Catfish dinner & Pork Chop Dinner

Valentine's Day was a fantastic experience and a time was had! Here at Bea's Kitchen & Kocktails black owned, definitely had to show some love for Black History Month. The decorations displayed for Valentines at Bea's Kitchen & Kocktails were too cute. The decorations added such a lovely touch. The music was perfect. The DJ understood the assignment and the mood just right! Perfect tunes from the time reservations @530pm with 90mins max at a table till we left. Ordered the catfish dinner with red beans and rice along with the Mac and cheese and the second entree were the grilled pork chops dinner with cabbage and Mac and cheese. Everything tasted as good as the neat presentation. The food was very scrumptious! The chops were mouth-watering a must TRY! All the ingredients were fresh and everything was HOTT! And a cheese cake also came with the speciality dinner. No complaints there. Didn't take long for our meal to be prepared. Our waitress named was Jay. She was so sweet and attentive. And thoroughly knew the menu. Even took a pic of my family for me. The atmosphere was so inviting with such kindness from the staff. Glad we celebrated here at Bea's Kitchen & Kocktails! . Highly recommended! Check em out!

This is a cute little spot in Richton Park located off of I-57 expressway. It is in a strip mall. I have visited twice. Once on a Saturday and once on a Sunday for the Brunch and unlimited mimosas. Bea's opens at 11:00. On both instances, we arrived at 12:00. Both visits, it was freezing inside at that time. The heat must get turned off overnight, and they do not have the heat turned on early enough to prepare for customers' arrivals. It was so cold that I kept my gloves on until my food arrived and kept my winter parka on the entire time, even while eating! The decor is simple but cute. It is a small place but has a bar, booth seating, and table seating. They also have a DJ spinning popular R&B music on both Saturdays and Sundays. The waitress was friendly. She told us about other weekly events, such as Drunk BINGO and Comedy Night. We ordered the unlimited mimosas on my Sunday brunch outing. While I noticed our water was served in plastic cups, I didn't expect the mimosas to be in plastic. Let me also add that the food was also served on plastic plates with plastic forks for the brunch, too. For the pricing, glassware and silverware should be considered. All of this being said, I must say that the food was scrumptious and well seasoned. For the lunch outing, we had Salmon Croquettes and the Catfish & Grits. Both were delicious! I even ordered an additional piece of fish because it was so good! On the Brunch outing, I ate everything! Fried chicken, catfish, waffles, eggs, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and more. All was so well-seasoned! It's small, so don't expect ample seating. But, if they turn the heat on and serve food in glassware/silverware, this place would have far greater accolades.

It's a vibe! From the food to the service, this place is definitely a hidden gem! Took my Dallas Sista here and fell in love with the delicious waffles and the scrumptious and savory lobster and grits!! Will, our bartender and waiter, suggested that we try out the lamb chops as well. They were off the chain, too: cooked to fall off the bone perfection! We washed all of this goodness down with some strong-handed strawberry margaritas. The live dj set the mood as he played all the tunes that kept us humming and tapping our feet! If you're looking for a great brunch spot to kick back wth your friends or family, check them out!

This was some of the nastiest food I've had in a very very very long time I was told the food was delicious last year so decided to try them out after a workout class and boy was I starving . I opted for fried pork chops mac n cheese and red beans and rice. That was not a fried pork chop I asked and was told yes it's fried. Nothing like what I was raised on no floured batter nothing of the sort..maybe pan seared the mac n cheese was crudy n gross as ever so much black pepper that made it super hot and not to appealing (looked like ants) the red beans and rice was sugary as all h311... like super rich like they put a tea spoon or table spoon of sugar in my serving ...I'm not sure who the cook was for that particular day but they should def be put on the watch list and be sent to culinary school. I was so tired I didn't feel like complaining so here I am going through photos and decided to post them before I delete these horrible memories. I wish them the best but I don't think I could stomach another God awful meal like this again . The atmosphere was nice very clean establishment staff seemed to be nice a biut slow serving very kind though another reason I didn't want to complain they were nice but kinda running behind I just didn't want to be another issue since they had plenty going on but I really hope that cook gets the help he needs bc I would never serve food like this to my worst enemy...oh the cornbread was good the WATER was even nasty like I just wanna go home and lay down I was do super disappointed in this meal

