7/31/21 Joyce N. Davenport, Iowa My miniature dog, Rusty, was boarded for a week at Eldridge, Posh Resort while we were on vacation. They didn't return my phone calls asking for an update on how he was doing for 3 days. No Facebook photos posted until we got home. Would have been nice to see him while he was there. He had dried dark green feces on his butt when we picked him up. Eventual Facebook photo did capture such condition in evidence. Would had taken nothing to clean him with a Wet-one or something after pooping. They said he was "singing" the whole time. I believe it was a cry for help. Our cat, Benny, was also boarded there at the same time. Appears to have lost some weight. Not all his food was used up. Both animals have been clingy & so grateful to be home. We will never use that facility again. Usually have been pleased with boarding at Pleasant Valley location in past. There wasn't enough room for the two of them this time during our vacation slot. read more

About 3pm on Friday, November 10, 2017, we dropped our 23-month-old 5.5 pound Pomeranian Rio off at Posh . . . A Beaston Camp Kennels Resort ("Posh") in Bettendorf, IA. We planned to pick her up about 48 hours later on Sunday after visiting our son in Milwaukee. At about 11:00am on Sunday, November 12, 2017, a representative of Posh left a voicemail message indicating that we should not be too concerned, but that she was going to take Rio to the emergency vet clinic. We first listened to this message at about 11:30am as we were leaving Milwaukee to return home and immediately returned the call. On that call the Posh representative told us that they were taking Rio to the emergency vet because she had blood in her stool, would not eat and was generally not responding well. We asked her to call us as soon as Rio saw the vet. Kelly Beaston called us about noon to tell us that Rio passed away just after arriving at the emergency vet. Ms. Beaston started to tell us about the events that preceded Rio's death, but not wanting to have a car accident (Ann was crying uncontrollably and I was stunned), I told her we needed to have some time to deal with the shock of Rio's death and that we would call her back. Ms. Beaston expressed her condolences and said she would await our call. We called Ms. Beaston back about 45 minutes later. During the calls with the Posh representative and Ms. Beaston we were told: * Sometime on Saturday, Rio and another dog were playing and that when it got too rough the handler had to separate them. * After separating the dogs, the handler and the other staff on duty looked at Rio and determined that she was "only bruised." * Rio was taken to the employee area where she ate. * At some point Sunday morning the staff called the Posh representative that had first called us and informed them that Rio had blood in her stool, would not eat and was generally not responsive. In my discussion with Ms. Beaston, I asked her why Rio was not taken to the vet after the incident or, in the alternative, why we were not called. She indicated that the handler and the other staff on duty decided it was not necessary because while Rio was shaken up a bit, there was no blood, only bruising and that she was able to eat. I also asked about the size and breed of the other dog. Ms. Beaston told us it was a "mixed breed" between 30 and 40 pounds. Note, the Animal Control Officer that investigated this incident told us the other dog was a Pit Bull. The reason we include this is not to suggest a bias against Pit Bulls or to blame this other dog, rather, to point out that we felt misled by Ms. Beaston's answer. I do not know if it was at the end of this call or if Ms. Beaston called us back a short time later, but she asked whether we wanted her to stay at the emergency vet until we got there so "we could yell at her." I told her we had no intention of yelling at her, that if we had any other questions after seeing Rio's body and talking with the emergency vet team that we would get in touch. Further, we had 60-90 minutes more to travel and saw no purpose in her waiting around. The call concluded with Ms. Beaston repeating that she was sorry. When we arrived at the emergency vet we met with a vet tech and said our goodbyes. The vet tech indicated that they were uncomfortable with the circumstances surrounding Rio's death so they shaved her sides to document the trauma photographically. We have included those postmortem photos. The emergency vet clinic told us that Ms. Beaston covered the cost of the vet's services but we incurred the cost of her cremation. Posh never even offered us any other compensation for our loss. In our opinion, Posh should have taken Rio to a vet after the incident. At a minimum, Posh should have called us and allowed us to decide. If they had called us, we would have directed Posh to take Rio either to her regular vet or the emergency vet clinic. While we will never know whether such action would have saved her life, we do know that we could have prevented her prolonged suffering. As saddened as we are that Rio died, we are horrified and angry that she spent the night alone suffering a slow painful death. read more

Both POSH and Beaston Camp kennels have been crossed off our list. POSH never answers their phone and no one is a the desk when you walk in. They were supposed to groom our dog while she stayed there, but never did. We took our dogs to Beaston Camp Kennels the next time, and when we picked up our dogs they were very lethargic, not even excited to see us. I have no proof, but they acted like they had been drugged. Will never use either again. read more

