We got margaritas which were nice! Great balanced drink! We ordered a turkey burger with tots and loaded tots. The burger came with no tots, kitchen messed up and arrived after I ate the burger. Loaded tots were good and the tots that were with the burger were good. The host of "Drink Bingo" and the DJ were amazing. Solid energy, lots of fun and we were entertained! You gotta pay attention though! lol! Although fun, we felt a bit uncomfortable because it was kiddos there and we were promoting shots and calling out the "favorite number" of "69" so as educators, we felt a bit uncomfortable and awkward. I think we were thinking it was 21 and over since it was "Drunk Bingo". I hope the kiddos didn't go to school and say, "what's my favorite number? 69!" Cute little soot that has great potential with improved customer service. Staff checks in but does nothing to quickly resolve issues. Also they had the side door open and it was cold. I mentioned I was cold but they never closed it. We went for Saturday Brunch, it's filled with grit and something or waffles and something options. I wish the menu had more options but I went with girts and lamb chops w/shrimp added on. We order a shared plate of Henny wings and French toast they forgot about and it came out super late. I started with the margarita flight which first came out filled with juice and no liquor. I talked to the waitress about it, she tasted the pre-made batch and agreed it wasn't right. She came back to tell me this and that she would make me a new flight fresh. I was happy this would be a quick resolve but it took 45 min to get the replacement after mentioning it 2x. The replacement came and was good, just wish it came before we were ready to go. The food was delicious, the grits were amazing. Lamb cooked and seasoned just right. My only complaint is the bowl it was served in is an appetizer bowl, super small. I'm not looking for more food just wish it wasn't piled into the small bowl and I was given a small appetizer fork to eat it with. The Henny glazed wings were super sweet, like an orange chicken sauce or orange marmalade. It was too sweet and ruined that dish. French toast was decent and tasted better without the syrup. Service is very slow, but the food comes quickly if they remember what you ordered. I had to remind them about my shrimp and the Henny wings. Because of the service doesn't match the high price tag and the lack of follow through, I wouldn't return on my own. I went on a Fri and I was quite surprised how empty they were. I Sat at the bar. My friend told me how good their lamb chops were. They have specials throughout the week. According to their website lamb chops are $6 but I was charged $7 each. You have to get a min off 2. Also, there was no DJ as it was suppose to be reggae night. I had their lamb chops and jerk wings, also on special on Fri. You do have to get a min off 10. I will say the food did not disappoint! Jay was my hostess and her personality was great! Valentine's Day was a fantastic experience and a time was had! Here at Bea's Kitchen & Kocktails black owned, definitely had to show some love for Black History Month. The decorations displayed for Valentines at Bea's Kitchen & Kocktails were too cute. The decorations added such a lovely touch. The music was perfect. The DJ understood the assignment and the mood just right! Perfect tunes from the time reservations @530pm with 90mins max at a table till we left. Ordered the catfish dinner with red beans and rice along with the Mac and cheese and the second entree were the grilled pork chops dinner with cabbage and Mac and cheese. Everything tasted as good as the neat presentation. The food was very scrumptious! The chops were mouth-watering a must TRY! All the ingredients were fresh and everything was HOTT! And a cheese cake also came with the speciality dinner. No complaints there. Didn't take long for our meal to be prepared. Our waitress named was Jay. She was so sweet and attentive. This is a cute little spot in Richton Park located off of I-57 expressway. It is in a strip mall. I have visited twice. Once on a Saturday and once on a Sunday for the Brunch and unlimited mimosas. Bea's opens at 11:00. On both instances, we arrived at 12:00. Both visits, it was freezing inside at that time. The heat must get turned off overnight, and they do not have the heat turned on early enough to prepare for customers' arrivals. It was so cold that I kept my gloves on until my food arrived and kept my winter parka on the entire time, even while eating! The decor is simple but cute. It is a small place but has a bar, booth seating, and table seating. They also have a DJ spinning popular R&B music on both Saturdays and Sundays. The waitress was friendly. She told us about other weekly events, such as Drunk BINGO and Comedy Night. We ordered the unlimited mimosas on my Sunday brunch outing. While I noticed our water was served in plastic cups, I didn't expect the mimosas to be in plastic. Let me also add that the food was also served on plastic plates with