It was a chilly and slightly drizzly day, but we saw two pods of Orcas, and incredibly, one of them swam up to us and went right under our boat. Apparently a first for our crew. They made sure to give the whales good distance after that and I appreciated how much the safety and conservation of the whales and other wildlife are top of mind. We also saw a humpback whale and quite a few bald eagles. We have an adult child back in the States who is a park ranger, and I know how passionate she is about what she does and how much fun she has teaching people about the local ecology, and our two naturalists reminded me so much of her. They were having so much fun themselves and they enthusiastically answered all of the many questions we had for them. This was a once in a lifetime experience and we loved every minute!

Unreliable. Sail at your own risk!…read more Harbour Cruises of Vancouver completely failed to deliver on the promise of their Indian Arm cruise. They claimed smoke in the engine room and limped back to port before we even turned into the Arm. Other reviews have reported unexplained itinerary changes that eliminated the main part of the trip. One has to wonder if they don't go up the Arm simply to save money when it's not fully booked or if their boats are that unreliable. While I understand mechanical issues, their compensation policy was completely inadequate. They offered a free drink on board and a coupon for 15% off a future cruise. Anyone booking on the internet can get a 20% discount off any cruise! After much back and forth they finally offered a 20% refund. The final price after this discount was approximately double the price of a narrated harbor tour. We received an un-narrated tour of the container port instead of a tour of the natural environment, which is what we were promised. We feel cheated by Harbour Cruises of Vancouver. Sail at your own risk!

Our guess is Mike didn't see it worth the time due to the limited number of bookings. (It was only 5 of us total for the evening. Mike told me the afternoon sail was 22.) I can totally understand the business case of not wanting to take 5 people out, but how about setting up a system that lets the patron(s) know this well in advance. We saw sea lions, two humpbacks, and the T13 orca pod. So, we got pretty lucky from a wildlife perspective. The captain, first mate, and naturalists were nice, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and just fun. Bottomline, this is what you are paying for. Hopefully, you see whales but the company cannot control the wildlife. The idea is to have a good time regardless of what nature has to throw at you. For reference, the boat ride takes a lot longer than the actual viewing so the crew being entertaining is more important. We had a great time.

From start we were given a run down on what's going to happen. Potential things we would see and what to do on the boat and what not to do. Tour is about 3.5 hrs and it was good! We saw a orcas! , bald eagles, sea lions. The crew was informative! My little one was getting sea sick and they helped out gave her a ginger candy to help out with the nausea. Highly recommend!
