    Catfish, greens & mac-n-cheese

I visited Granny Ma's for the first time a few weeks ago. I'd heard good things, so I was excited to check it out. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and found the restaurant virtually empty. There seemed to be a steady flow of takeout pickups, but there wasn't anyone dining in, so we had the entire place to ourselves. Our waitress was a young girl who was pleasant and friendly. My sister and I both had the catfish. I ordered the greens and mac & cheese while she had the dressing and greens. We both loved the mac & cheese. My sister kept stealing bites of it off my plate! Lol She enjoyed the dressing as well. Neither of us liked the greens, though. I believe they were turnips, and we prefer collards. We also didn't care for the Johnny cakes. I prefer mine a little sweeter. The catfish was good but could've had more flavor. My brother had the fried chicken, and his mom had the salmon croquettes. All three of them LOVED the croquettes! I didn't have any, but they were definitely a fan favorite! My brother loved the chicken and sweet potatoes. I had the brownie for dessert, which I didn't care for. My sister didn't like it either. It was dry and was just okay taste-wise. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Since we were the only ones dining in, it was really quiet and relaxing. We sat at one of the large tables, but there are also comfortable benches along the wall and window. The service was excellent and you can tell that the family takes pride in going the extra mile. Overall, the experience was pleasant, and I'd go back.

So, so good. Had catfish and mostociolli; corn and sweet potatoe sides. I mean, it blew my friend and I out of the water.

Definitely book ahead. We all ordered the Grand Tasting, which lets you try three entrees plus a beverage. It was so much food but everything was delicious. I had the short rib, fried chicken, and catfish, each with different sides. The only thing I did not really care for was the dressing. They also had live entertainment, which made the vibe even better. Customer service was just okay, but I would still recommend it. I definitely want to try their other location since I have heard the menu is different.

Because it was a busy holiday we had a reservation made for 1:30 pm, and of course my friend group was running a little late but they were so friendly and accommodating. There was a 90 minute time limit to eat due to how busy the day was, but they were so kind to start the clock after everyone in our party showed up. Now for the good stuff! The food? Phenomenal! On the menu they have a special called the Grand Tasting where you can get 3 sampler entrees and a free glass of champagne or wine (red or white), all for $69. Everyone in my group decided to get this deal so we could all sample one another's food. I ordered the Tuffle Lobster Mac and Cheese, The Carolina Creamy Shrimp and Grits, and the Sicilian Sriracha Chicken Parmigiana. Everything was fantastic, so incredibly delicious. For the entrees to be samples they were a pretty decent size. The shrimp and grits and the Mac and cheese were absolutely perfect 10/10. I wish there was a location in the suburbs I would go here all the time! Huge thank you to the staff for their great hospitality. I almost forgot to mention that this place has live music, which definitely helps create an enjoyable vibe while you're dining. This place is a must try!!

I visited during a Saturday afternoon and was surprised with how empty it was. It was one other family that were in the middle of their meal so I was a little nervous. Luckily, the emptiness wasn't related to the quality of the food because it was good. The crawfish etouffee was well seasoned and had a bit of a kick to it if you enjoy spice. They do have a full service bar with cocktails; I ordered a mixed drink and while it tasted fine, I could hardly taste any alcohol in it. The service was also a bit slower than I'd imagine considering that it was empty when I dined. Despite those minor shortcomings, I enjoyed my dining and would keep it on my list of places to consider in the future.

They enjoyed the poboys and thought the fried green tomato on it was an interesting touch. I ordered the vegetarian jambalaya, fried green tomatoes, and fried buffalo mushroom. Overall, I feel like everything, I ordered, was lacking in seasoning. The fried green tomatoes were good with dipping sauce. The batter on the mushrooms were on the soggy side; they might do better to cut the mushrooms instead of serving them whole. The jambalaya was too soupy. Traditional jambalaya doesn't have a liquid/soup to it. The jambalaya was more like a veggie étouffée. I would visit again to try the vegetarian jambalaya and, maybe, have the fried green tomatoes again.