plastic forks for the brunch, too. For the pricing, glassware and silverware should be considered. All of this being said, I must say that the food was scrumptious and well seasoned. For the lunch outing, we had Salmon Croquettes and the Catfish & Grits. Both were delicious! I even ordered an additional piece of fish because it was so good! On the Brunch outing, I ate everything! Fried chicken, catfish, waffles, eggs, potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and more. Sunday brunch food buffet was pretty good considering the price. The shrimp and grits were really good although I do prefer my grits a little less soupy. This was some of the nastiest food I've had in a very very very long time I was told the food was delicious last year so decided to try them out after a workout class and boy was I starving . Nothing like what I was raised on no floured batter nothing of the sort..maybe pan seared the mac n cheese was crudy n gross as ever so much black pepper that made it super hot and not to appealing (looked like ants) the red beans and rice was sugary as all h311... like super rich like they put a tea spoon or table spoon of sugar in my serving ...I'm not sure who the cook was for that particular day but they should def be put on the watch list and be sent to culinary school. I was so tired I didn't feel like complaining so here I am going through photos and decided to post them before I delete these horrible memories. I wish them the best but I don't think I could stomach another God awful meal like this again . Went for happy hour/drunk bingo on a Thursday (an event they have every week) at 6:18pm (Bingo starts at 6pm and Happy hour at 5pm). They were at capacity and refusing to seat people and creating a cut off in the line. The restaurant is small but appeared nice. They have a grass wall and event decor taking up space where tables could've been. The hostess was flustered with the group of people surrounding the hostess stand with questions about seating as if this was not expected. The bingo hadn't started when I left at 6:30. Went here on a friday night with 3 of my girls. According to their website, it was supposed to be comedy night from 7pm-9pm, but when we pulled up at 7pm, it was one car in the parking lot and a couple walking out. Mind you, the night before I drove by, and it was popping because of Drunken Bingo night. So for the entire time we were there, only one party of three ladies came in. There was also no comedian. We went in and got seated and given water and a chance to look at the menu. Two of us ordered lamb chops (which were deliciously seasoned but mine was undercooked for medium well - no biggie) with yams and mac and cheese. My friend's was sent back because the mac and cheese were dry, and both of her sides were cold. When brought to their attention, they quickly rectified the situation and replaced the sides for BOTH meals, which came out pipping hot. The other two had the porkchops (one baked and one fried). The fried had to be sent back because of a food allergy. But once again, they rectified the situation and brought her out baked pork chops with no issues. The cook came out and JOKINGLY gave my friend a "hard time" for sending her food back, but it was all love...we laughed and he made sure everything was ok. All in all, besides a few issues, the food was good and the customer service was great. The place is quaint but pretty with todays R&B playing in the background. It was a little cold in there so we had to keep our jackets on while eating. If you're looking for a crowd, go on Sundays for brunch or Thursdays for Drunken Bingo. Our family had a 6AM flight this morning. We were starving, grumpy, and tired when we happened to find this place as something close off of the highway. This place was EXACTLY what we needed. Two of us had shrimp and grits, one had catfish and grits, and I had the chicken and waffles. Every morsel that was served to us was devoured. Food came out piping hot and everything was seasoned so perfectly. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked and so were the catfish and shrimp. But the real star of the show were the GRITS. My mom made reservations at Bea's Kitchen & Kocktails for 3:30. It was my stepdad's birthday, he is a veteran and has health issues so we were running late. When we arrived at 4 they were closed even though online it says they close at 5. My mother called and was told there was a private event. She explained what happened and that we had a reservation but no luck. Eventually we were let in and were seated a few min later. The waitress came over and was pleasant but she never left the table. They were out of french toast, lamb chops, and waffles. My mom asked for a drink. The waitress yelled to the hostess stand are you making specialty drinks the woman there looked up from her phone and said nah. I told her one of our party was in the restroom but she still stayed at the table so we hurried to give her our full order. I then asked for salmon croquettes didn't have that