Went for happy hour/drunk bingo on a Thursday (an event they have every week) at 6:18pm (Bingo starts at 6pm and Happy hour at 5pm). They were at capacity and refusing to seat people and creating a cut off in the line. The restaurant is small but appeared nice. They have a grass wall and event decor taking up space where tables could've been. The hostess was flustered with the group of people surrounding the hostess stand with questions about seating as if this was not expected. The bingo hadn't started when I left at 6:30. In the time span I was there waiting to get answers they turned around about 15+ people. I won't be returning.

Went here on a friday night with 3 of my girls. According to their website, it was supposed to be comedy night from 7pm-9pm, but when we pulled up at 7pm, it was one car in the parking lot and a couple walking out. Mind you, the night before I drove by, and it was popping because of Drunken Bingo night. So for the entire time we were there, only one party of three ladies came in. There was also no comedian. We went in and got seated and given water and a chance to look at the menu. Two of us ordered lamb chops (which were deliciously seasoned but mine was undercooked for medium well - no biggie) with yams and mac and cheese. My friend's was sent back because the mac and cheese were dry, and both of her sides were cold. When brought to their attention, they quickly rectified the situation and replaced the sides for BOTH meals, which came out pipping hot. The other two had the porkchops (one baked and one fried). The fried had to be sent back because of a food allergy. But once again, they rectified the situation and brought her out baked pork chops with no issues. The cook came out and JOKINGLY gave my friend a "hard time" for sending her food back, but it was all love...we laughed and he made sure everything was ok. All in all, besides a few issues, the food was good and the customer service was great. The place is quaint but pretty with todays R&B playing in the background. It was a little cold in there so we had to keep our jackets on while eating. If you're looking for a crowd, go on Sundays for brunch or Thursdays for Drunken Bingo. I'm pretty sure on those days, it will be a wait because of it's size. But I'll definitely be back!

We get there and there is a cute young girl who greets us with an apron and chef's hat on. She seats us and takes our order - she was our waitress which surprised us. I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup to have before my meal. I'm glad I got a cup and not a bowl. The cup was only half full. The soup was lacking flavor so I added pepper. The woman who is GrannyMa delivered the soup. She didn't speak to us or anything the entire time while we were there which didn't feel too nice. They were sold out of the beef liver, beef shortribs and sweet potatoes. We ordered the fried chicken (menu states it takes 20-25 minutes for the chicken) and the salmon croquettes. Each dinner comes with 2 sides each so we got the macaroni and cheese, green beans, dressing and mostaccioli (slight extra charge for the mostaccioli). Fried chicken was crispy and delicious! Seasoned well. The croquettes were good also - they give you two big patties in the dinner. We weren't impressed with the green beans as you can tell they came out of a can. The dressing was only okay. The mac and cheese was pretty good but the best side was the mostaccioli - it had a layer of cheese on top and was really yummy. I wish I had gotten that as a meal, it was that good and highly recommend it. For dessert I got the peach cobbler sundae which is peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream on top. The cobbler sauce was very thin. I like cobbler that has alot of flaky crust but this didn't have that but it still was good enough to eat the whole thing. The young girl brought us our bill. The prices are so reasonable for what you get. Our bill was only $62 with tax for all of what we had. The place is bright with warm colors inside. We conversated with the son-in-law to GrannyMa's, he was very nice and personable. Although the young girl was sweet, I felt some kind of way of her being our waitress because clearly she is underage to be working. We were told they have a Sunday brunch from 11-3 that includes a DJ. To my friend and I, the food overall was either hit or miss. One review mention about GrannyMa engaging them in conversation - she never came over to our table except to drop off the soup and she is the owner of the restaurant. Not a good way in customer service if you ask me. Overall, okay.

