[[HIGHLIGHT]]After listening to my extensive list of "this and thats" we settled on Monday noonish.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On Monday he called at 10:30 and said he was available early if that was ok. Again, pleasant and professional. I had a long list: put up an outside flag pole; take curtain rods down in three rooms; take vertical blinds down and install a curtain rod and curtains over a patio door; install Kohler Hytense toilet seats and bidets on two toilets; put a king headboard and foot board together; and some other miscellaneous stuff. He was finished in just over two hours. Moses was professional, courteous, no nonsense and clean throughout. No trash left behind. PLUS, he put up with nosy cat who frequently got in the way. I agree with other reviewers for Bearded Hammer. He's personable and communicative and experienced and was able to come over quickly (same day or the next day) to check out my sink garbage disposal and replace it, and he beat 2 other Yelp 5 star companies' quotes SIGNIFICANTLY, so he's definitely more affordable, especially during the highest inflation I think since President Carter was in office, and for someone on a lower income. In Nampa he quoted me $150 less than one company and $220-270 LESS THAN ANOTHER! For a job that only takes about an hour or a bit more, and is a basic job for an experienced handyperson or plumber, THAT'S SIGNIFICANT. As it is, $120ish hourly labor charges is expensive for most (who usually aren't making anything near that, but who also don't have to pay for all their own overhead and taxes and insurance as business-owners or self-employed folks do), but for a professional who has lots of experience and is so competent, it's clearly competitive pricing. Excessive pricing for basic jobs (by other plumbers, handy people, etc.) has become the norm in our area and it's ridiculous when basic jobs are probably (or should be) any contractor or repair person's bread and butter and are actually essential to life as we know it in some cases, not the potentially lucrative "upgrade" jobs that many of us can't afford and most don't really need. I'm sure the job will need no attention for years to come and I'm thankful that one thing in my house should be set for a while lol, and I wish he were available in Eastern Idaho for some things that need done at a relative's home. Regardless, he'll be at the top of my list for other things I'll inevitably need repaired or replaced at my house. read more

The Bearded Hammer is the most honest and helpful plumber I never met face-to-face. I was experiencing lots of problems with a DIY smart toilet installation. It came with non-US standard parts and it leaked from the fittings after the water was on. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He coached me over the phone and I was able to locate the needed parts to stop the leaks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then, after the toilet stopped leaking from its connections, the smart toilet would not flush, it just lazily swirled the bowl contents. Again he gave me more advice to try to fix it. At the same time, I was dealing over internet chat with the manufacturer in China. Each exchange was a 12 hour delay. After six exchanges they concluded that a solenoid in the toilet was defective and would send me a replacement. 5 days without a flushing toilet was enough. I returned it for a refund and bought a more reliable tank toilet which doesn't need electricity to work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a scheduled appointment with the Bearded Hammer to help me with the dysfunctional smart toilet but he did not mind when I cancelled his service appointment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Bearded Hammer was most polite on our phone conversations and spent a lot time helping me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Please consider him when you need a plumber. Matthew (Moses) was very responsive to our request for service through Yelp where others don't bother to reply. We set up a timely appointment and he did the work that day. With one task, installing motorized Sun Setter Shades off a patio soffit, we weren't able to do. Fortunately before starting the install, Moses thoroughly looked at the product and let us know the install would not work where we wanted it because the shades had side anchors that need to roll against a wall. We appreciated his thoroughness and honesty and decided to return the shades (thank goodness for Costco liberal return policy!). We're now looking at other options to hang outdoor drapes to keep heat out. Moses did the other task (installing heavy wrought iron corbels) on our kitchen island flawlessly.