either. My nephew then ordered oxtail and grits didn't have that either. His brother got back and got no time at all to look at the menu, so he ordered what his brother ordered since we'd all now ordered. Someone else came to the table and asked my mom what name she used for the reservation, then the "general manager" came to the table and stood over my mom and condescendingly said ma'am your reservation was for 3:30. My mom again explained that she called and some to someone and changed the time to 4. The woman asked her who she spoke with and my mom told her she didn't get the person's name. Then she said no one says they spoke to you. To which I then told her I heard her call so go interrogate he staff, not the customer. Then she said she was trying to figure out... I told her if you're going to let us in, let it go and let us be. She left after my mom showed her the call in her phone. The waitress came back and gave us our drinks. Then general manager came back and had the audacity to say ma'am can you please come speak to me away from here. To which my mother said no anything you want to say to me you can say right here. Side note: To be clear though, had my mom raised up from this table and obliged her, I would have raised up and walked right on with her. She then accussed my mother of changing the time to 3:45. Mind you the last time she came to the table no one said they spoke to my mother at all. My mother corrected her. This was really unprofessional. I asked her if she was really at a table accusing a customer of lying right now. She told me to calm down. I was calm and fed up. I said okay let's just raise up and leave. I hope it was worth it for the reviews they'll get from me. The table next to us also left and asked about what happened. They were parked next to us and I told them about it and they said don't worry it wasn't worth it to come here, you're better off because nothing was good. If you want to go support a black business like my mom did check out Poppin Corks. That's where we went after this harrassing general manger. The food was great, the staff was great, my mother had a great drink, and they stayed when I took the kids home for live music. They loved the music so much that my mom called me then texted me later again to tell me how great they were and how amazing the lead vocalist was. Couldn't stop raving. Don't bother with Bea's (empty) Kitchen & (nah) Kocktails, they are out of everthing on the menu... like really... French Toast and waffles... you don't have bread, eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon?! You're out of batter for waffles? Okay. Half the menu has french toast or waffles in the entrée. I could order the salmon and grits but not the salmon croquettes?! The entire time we were at the table either the waitress or the general manager was also at the table. We never got a chance to say anything to each other when we sat down. I will be sure to tell everyone I know not to go to Bea's (empty) Kitchen & (nah) Kocktails. Restaurant is a tough business for small businesses who go above and beyond for people... and don't take the tips right out of their wait staffs pockets. Once the drink orders came, one person in our party did not want their drink. Jae told us that the drink could not be returned to the bar or exchanged because it had already been poured. My friend reluctantly kept her drinks. We then placed food orders. Most of us ordered lamb chops. After almost 15 mins of waiting, we were informed that they did not have lamb chops, as well as no oxtail, or crab meat. At this point we decided to get the tab and leave to find a different place to eat. We were waiting for our Uber outside in chairs that were just outside the front door, Jae then came outside and told us that we could not sit there as those were another company and told us we can sit on the patio and wait. While on the patio, the cook, Mike, came out to speak with us. Mike did truly try to accommodate us with other food that is available and that the chef was making a store run for food that they were out of. He went inside of the resturant for a bit. A person in our party went back inside to followup on Mike's proposal. She spoke with Jay again, who was was introduced as the manager. Where do I start with this review... Ok this was me and my friends first time coming here service was terrible and the food was under cooked and over cooked... So we came here for what they call drunk bingo they seated us with one menu no table ware or nothing. They messed up our food order twice & my baby hamburger was completely red in the middle which it wasn't properly cooked so he basically ate a raw burger. When we informed the manager because we had too many issues with the service she replied oh I'll take care of his order and take it off the bill (which they still charged us for it once they printed the bill out) the drinks was sugary we had the strawberry margarita which was way to sugary regardless of it being happy hour or not it could've been better (my opinion) .