I ordered a platter of barbecue fried chicken with mustard potato salad, pinto beans, and a cornbread muffin. The chicken was no joke. It wasn't undercooked and it wasn't dry. I have had smothered fried chicken, but barbecue fried chicken was new to me and I liked it. They get high marks for good mustard potato salad. They didn't have baked beans, but cooked the pinto beans such that it had a nice gravy. No sugar was added to emulate baked beans, just good flavor without the fuss. Second platter that I ordered was spicy barbecue fried chicken, spaghetti, greens, and another cornbread muffin. Loved the kick to the spicy barbecue chicken. I appreciate the spaghetti not being sweet. There was enough bitter to the greens that I wonder if they were picked fresh. You can tell when someone does too much to canned greens to mask the fact that they're canned. I didn't get that impression with these greens. As to the cornbread muffin, it is more dessert than savory. Beware if you are a cornbread snob. Kimmy's is not a sit-down type of restaurant. You order for takeaway. What I ordered had sit-down flavor, for sure. I don't live too far away that I can't pull up. I can't say that I will chance placing an order for delivery. It takes time for orders to be completed because everything is cooked to order. Either way, they will get my dollars.

The batter on the mushrooms were on the soggy side; they might do better to cut the mushrooms instead of serving them whole. The jambalaya was too soupy. Then an older lady came and asked what we wanted and we had not even looked at the menu yet. So we then find out that they don't even offer the everything on the menu. They showed what they really offer that was written on a dry erase board stand. Very limited options. The top of the menu said that all meals come with 2 sides and cornbread but I guess chicken and waffles isn't considered a meal cause the server looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about sides. Very unprofessional dress. The server did not ask us if we wanted beverages with our food. We just had the water they gave us. They cook the food when ordered to it took about 35 minutes. The decor is very basic just tables and no table cloths , chairs, and a TV. They make popcorn to sell and I guess as a snack or appetizer Idk know why they brought us some. Which was cold and weird to eat before a meal. Just tacky to serve at a restaurant all together. I think they are trying to market themselves as something they are not. They are not a sit-down restaurant and should really just stick to carryout. They should offer seating for people who want to eat and go ( Harold's and Sharks) The food actually tasted good and I was pretty worried that it was going to be bad based on everything else I experienced. My niece and I couldn't believe this was our first visit, especially after hearing so many great things. This place is incredibly popular, so I definitely recommend making reservations. After checking in, we waited less than five minutes and struck up a fun conversation with two lovely ladies who were also first-timers. It was the perfect start to the evening. The atmosphere is warm, lively, and inviting, with Mardi Gras beads and colorful carnival masks throughout the restaurant that give it so much character. Our server was fantastic. Unfortunately, I didn't catch his name, but he was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations made choosing from so many tempting options much easier. Now let's talk about the food... EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious! To kick things off, I ordered the Creole Voodoo Zombie, and my niece had the Hurricane. Both cocktails were fantastic and set the tone for an amazing meal. My niece is an excellent cook herself and has dietary restrictions, so dining out can often be disappointing. That's what made this experience even more special--she genuinely loved every bite. We started with the crab cake appetizer and the BBQ shrimp appetizer, and both were packed with incredible flavor. For my entrée, I ordered the blackened ribeye, swapping the broccolini for the collard greens (worth the $3 upcharge!). The steak was perfectly cooked, and those collard greens were phenomenal. My niece chose the blackened red snapper étouffée, and she couldn't stop raving about it. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't leave without dessert. We shared the Mississippi Mud Turtle Brownie topped with marshmallow fluff and the strawberry shortcake. Our server suggested pairing the brownie with a butterscotch liqueur, and I'm so glad I took his recommendation--it was the perfect finishing touch and complemented the dessert beautifully. We've been talking about this meal ever since we left...and that's probably the biggest compliment I can give. In fact, we were so impressed that we made reservations for next weekend before we even left--and we're bringing two friends with us! Perfect for: Date nights, celebrations, or anytime you want a memorable meal that's worth planning ahead for. Maple Tree Inn absolutely lived up to the hype. 10/10--highly recommend!