Dogs keep getting injured here and it needs to stop. They need to be held accountable. They get a lot of the reviews deleted and cover things up. Rio died here. A Yorkie was on deaths door when picked up by the owner. A dog with a horrible infected wound. a dog with a broken tibia. It goes on and on. Something needs to be done. They somehow got my last review deleted, so now I'm reposting. read more

My bulldog and black lab got kennel cough after being at your kennel for a day camp! Are you kidding?! Now my bulldog has pneumonia. She had to be taken to the vet, for a $500 charge! My other frail, 12 year old dog, also has kennel cough, and he wasn't even there! The other two gave it to him! I'm very upset, and my dogs will not be going back to the Beaston Camp Kennels. If you want to have healthy dogs, do not take them here. Clearly, they do not make sure the dogs who go to this place are vaccinated. Absolutley 100% atrocious business. read more

I take my 2 dogs there regularly Love this place!. Our lab loves playing with the other dogs all day. He comes home tired and looks forward to the next day. As for my little pup she enjoys the individual attention their kennel workers give her. She has separation anxiety but she seems very comfortable with them. They really do care for our dogs as if they were their own. read more

Our little 3.6 lb Princess Zuchon puppy absolutely loves going to Beaston Camp Kennels to play and be pampered. Always a happy puppy spending time there in the clean and clean smelling facilities. She gets so excited seeing her special two and four legged friends and being spoiled by the staff. They take excellent care of our precious little baby. I highly recommend them for the care of your furry friend. Great for doggie day care, boarding and grooming. Great socialization and exercise for our furry friend. After my 3 yr old Yorkie stayed here 3 nights when I picked him up he could barely walk and was unresponsive whenI asked whats going on they said because they thought he was elderly and just wasn't moving A 3 year old Yorkie is not elderly. In early July, over the 4th, I boarded our senior Lab mix. She has been boarded their over several years. When you check in you fill out a form that specifically asks if on medication, when to give, and amounts to be given. My Lab has been on thyroid medication for YEARS, the staff knows this because over the many times I've left her there. (including the week in the previous month). The staff knows my dog extremely well, (the tell me each time I pick her up). You should know in the mornings, all the dogs listed for pick up that day have their bowls taken out of their kennels. So, if you pick your dog up after 4 or 5 pm they haven't had water all day. Since my dog is on Thyroid medication she needs lots water which I WRITE on the FORM with the medication instructions, which I have done FOR SEVERAL YEARS. So, when I picked up my dog the staff person handed me her bag with some left over food. When I got home, at the bottom of her bag I find her medication and treats still cold from their Fridge, and NOT EVEN given out. That's right, when I dropped her off they threw everything in the fridge and NEVER looked at the instruction sheet you fill out when check your dog in. Keep in mind my dog has been going there for several years! I have NO IDEA if they have EVER given her the medication and the instruction sheet you fill out when you check in, is obviously WORTHLESS. It's taken me six weeks to write this because I was SO PISSED. This is a warning to Dog owners--you have NO IDEA if anyone at Posh in Eldridge is paying attention to any instructions you give them. This was some time ago, but we took our old dogs there to be boarded for a weekend. When we returned to pick them up our oldest pup had a tail so badly split and bleeding that you could see the bone. At first they told us that was happy tail from him wagging but we asked to see the video they admitted it was closed in a door. The back of the truck looked like a murder scene by the time we got home so i can only imagine what the kennelled looked like. And it was the Eldridge location which is very close to an animal hospital, but they still did nothing. I have no idea how long it had been split, i hope just the day we picked him up. Anyway two weeks of trying to get the cut to heal before the vet told us there was no saving it and we had to chop the last six inches of his tail. Then four more weeks in a cone. That was the last season we were gonna hunt the old dog and the lack of action from the kennel made that no more. So ill wrap it up, id give zero stars if i could because of the lack of action and the dishonesty. Never returning here or posh read more

We dropped our dog off for a week while we went on a vacation. We had the absolute worst experience with the Posh location in bettendorf. I can not speak for the other locations. They allowed our husky to jump their fence because they did not have any employee outside watching the animals. In our visits before dropping our dog off we explained she needed to be leashed at all times. They did not follow through. Our dog was running around Davenport for four hours and was found because we had to place our own Facebook post asking for help. The only offer they decided to offer us was a free bath. Which they caused our dog to become dirty in the first place by letting her run loose. Worst part is they did not even give her the free bath. When we dropped her off we asked to have her groomed which they also failed to do. We did not get any discount for our trouble for them allowing my dog to get loose and my wife and I being helpless from eleven hours away. Will not be returning...... About a month later the company still hasn't contacted me to fix this issue. They have blocked me from all social media's so I can not get ahold of them and when I try to call they hang up on me. read more

