this review is only for the lack of communication for my order. I ordered on Dec 9th online and wanted the items delivered BEFORE Christmas. I made a call to them wondering what happened to the order since my sister told me she never received. customer service was very sweet but apologized and never offered even a discount on my items. all I got was an apology. I ordered the Vanilla Rum Liqueor Cake and got nauseous and vomited! This cake is a SUGAR BOMB! The kids got bellyaches like they do when they eat too much candy. You can't even taste the cake only sugar. Everything in this cake is fake. Artificial preservatives and flavors. There is very little Rum in it as it is at the end of the ingredient list-just so they can say that it is a Rum Cake. The Apple Struesel was also fake. No natural ingredients. Loaded with chemicals as well. Never opened the package and it's going in the Garbage too! I never tried the fruitcake so I wonder how it is made. The chocolate covered fruitcake squares were good but still too many additives. I am an Pediatric RN-please know what you are putting into your body. FANTASTIC fruit cake, all kinds. Like my grandmother used to make, not much cake, lots of nuts and fruit.

Okay, I admit it: I like fruitcake. Maybe that makes me a fruitcake. Anyway, I have tried many different fruitcakes over the years and some have been bone dry, other's lacking much flavor, and a few have been pleasant. I saw Beatrice Bakery on a food show and it said their cake dispelled the notion of fruitcake as a doorstop or a projectile for post-season distance competitions. So, for this Christmas I thought I would give them a try. Wow, am I glad I did. I can say without reservation that this was the best fruitcake I ever ate. It was moist, flavorful, packed with fruit and nuts. A fluke? Who knows? What I do know is that I'll be ordering one again next year. If you like fruitcake, you will love this. If you never tried or have been put off by other fruitcakes in the past, you owe it to yourself to try the fruitcake from Beatrice's UPDATE: Bought another fruitcake this year. Once again, I'm blown away by how good it is. This is not one of the best fruitcakes I've ever eaten, it is the ABSOLUTE best I've ever eaten. If more people tried this delicious cake, the stereotype of fruitcakes would be over. I love, love, love this fruitcake. Does that make me a fruitcake? Seriously, you just have to try this fruitcake. BEST EVER FRUITCAKE ! Thats if you get their Best item, their FIVE POUND Grandmas Fruitcake . Period . (the smaller cakes might be a bit drier ..) BUT get the Grandmas Fruitcake in the FIVE POUND size ! and it will always be fresh and wonderfully good ! If you dont think its the Best fruitcake/just about tops, that you'v ever had, you can return it or call for a full refund . Yes these people are that nice . But I doubt that will happen .. you, like me, will probably wind up getting another one each year after that .. (Claxton makes a fruitcake thats very good too, especially the Dark one, but I can hardly find them anymore ..) and I wanted something different than a pumpkin/pecan cheesecake from the cheesecake Factory .. soo .. tried this at a tasting and wow did this stand out .. !) but again, make Sure you order the Big (FIVE POUND Grandmas, round, in the tin) one .. yes a bit pricey but we all know how much fruitcake costs to make so its Worth it .. ! you'll Thank ME later : ) woo-hoo ! At Hadley's in Cabazon, CA, they had little 3 ounce fruitcakes by the checkout stand. So I took one for grins. Oh was I surprised! Best fruit cake I've ever had in my life. I'd give them 6 stars w/o hesitation. I've never been to Nebraska, but now I'd have a reason for going there or stopping while passing through. I don't even care if the bakery is near an Interstate. Very glad I had just the 3 oz. cake, because if I had bought a 5##, not sure I'd have survived eating it all in one sitting. Yeah babeee. read more

Every year around the holidays I have to have my fruit cake from Beatrice Bakery. So many friends laugh at me because all they know is the brick hard ones you get in the stores. I never liked fruitcake, would not even touch it for many years. Then sometime around 1980 or so, a person I worked with at the time tried to get me to eat a piece of fruitcake. I told him I did not like fruitcake. Well, after some persistence, I finally gave in a tried a slice of your fruitcake. Was I ever surprised by how good it was. Ordered a fruit cake on line. Called one week after placing order online. During phone call I was told it had not shipped however they would call me back and let me know status. No return phone call I had to call the bakery back after waiting multiple days for a return call. The bakery was sorry they had not shipped the item still in which I already paid for but would do their best to ship it that day. The reason for not shipping was I placed an order over the Thanksgiving weekend and they were too busy to ship out my order or return a phone call. In the end my trust in the bakery had been broken I asked for a refund, which they did process quickly, and will move on to another bakery. What did I learn...do not order from Beatrice Bakery during a busy time. read more
