We were treated to an incredible variety of wildlife: orcas, humpback whales, pods of dolphins leaping out of the water, Dall's porpoises, and Steller sea lions. Seeing all of this in one trip felt truly special. Our kids were completely thrilled the entire time, their excitement was contagious and made the experience even more memorable. It really was a unique day on the water. The crew (Connor, Kennedy, and Adam) were outstanding. They were professional, friendly, and clearly very knowledgeable. They shared interesting information throughout the tour without ever making it feel like a lecture, and they were great with the children. What stood out even more is that they are genuine nature people who truly care about the environment. They showed deep respect for the animals at all times, and at one point they even stopped the boat to pick up plastic waste floating in the sea. That kind of care and responsibility deserves real respect. The trip is definitely worth every penny. As a perfect finishing touch, we received free photos of the wildlife by email afterward, which was a wonderful surprise. A huge thank you to the entire team for such an enjoyable and well-run day. We would highly recommend Prince of Whales to anyone visiting Telegraph Cove especially families.

Crew encourages you to be in the moment and takes professional pictures for you that are texted to you later in the day. (However, you are welcome to take your own pictures and videos). Unlimited hot beverages provided. Plus, cold beverages and snacks are available for purchase. Washrooms on the boat. You can move around the boat and staff announce which way to look to see the whales. Our last whale sighted put in a show jumping out of the water and spraying from his spout and beautiful dives showing his tail. One whale swam under our boat and my husband was able to look down his spout. Dress warm and bring a stocking cap and gloves. It gets chilly on the open boat.

My first tour got canceled since not enough people had signed up, but there was great customer service and they moved us out to the next tour 15 minutes later. I was nervous because the small boat was completely open vs. being covered, but it was a beautiful day and the sea air felt so nice. The tour was led by Captain Jimmy, who had a very kind, friendly demeanor and immediately put us at ease. He seemed to be one step ahead of every other tour out there, to the point where we lucked out and ended up very close to a pod of orcas. Additionally, Jimmy was very knowledgeable and respectful of the animals. We saw many orcas and humpback whales as well as sea lions and birds. It was amazing to see how the entire ecosystem worked together. This was the best part of our trip and I will recommend this group to all my friends and family! If you are unsure about going whale watching, do yourself a favor and book it!

We were surprised when we arrived at the boat, it was way smaller than we expected. When we booked the reservation I could've sworn the picture showed a much larger boat. With 11-12 passengers and 2 captains it felt extremely crammed. It was also rainy that day and not all of us could fit inside the tiny cabin with the captain, so about 4-5 people had to sit outside in the rain/wind. We did see 2 pods of orcas during the tour, and first group got really close to us and possibly swam under the boat which was really cool (we saw a female, calf, and large male orca up close). The second pod we saw from very far away and all we could really see were black dots (that I think were fins?) in the distance. We also saw porpoises and various types of sea birds. The captains were really knowledgeable and friendly, and we enjoyed the tour overall. However the fact that we had to sit uncomfortably shoulder-to-shoulder really detracted from the experience. I also feel they should give a warning about possible seasickness, as the waves could be rough the farther out you get.

They said the issues occurred the day before. I understood the need to cancel the tour, but the lack of an early notice prevented us from being able to rebook with other tour companies in time to go out that same day, which was our only day in Victoria. Big disappointment.
