Came to the Heid Out for dinner on a Friday night while I was passing through Cranbrook. What a lovely place! They brew their own beer and there's a great selection. I chose a lighter beer that the server recommended. It tasted crisp, refreshing and delicious. Wasn't as impressed with the Tuna Poke Bowl though. It was ate really mushy. The rice noodles were overcooked and there was very little tuna pieces. It was missing some spice...wasabi. I would give it a three star at best. Service was great and the view was beautiful...I could see the mountains from my table. I may give this place another try when I'm passing through again. Gave it four stars due to the great service and ambiance.

Overview: We came here on a week night and were surprised to see a live band playing in the restaurant! The atmosphere was lively, the waitresses and waiters were helpful, and the drinks were great. We would definitely come back again. Food: 1. Fish and Chips: The dish was well cooked and had great flavours. The fish was crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. Would recommend. 2. Veggie Burger: The beets and sauce inside the burger really gave it a nice flavour. Would recommend. 3. AAA Alberta Beef Melt: The beef slices were very tender and melted in my mouth. The au jus was well seasoned and tasted great with the sandwich. Would highly recommend. 4. Cod Tacos: The fish was well cooked, but lacked some flavour and tasted bland. 5. Heid Out Burger: The BBQ sauce had a nice flavour, but the beef patty itself was a little under seasoned. 6. Char Siu Beef Wrap: The portion size was good and the enoki mushroom had a great favour. The beef however, lacked some flavour and tasted bland. 7. Spicy Pickle Sticks: Well seasoned and the pickles were still crispy. Paired well with the cider. Drink: 1. Red roof cider: This was probably one of the best cider I've tasted. It was a little on the sweet side, but I would still recommend it. 2. Flight of Beer: A great way to taste some of the restaurant's beers. Atmosphere: Lively and a good spot to relax after a long day of work. Service: The staff were very friendly and the food came fast.

It's well worth the drive with plenty of parking on the street and close by. It's not a quiet place, being a pub, but doubly so when the Jays are playing the Yankees in the ALDS up two nothing and 12 runs having been scored in the first four innings. If you're looking for peace and quiet go elsewhere. It's an interesting place, with plenty of charisma. The staff writer as great, helpful and accommodating of perhaps a little prone to tending the tables instead of us at the bar. That said we didn't feel neglected at all even though we were left pretty much alone after our food was dropped. My chicken souvlaki was quite good, with big chunks of chicken breast that was very nicely cooked, not dry at all, not easy to accomplish. The potato and rice pilaf was also very good, as was the tzatziki and the pita. Solid meal! The lovely K had the Veggie Alfredo with Caesar salad and garlic bread which was plentiful, piping hot and tasty. The salad we shared was shaved romaine with diced red onion, dill and apple cider vinaigrette. It didn't sound good to me, but we ordered it anyway, and it was really good. Would we go back, hell ya!!

I did not get a chance to try the food, I guess the kitchen is small and it doesn't handle large crowds or late night very well. I saw people eat things that looked great, they have this giant sausage in a pita thing that seemed to be a hit. Great On Tap beer selection, above average mix drinks, just stay away from the one that's a mix of Cherry Rum and Cider...spoiler alert: it tastes like cough syrup! Anyway, the bar staff are wicked fun and CAN handle larger groups with relative speed. The first night I was there I was with a 20+ person bachelor party and somehow it worked out: getting separate bills, waitress dodging some scuzzy dude comments from rando-bro's and just with overall great attitude. Well done! The second night I was there, a band was playing and it was mayhem! Someone the staff managed to hold it all together. I'm totally into this place and plan on going every time I'm in Fernie!

The service was one of the best ones I have had in a bit but not too special and all the staff were very friendly and nice. We sat inside but they have an outside area too, they have high tops and booths inside and they have big areas for big families and that stuff like that, the whole look at it is pretty bra look which I like but one bad thing about this is the male bathrooms I don't know about the women's but the boys one is pretty bad the urinals are small and there's no dividers and is not very private at all and one of the sinks didn't work there too. But over all it was good and will come back next time I'm in Fernie.
