional from out of state) happened to visit that week, took a look, and had it running again within an hour. That unit is still functioning over seven years later. After that, I stopped using Creel. Recently, I decided to give them one more chance when I noticed a drip coming from a ceiling AC vent at one of my rental properties. A Creel technician came out and said the issue was torn tape on a return duct. He resealed it with mastic and tape. The next day, the drip continued. He came out again and applied even more mastic throughout the vent area. The leak didn't stop. Ultimately, a plumber discovered the true issue: a small leak in a water pipe, which was fixed within minutes. However, after Creel's second visit, the AC system, which had been working fine--began leaking from the emergency line. I contacted Creel and spoke to the tech who tried to convince me this "leaking" was exactly how the system was designed to work. After this conversation, I contacted another HVAC company and discovered that the condensate lines were COMPLETELY clogged with mastic, which had been carelessly applied by the Creel technician. To be clear: there was never an AC issue to begin with. But Creel's inability to correctly diagnose the problem not only failed to fix the real issue, it created a serious one, costing me hundreds of dollars in additional repairs and property damage. Creel did refund me the initial service fee after I sent photos and videos--but they sent the refund in the wrong company name. When I tried to contact them about this, they stopped responding to my calls, texts, and messages. Fortunately, my bank was able to deposit the check after verifying the details. I want to note that Angelina in the front office was helpful at first, but once problems arose, her tone shifted significantly and she was very rude and flat out refused to allow me to speak with the owner Gene. In my experience, if Creel can't find the real issue, they'll invent one--and it may result in unnecessary and expensive work. This is not just a mistake; it's a pattern. I've now given this company multiple chances, and their errors have cost me hundreds of dollars and stress. Thank God I had video & pictures bc they were not going to work with me at all on this. I got burned bc of all the additional costs created by Creel but at least I got back what I paid them. Beware before calling them. They may very well "find" a problem--and it might be your entire unit.