I do not recommend using this place for daycamp for your dog. I used them for the first 6 months of my puppies life until an incident happen between two dogs and the way it was handled was poor to say the least. Only one owner was contacted, the other was not until she came to pick up her dog and was handed a vet bill for the other dog ($500). She asked to see an incident report or a video to see exactly what happen since this is not normal behavior for her dog. They would not allow either, said neither existed and the business owner would not speak to her over the phone, only through email where the story changed three times. During that time the business owner told this dog owner to go find another daycare if she didn't like the way the business was ran. This is a customer who had taken her dog there for over a year every day and some weekends. Terrible customer service and your animals well being is not their first priority! read more

Dog seemed happy and healthy when I picked him up. Didn't have that dog smell that so often accompanies a boarding visit. People were friendly, the facilities seem nice. There was a slight issue with the billing, but it was resolved immediately. I would high recommend. read more

Took my two dogs in to be boarded at the Beaston Camp Kennels in Davenport for 4 days. On their website the description of their boarding facility is as follows, and this is copied from their website. Large indoor/outdoor private patios Medium studio for our petite guests Full time cleaning and care staff Elevated or plush beds provided A minimum of three trips to the exercise yards No extra charge for medication administration Lots of love!!! When I asked to see their kennel I was shown to it and it was NOT an indoor/outdoor. They do not have indoor/ outdoor kennels. I was told they would be taken out 3 times a day and they were signed up for day camp also. I wasn't entirely happy about it but there was nothing I could do about it. They have you fill out a form and leave any instructions for your pets. I left instructions that one of my dogs would need to take a medication on one of the days he was staying. He never received the pill, it was still in the bottle. My other dog came home with a big sore on his neck from scratching at his collar that no one bothered to take off for him. None of the treats I sent were given and a blanket I packed, for comfort, never even got unfolded. When I brought all this to their attention I was offered a credit, which I declined because I will not be back. My dogs stay in indoor/outdoor kennels when we go out of town and I will not have them back there again because NONE of them are indoor/outdoor. I was told by a manager that she would talk with the owner about some kind of refund and talk to the employee that was supposed to administer the medication. I got a call back a few hours later and was told that the employee watched him eat his pill. I told the manager that her employee was lying because the pill is still in the bottle or he received some other dog's meds, which is even more alarming! I am new in the QC stumbled upon POSH, took my puppy there for 1 1/2 months until I was told to remove my puppy . An injury that carred at there location while being cared my them. After seeking a doctors care for my puppy .Then went to have a conversation with owners and management,where I was then treated as if I was to much trouble for asking for an explanation to the incedent at hand only asked to leave and never return. I have never met a person so cold hearted about animals in my life Never Once A Sorry. Only we don't care love on your to much trouble to request a sit down with the owner. (Kelly) read more

My family and I have been long time customers and since moving away to college and getting a cat, I have made the 2.5 hour drive to have her boarded at your facility. It was a great price, awesome hours and super friendly staff. It was until I was notified about your price increase that I am not searching for elsewhere to board my cat. The price jump from $15 to $26.50 is absolutely absurd. Especially for boarding a cat. I would be able to understand a $1 to $2 increase, but an increase of $11.50 is nearly the cost of just one nights stay. I was told because you all supply the food and litter, the price increase was deemed necessary. I have always brought my own food and bedding and am unsure how many cats you board regularly and if such an increase was actually necessary to pay for such supplies. I'm disappointed to have to take my business elsewhere but I figured it was important for you to know the reason and for it to be on your radar. I would have undoubtedly rated your business 5 stars if it had not been for this price increase. read more

only a few gours home and my dog is coughing. A lot. Take to vet. Bordatella. Even though dog vaccinated which according to vet happens because the vaccine is like flu vaccine and doesnt stop all viruses. In my 30 years of having dogs weve never ever had one who has gotten bordatella. And as ours has never been boarded anywhere except here, and in the last 3 months has only been exposed to one other dog who does not have anything there is only one place that he could have picked it up. Water got into the kennel we dropped him at. Then they moved dogs out before or after they got wet who knows. As well as when they moved the dogs they called once which i couldnt answer cause my child was seizuring. Did they try again nope, send an email or text nope, put the move on facebook Nope. And the call was not from the contact number we had programmed in so how were we supposed to know to call it back? It could have been a robocall so we didnt as we get lots of those calls. And they had an alternate number and email my daughters to contact. You would think they would ensure contact with the owner or post it or text out. Nope And our dog never piddles in front of people. But he did to them. Makes me wonder what happened to make him so scared. And vet says there is swollen spot on his shoulder as though he was dropped or hit or too much rough housing.
