Came here with my gf and daughter. There is a chef here that makes all his homemade creations. Overall, pretty good! - my roasted chicken pot pie was good. Thin pastry crust on top. The large is just the right amount and I was satisfied! - gf and daughter ordered shepherds pie. Very good and filling - daughter and I ordered the butternut squash soup...tasted like apple pie filling. The consistency was a little baby-foodish for our liking but we prefer a creamier version. Tasty nonetheless. Service was very personalized and she promoted all the dishes well. We loved the records on the wall, bit a little too much clutter. Its not great to have stuffed animal dust collectors which leave you with a feeling of wondering how often they're cleaned. I'd come again to try other food and desserts. I went here a while back, and have just recently found the time to do some reviews. This was a little gem, and I lived very close so it was a convenient place to go to when I did not feel like cooking (which happens a lot). The food is exactly what you would expect from a little diner. This diner features deliciously prepared food, which show the care and the heart put into it, and a taste that reminds you of grandma's recipes. The pies are the highlight, one simply cannot leave here without sampling one of their plentiful and delicious options. The prices are very reasonable and the service is welcoming and friendly. The decorations of this diner are a bit homey, which keeps one occupied with something to look at while waiting for the delicious home cooked style food to arrive. My boyfriend and I come to Kimberly religiously for breakfast while on vacation at Wasa Lake. We normally go to BJ's creek side pub but after some lackluster service we decided to o on Yelp and try something new. We saw the great reviews and headed to Bear's. Right away we were greeted by JJ, wonderful lady who was just a ray of sunshine and co-owns the restaurant with her husband Bear who cooks all of the homemade food. I always have breakfast while in Kimberly but after telling us the homemade pies that were made that day I went for the shepherds pie and Aaron went for the quesadilla and we shared a side of turkey vegetable soup. My God! The food was beyond amazing! We felt right at home and the atmosphere mixed with the excellent food was just unbelievable. We are very sad that we leave the next day and do not get to go to this wonderful establishment again until next summer. Great hearty food, lovely and helpful service, and a comfortable atmosphere make Bear's a special place in Kimberley. The menu offers a wide variety of food, including breakfast until 4pm and desserts, alongside classic soups, sandwiches, salads, and burgers. My husband ordered both of the daily specials (Ruben sandwich and Smoky the Bear dog) and loved both (and took half of both home). My egg salad sandwich was light and fluffy, with a generous (almost excessive) amount of filling. Im glad I only ordered the half! I had a glass of Pinot Grigio that I found to be too sweet, but it was the only white wine by the glass. Definitely accommodates a wide range of customers, from older regulars enjoying their coffee and newspaper to young families wrangling kids (3/4 page kids menu and plenty of distractions). Ordered a large chicken pot pie $13.50+ tax we got this. Its 6 inchs long by 3 inches wide. Its very flat and very unappetizing. A big disappointment. Dont recommend this restaurant. So I measured out how much food we got. It works out to 1 cup of chicken pot pie for $13.50+ tax. This restaurant also does not have an online menu. I called and they said they would email me one. I was looking forward to having a tasty home cooked meal at Bear's Eatery. My partner and I went a few years back and found it was ok. I've read many positive reviews since then and felt it was worth a visit. Before dinner arrived we could hear the microwave going off in the kitchen (pretty distinct sound in a restaurant where we were the only partons on a Saturday night). My partner ordered the special, a half rack of ribs with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The half rack included a paltry, four over done ribs with cubed peas and carrots. While the meal was mediocre, what sealed the deal and pushed this meal into the truly astounding was the 23$ price tag. Don't get me wrong 23$ is not a bad price for ribs but in this case, wow, just wow! My three cheese Mac and cheese was no better, microwaved then finished in the oven, the dish wasn't completely warm and so the orange cheese in the middle was still hard and definitely not melted. Plain macaroni noodles with some ricotta throughout, not the creamy sauce I was expecting. Also very bland flavor, an excess of salt and hot sauce couldn't make this wreck palatable. I will say that the chicken dollars were quite nice and the server was pleasant and attentive but all in all we were very disappointed in this experience. I understand that this restaurant is popular for breakfast but this meal will be my last I will not be giving this local eatery another chance! read more

We're really glad we listened to the reviews on Yelp and visited Bear's Eatery for brunch. The inside is quaint and so homey and the staff was absolutely lovely. We felt so welcomed and it was a very kid friendly place for our three year old. They have a corner with kids toys and colouring books, plus he loved the stuffed bears. My husband had the all day breakfast and I had the chicken pot pie and it was so delicious. For dessert we all split a blueberry pie that included whipped cream and ice cream. We had happy taste buds! I loved all of the old records on the walls, which get switched out from time to time. I cannot wait to come back to Kimberley and eat at Bear's Eatery again. read more

OOOOOHHHHH MAN, you GOTTA bring that grumbling belly of yours to Bears Eatery. It'll certainly concur any hangry feelings as soon as you walk in the door and JJ greats you. Her wide smile and outgoing attitude brings that home made feeling right to your cockles. Just crushed the large steak & mushroom pie, have sampled the chicken one and pizza and all were outstanding. 90% of the food is home made by Bear the owner and JJ's main squeeze and the fresh pastry and stews are so well seasoned nothing needs to be added and I'm usually a put salt and pepper on every kind of guy. This place is just off the main drag across from overwaitea where you'll see 2 large stuffed bears right out front. Decor is stuffed bears and vinyl records on the walls that are rotated so every time you come through there's a new visual experience. The kids can paint rocks that JJ will put outside the building for all to see. They'll get bear poo for desert and a special prize. A must see and taste!!! read more

Wow what a great chicken pot pie, we were with a group skiing in Kimberley and Ferney. We happened on Bears place by accident but what a great surprise. The Bear and his wife are doing what they love which is cooking good home style food. This will be a regular stop when in Kimberley. read more

I have been extremely disappointed and offended by bjs. I have tried to eat there about 10 times and everytime I was served raw food. When I ask to give me cooked food I get attitude. So today I gave them one more chance and ordered. I was very specific that I don't want raw food. This was a pick up order. I got home opened my food to find it was so over cooked it had shriveled up and they didn't give Me my side. So I called to tell them what had happened and they told me to NEVER Come back and refused to refund my money. I am so offended. Do NOT SUPPORT THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!! This place might have been good at one time but I have givin them many many chances and It's just been a waste of money and a stomach ache from all the raw food. read more
